Some jobs are massively importiant:
• life or death
• data protection
• perhaps the employee in question just needs said job
Yet often, there are 'those' who don't care for the above if they want something - no barrier of decency will get in their way.

Speaking with folk I know, it's sad how many have been put in awkward positions.

One loved one who falls into all the listed examples I stated (job I won't mention) has been, on numberous occassion before my eyes, has been asked to research & disclose information that could not only result in endanger lives, but dismissal from work & an arrest.
Why would a hard working lone parent with bills to pay want to take such a risk?
Think of the magnitude of such consequences.
All so that others can have a gossip?
