Don't force yourself to write when you don't want to it's one of things that makes books flop and not be good at all it makes you feel anxious and unsure of what you're writing be confident you are going to make your best pieces of work when you're confident you don't have to know what direction the book is going in my favourite things i wrote didn't have a specific direction it was going it's fine to have a plot and know where you going but don't confine yourself to said idea you don't have to have specific things most stories have (dialogue atc) since these things made their story doesn't mean it makes yours, yours can be popular or not but just be happy with what you got I believe you will most likely write your best when you let it flow allow your story to breathe I suggest you keep scrapped ideas since they can make some funny and sweet stories in the future don't be afraid of trying something new you shouldn't be afraid of mixing different ideas together it makes the story new and interesting you don't need to exaggerate anything and make your main character (if you have one) perfect if you make your character have things that make them imperfect it makes the story more enjoyable and make the story interesting not every story has to contain incredibly sad thing as I said before don't confine yourself to one idea.
