Depression
Trigger Warning: Depression and other dark themes will be talked about in this chapter! You have been WARNED!
Depression is one of the leading causes of young people's' death all around the world can the authors please talk about their own experiences with depression and sadness (How they dealt with it, How the people around them with it affected them, Why it's hard to deal with etc)
Sam: Hiya, I love you Chazzy!
Chazzy: Hey Sam, I love you too!
Sam: So tough topic, aye (Thanks)
Chazzy: Yes it is, but we've all gone through it at least once in our lives. We all just deal with it in different ways, and we all heal in different ways. Some people can heal really fast and some people can heal slower but we all go through it at one stage or another in our lives.
Sam: We do, we do. We should probably say whether we have depression or not? You first Chazzy!
Chazzy: Ok well, I don't really have depression I mean I did for a few weeks this year and then again for a while in primary school, but right now I'm all good, what about you Sam? Do you have depression?
Sam: My story is a bit of a longer one, I have had depression since I was ten and it was because of a childhood event and I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety when I was eleven. I still have it and it hasn't gotten better in all honesty. How severe has your depression gotten to the point of?
Chazzy: only to the stage where I self inflicted cuts to the back of my left arm and hand slightly, then again on my right thigh.
Sam: I never inflicted anything on my body really (I have but it's kinda gruesome story I really don't want to get into). I more have gotten suicidal thoughts to the point I got them just as regularly as my headaches (In all honesty I still get suicidal thoughts really regularly) which I have talked about in a previous chapter.
Chazzy: Well as I said people heal in different ways, for some people like me, inflicting pain on themselves is their way of healing. I hope you have stopped thinking suicidal thoughts Sam.
Sam: It's not as easy as clicking my fingers and going "Stop thinking suicidal thoughts, Sam", I never got out of thinking them.
Chazzy: I know, I used to think suicidal thoughts as well, but I managed to stop, but that's because I met you and the others.
Sam: I always pushed my own well-being to the side and I told myself if I can't be happy on my own then I'm useless which really triggered me in the suicidal department. Have you ever tried to commit suicide? (Wow this got real dark)
Chazzy: No, I mean I thought about quite a few times in primary school and then about twice this year. But I never tried to, why have you?
Sam: Do you want me to be a 100% honest?
Chazzy: You don't have to be, but I would prefer it if you were?
Sam: Then in all honesty yes, I have, multiple times come to think of it.
Chazzy: Wow, it's like that's a thing for everyone, thinking suicidal thoughts, trying to commit suicide.
Sam: I feel like a lot of people try to show it off like it's a cool thing, people who want help get help (I have gotten help) the people who don't want help go to the internet and show it off like it's a prize or a medal.
Chazzy: I've got a few scars on my arms and thigh but I don't show 'em off, well not on purpose anyway, I just let 'em show 'cause I really don't care what people think of me. I just let them show because they show that I've survived, that I was stronger than what had tried to take me down in the first place!
Sam: I know you don't just show them off on purpose. I really do love and care about you. In that sense it is a medal since it shows you went through some stuff but you got out of it
Chazzy: I know, I really love and care about you as well sweetie. I know that's why I never regret a scar, well except for the ones that I don't know how I got.
Sam: Thank you so much, this was a great conversation. I'm happy we talked about this actually.
Chazzy: No problem that's what I'm here for. Yes am I too, Sam.
Sam: I love you so much.
Chazzy: I love you so much as well.
Sam: How do you cope with depression, Chazzy?
Chazzy: Well, I do a range of things. I sometimes self-harm, I dance or listen to music and/or write 'cause that's how I put my thoughts into words, and also you, the others and my boyfriend have been a huge help with my slight depression. What about you? How do you cope with depression?
Sam: I blare music so loud that I can barely think straight, I also read/write/draw they are things I do so regularly and it's a huge help actually. I articulate the way I'm feeling into what I read, write, draw and listen to. Has anyone really close to you helped you in anyway?
Chazzy: Nope, no one knows, well except you and the others. But you guys have made me feel better and have helped me so much, and I could never thank you and others enough for everything that you have done for me.
Sam: You personally have helped me a lot recently and for that thank you so, so much you mean so much to me and it's unbelievable. Beside you it would have to be my dogs they help me all the time.
Chazzy: It's no problem that's what I'm here for, we're sisters, we're pretty much family, you have a problem then I have a problem. awwwww, you make me feel loved and for that thank you, I love you.
Sam: You are loved.
Chazzy: I know, I'm pretty much loved by everyone, I'm loved by a lot of my family, I'm loved by you and the other girls, I'm loved by the three best guy friends (The number one guy friend is the bf). So I really am loved, YAY!
Sam: You will always be loved by me <3!
Chazzy: I know and you'll be loved by me as well, always<3 <3!!
Sam: Aww, shucks. What is your favourite thing about me? I'll do the same for you!
Chazzy: Your ability to be nice to everyone and be friends with everyone, the way you make everyone smile just because you are smiling.
Sam: This is why I love you! My favourite thing about you physically is your smile and emotionally is the way you get what I mean by the simplest words
Chazzy: Everyone always seems to like my smile, sometimes they like the fact that I'm not a girly girl, but most of the time it's my smile. Probably 'cause they can be pretty rare to come across.
Sam: I like everything about you! Do you think I'm a girly girl?
Chazzy: YAY, sometimes, but I love you for that!
Sam: Thanks, I will do the dirty work if someone else feels uncomfortable doing said dirty work I guess!
Chazzy: Ok, what dirty work?
Sam: Any dirty work really, if it helps someone I most likely won't hold back on doing the dirty work. Does that make sense?
Chazzy: Yes it does, for me if someone has a battle to fight but they can't find the energy or the strenght than I'm the first one there, I like fighting other people's battles if it's going to make their lives easier.
Sam: Same here actually!
Chazzy: Really?
Sam: It's my personality, you should know that! I may be softer and more emotional but I still have a hard shell.
Chazzy: Yeah, I really should know that by now. That's another reason why we're best friends and sisters.
Sam: Yeah you should and it is a really good reason why!
Chazzy: That actually kinda explains a lot.
Sam: Haha
Chazzy: I know right.
Sam: You always say that.
Chazzy: I know, normally I say YOLO at lot (for those of you who don't know what that means, it means You Only Live Once)
Sam: Ironically right?
Chazzy: Yep, either that I say something with a lot of swear words in it.
Sam: *Laughs really hard since that's so true*
Chazzy: Well I always speak the truth, like when I say that math is really bloody annoying.
Sam: I always tell the truth as well, and the maths thing is also true
Chazzy: I know, that's another reason why we are best friends and sisters!
Sam: Yes it is!!!
Chazzy: Wow, we have a lot more in common than we thought we did.
Sam: I love you so, so much, Chazzy!
Chazzy: I love you so, so much as well, Sam! <3 <3 !
