"So Frank, your first lesson is Transfiguration," said Hermione, walking beside Frank on the way from the Gryffindor tower to the Transfiguration class.

"I warn you now, it's not easy," grumbled Ron, who was falling behind in the class.

"Oh Ron, he's done Transfiguration before," Hermione rolled her eyes, "they run the same subjects at other schools."

"Yeah, but I bet their teacher isn't as strict as McGonagall," I complained, no matter how much I respected McGonagall, no one could deny her no-nonsense attitude, which showed through the insane amount of homework that she continued to give us.

"Oh she has nothing on the teacher at Hecate," said Percy, "Mrs Dodds is a literal monster." For some reason, this cased Annabeth to start laughing.

We continued to talk as we made our way down to the class, and took our seats. McGonagall called for silence and began the class.

"Class today we will be continuing with human transfiguration, and beginning to attempt to transform ourselves temporarily into different animals."

Frank grinned and whispered something to Percy.

"We will start by transfiguring ourselves into birds, you choose which bird, the smaller it is, the harder it is." With that Professor McGonagall turned into a hummingbird and then back into a human.

"You should all have the incantation memorized by now, please begin," she said.

A moment after that Frank turned into a robin and flew to the front.

"NO FAIR!" Percy yelled, "HE'S GOT AN ADVANTAGE!"

Piper, Jason and Annabeth mumbled in agreement, I wondered what kind of advantage Percy meant, perhaps Frank was an Animagus? But he didn't seem like the type to take the form of a robin.

I shook that thought away and focused on the appearance of an owner and attempted to begin the Transfiguration.

An hour later all I had managed was to grow a pair of wings, Ron had a beak, Percy was trying to walk with claws instead of feet, Jason had very bird-like eyes, only Hermione, Annabeth and Frank had been able to do it, Frank was still a robin, Annabeth was in owl and Hermione was a blackbird.
