They knew each other long ago. They played as children, unbeknownst to what would truly become of them when they came of age. They had not known what love was in their younger years, but they surely had it for one another since the moment they met.

Unfortunately, when the boy was not nearly a decade old, war broke out.

Chaos was ensued.

Much was destroyed.

The girl's father lost a leg to a bear while at one of their camps.

Both nations blamed the other for mishaps and misunderstandings.

And the two children hid in the shadows as their world's came crumbling down around them brick by brick.

They wondered why they didn't see ships on the horizon anymore. They wondered if the other was dead. They wondered and wondered and wondered.

They were both so alone for the longest time. The girl's mother being too picky; the boys father being too careless. After years of hoping and waiting, neither felt like they had the other anymore.

Things happened.

The boys lost his leg in a battle with a great dragon, all the while taming the most rare dragon of them all. He was now chief of Berk, and his dragon was the alpha.

The girl turned her mother into a bear because she refused to get married. Luckily they were able to transform her back and restore their bond.

All was well.

And all wanted the war to be over.

So a peace treaty was signed and the countries rejoiced!

But along came another pressing issue.

If the girl wanted to rule, she had to marry. The time was coming up soon, leaving her with few options.
