Chapter 35
A/N: I posted a triple update, so if you missed chapy 34, go back and read it to avoid any confusion (^▽^)/
...
Katherine's P.O.V.
After we walked out of the cave, which I learned was for the female dragons with their eggs, I went back to Lyla and filled her in on what happened. I'm surprised my hearing is intact from how loudly she was screaming.
And later, when we were having dinner, both of us were shocked when our mates told us Kayda will be in her dragon form until the egg hatches, because she needs to keep it warm and protected.
"Guess who's going to be cranky for the next three months." I said with a smirk.
"Poor Matt." Lyla added with a chuckle.
...
*a few days later*
Lyla and I were sitting in her room and looking through the catalogs. I was fidgeting all the time because my nerves wouldn't calm down.
I wonder how she's going to react...
"Look at this one." She said and showed me a dress.
I took the catalog but didn't look at the dress. I placed it down on the table and then looked at Lyla.
"What is it?" She asked in confusion.
"Umm... I..." I started. "I have decided on something." I said slowly.
"On what?" She asked as she took another catalog in her hand.
"I'm not going to marry Tharion and Draco." I said quickly and braced myself for her reaction.
She dropped her catalog and her mouth fell open.
"What?" She asked slowly.
"I'm not going to marry them." I repeated. "Well, not until 3 months pass." I added.
"What?! Why?!" She yelled in astonishment.
"Well..." I took a deep breath. "I want Kayda to be with us when I do it, but since she won't be shifting until the egg hatches, I decided to wait until then." I stated.
"Are you crazy?! Tharion and Draco are going to go berserk!" She yelled.
"What? Why? They don't even know I decided I'm ready." I said in confusion.
"Yes they do. They can feel it. And if you forcefully stop it, it's going to drive them insane. The only thing that kept them at bay was the fact that you weren't ready. I bet they are already suspecting you right now. And in a few more days, they'll know." She explained.
"But they won't do anything to me. They promised." I fought back.
There's no way this is possible.
"Sure they won't. But their dragon instincts will. You probably won't notice it, and neither will they, but they'll unconsciously start to persuade you. And when you get caught, it's all over. I'm talking from experience here." She said in frustration.
"Experience? Blaze did something like that?!" I asked in surprise, my eyes widening instantly.
"Of course. You think we were saints for two whole years before we got married? Of course not. I only noticed when it was too late." She answered quickly.
My heart jumped at that.
It can't be possible. Right? Tharion and Draco wouldn't do something like that. Right?
...
But sure enough, everything Lyla said was true.
"Katie~" Draco whined and tugged at my skirt again.
"No." I mumbled, feeling distracted because of Tharion's kisses.
And when I felt his hand going under my skirt, I pushed their hands away and quickly got up.
"I said no." I said sternly and looked at them.
They both growled lowly and laid down on the bed.
This is going to be harder than I thought.
...
"Come on~" Draco whined yet again, trying to take off my skirt for the ninth time.
"Mm- N-no-" I barely managed to say because Tharion was also yet again distracting me with his kisses.
I slightly pushed them away from me and took a deep breath. Draco growled loudly and stormed out of the room.
I'm sorry Draco.
I slowly glanced at Tharion, but he was ignoring me.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled softly.
He just hummed, but continued to ignore me.
Why do I feel so guilty...
...
*three months later*
Lyla and I were sitting on a blanket in the middle of the meadow, where I first saw Tharion's and Draco's dragon forms.
"I told you so." Lyla said with a sigh.
I just told her about the problem I'm currently having with my mates.
"I know. But we're so close. The egg should hatch any day now." I mumbled in defeat.
So close...
"You've been saying that for the past two weeks. Didn't Blaze tell you? The egg could hatch even after a 100 days. Who knows when it'll hatch." Lyla stated. "And don't even get me started on Kayda's constant protests. If only you could speak with her." She added with a shiver.
And I knew she was right.
"But-"
"No buts. You've left them hanging so many times. Of course they're going to stay away from you. They're probably losing control over their dragon instincts, but they don't want to do anything against your will." She yet again stated the obvious.
I breathed out in frustration and laid down on the blanket.
"Shit!" She yelled and suddenly started to gather our stuff as fast as she could.
"What is it?" I asked in confusion and looked at her.
"The egg started to move." She answered.
That simple sentence had me up on my legs in less then a second. I helped Lyla gather everything, and we headed toward Kayda as fast as Lyla's baby bump would let us.
"Are you sure you should be running? What if you go into labor or something? You'll never hear the end of it if Blaze sees you." I said worriedly.
Although she was only five months pregnant, she looked like she was in the middle of her seventh month.
"Quit yapping and move! Blaze's scolding can wait for later. We're about to see a fucking dragon egg hatch!" She yelled excitedly, which made me laugh.
...
After a few minutes, we were walking into the cave Kayda and other female dragons with their eggs were. And when we arrived to Kayda's spot, everyone was there. And then I saw the moving egg.
Awww...
I looked at Kayda and I could see her tail swinging all over the place because of how excited she was. Matt on the other hand was petrified. He was hiding behind Kayda's wing and peaking at the egg every two seconds. I could tell Kayda was trying to calm him down from how she constantly looked between Matt and the egg.
It's almost here!
...
Everyone say sike!
The egg's been moving for the past half an hour, but still no baby dragon.
"Come on baby! We don't have all day!" Lyla yelled in frustration, which made all of us laugh.
When we figured out the egg won't hatch anytime soon, we decided to just sit around Kayda and the egg and wait. When I wanted to sit next to Lyla, Tharion and Draco pulled me to sit between them. Now we're sitting in an awkward silence, but they're still as caring as ever with their small touches and nuzzles against my head.
Come on baby. Your uncles are losing their sanity.
And then we heard it.
A crack.
