Those sabature's
Once a pushover, always a pushover - whether this rings true to you personally or not, it may well be the case with others.
Now imagine someone wants to get one over on you & knows you won't do anything to defend yourself...
When I was a lot younger I faced an awkward set-up - working in a family business!
Not my family.
In addition, fellow 'outsiders to the family' were 40 somethings who'd been there in excess of a decade.
(I may come across confident in text but back when I was a child I was a quiet, highly introverted nervous wreck & a push over - today however, I've come along way)
I found myself often being someone's scapegoat - when they messed up - leave the boss to believe it was me.
Two occassion stood out:
1. A co-worker (family of the boss) run into the office in a panic & rushed a load of jumbled words to me about how she was suppose to get me to do some urgent accounts, but she forgot & now 'he's' behind & he's peeved & he's on his way - 'he' then slams door open, fixes on me & asks in a nark "why haven't I done... (I still to this day don't know)" & "what am I playing at?". With his relative staring at me like a deer in headlights from behind his back, I felt way too intimidated to fill him in on the truth, so I simply offered to do whatever it was he wanted doing - he was having none of it, told ne to forget it & assured me I'd mess up.
He later made me take his seat & do a load of data entry that was 'urgent' (I don't know if they're a match) & walked me through what to do (technically, I was doing stuff I wasn't qualified to do & had no training).
Guess who decides to push her luck - she who failed to pass the message on & made me look lousy - she dropped the line "I hope you're listening".
After 'he' was gone, she let me know she was 'suppose to be helping me' with this particular task, before wondering off.
2. A highly two faced lady who made it clear in my book that she was gossiping about me to her family (& not in a nice way, though that's her business) one day asked me to start making her tea a lot stronger - the instructions being 'use 3 bags & a trace of milk' - I did this for about 3 days & I assume she drank them, however, one day, infront of my face, just as the boss was coming in, she swapped their drinks. He walks in, picks up the drink (I made the drinks, constantely), sips it & lets me know "that's horrible" & asks me 'what I'm playing at' - she's looking at me smirking & again, too intimidated to say it as it is, so I offed to make him a new one, which he accepted but clearly didn't trust me from then on.
