Sydney Kingston's POV

"No," I shook my head. "Those are supposed to go into the West Hall," I instructed the workmen who were about to carry the large table into the North Hall.

I scanned through my list and ticked the little white box as the men carried the table into the West Hall.

The annual Season was this Friday and I had less than two days to organise everything in time for the celebration on Saturday. There was so much to be done, countless things to organise, not to mention getting the Hall decorated, but I loved it.

I loved the absolute chaos of it all.

"Luna, regarding the flowers which centrepieces go on where?"

I flipped my list. "The lilies go on the odd-numbered tables and the tulips on the even numbered tables. Also, the centrepieces that contain both lilies and tulips go on to the larger tables for guests and what not."

The young girl nodded and ran off and I turned away to inspect the lights that were supposed to seem as if they were trickling down the bannisters of the stairs.

"Mum! Tell Isabella to shut her mouth!"

I stopped and turned to see my son, my fourteen-year-old son with what seemed like a piercing in his left lobe.

"Mum! Don't listen to Cayden!" Isabella quickly entered, eyes wide and gleeful at getting her brother into trouble.

Around me, the other members of the pack stifled their laughter as Cayden and Isabella began shoving each other at the doorway, both determined to be the first to reach me.

In my entire family, only Cayden and Isabella never got along but both doted extremely on their little sister Andrea.

I blinked furiously at the sight, wondering which issue I should address first. I dropped my list onto one of the tables positioned around and crossed my arms.

"Okay, stop the shoving match, both of you are siblings and ought to be nicer to each other."

Immediately, they stopped and Isabella crossed her arms and nudged her brother with her elbow which caused Cayden to retaliate with a pinch to her arm. "Knock that off," I scolded and identical sullen looks were shot my way.

"First," I began. "Cayden, why do you have a piercing? It wasn't there this morning."

The fourteen-year-old shrugged, "Dad allowed it."

I arched a brow, "Really? I can ask him, you know."

He flushed. "No, he doesn't know about it. But my friends and I went to get it after school today."

"What happened to asking for permission before doing anything like that?" I asked sternly and Isabella snickered at his discomfort.

"You are going to discuss that with your father later," I instructed and Cayden nodded reluctantly. Now that this particular issue was somewhat resolved, I turned to Isabella who was smirking smugly at the idea of her brother getting into trouble.

"Wipe that look off your face Bella, have you been telling tales on Cayden again?"

My first daughter scowled and looked away while Cayden snorted and began making faces in her direction.

"Bella, you know that is not very nice," I said firmly and directed stern looks to both of them. "We are a family and being unkind to each other is not a good family trait. Why can't the both of you be nice to each other like how you are nice to Andrea?"

Both of them remained silent and I sighed inwardly at how stubborn they both were before shrugging. "Alright, dish duty for you both this whole week."

Cayden frowned and opened his mouth to argue and thought better of it when he saw the look on my face that dared him to argue.

"Fine," he sulked and I raised an eyebrow. "Bella?" I prompted and her blonde little head nodded.

"Now, where's Andrea and your father?" I asked and both shrugged.

"I heard Uncle Rhett went to his office to discuss things while Aunt Sarah is looking after Andrea," Isabella piped up helpfully and I nodded.

"Okay, grab your things and give me five minutes to get things settled before we head home alright?" I asked and both nodded before running out of the hall and I turned to my list and sighed inwardly.

I had to get everything set up but I also had to prepare dinner as well as help my children with their schoolwork and deal with household issues. I probably would have to delegate things to others, I noted.

"Reporting for duty, Queen Sydney!"

I rolled my eyes and turned to see the familiar face of my brother-in-law who was literally saluting me with a cheeky look on his face.

"Shut up Rhett," I retorted before allowing a smile to form on my face. "What are you doing here anyway? Bella told me that you had things to discuss with Brendon."

Rhett shrugged and ran his fingers through his hair. "I know but we discussed them already. And Kingston knew you were going to be busy with the preparation for the feast and the celebration that he decided he was going to help."

The mention of my husband who was willing to help me in any way he could brought a smile to my face.

"Really?"

"He's in the driveway and if I'm not wrong, some members of the pack had approached him for plans for some building thing."

"Sydney."

I turned and a smile formed on my face, "Hi."

Once my husband neared me, he pressed an affectionate kiss on my forehead. "You don't have to help," I assured. "I have to go home and get dinner and household chores, not to mention-"

"No, you can stay and finish up here. I can bring the kids home and get dinner started," he offered and I beamed. "Really?"

"Yes," he nodded firmly. "I know how you have to finish all the preparation and the orgnisation of everything and I know it's important to you. Don't worry about us, we'll be fine."

I nodded, a large smile gracing my features. "Thank you, I'll see you home later." I pulled his face down to the same level as mine before pressing my lips softly against his.

Aware that we may have an audience, I kept the kiss short but sweet and pulled away. A corner of his mouth tugged up and he rubbed my lower lip with his thumb and walked out, calling for Cayden and Isabella.

I composed myself and got back to work, ignoring the smirk on Rhett's face.

Later that night, once I had gotten home and had checked on all my children as they were sleeping, I headed to the bedroom to see Brendon reading through some documents and signing them.

"Is that the building permit for the childcare centre?" I asked as I placed my bag onto the desk in the room.

"Yes," he answered and looked up at. "At the exact same spot that you and the Council wanted."

"Oh good, when will construction start? The mothers have been constantly asking about it," I asked as I removed the jewellery I had been wearing except for my engagement ring and the wedding band and removed the light traces of makeup before settling into bed with him.

"Maybe next week when we have the supplies," he answered distractedly before scribbling something down.

A moment of silence ensued but it wasn't uncomfortable or anything like that. "Thank you for today," I started as I grabbed a pillow and hugged it. "You didn't have to settle dinner or look after the kids."

Brendon stopped and turned to me. "I didn't have to, no. But I wanted to."

I grinned and shrugged playfully. "I wonder what the elders would say, the Alpha doing housework and helping with homework while the Luna is off doing pack-related business."

Brendon snorted and rolled his eyes. "Times have changed and so have gender roles. The elders can accept it or leave it."

Laughter bubbled out of me before turning into a soft smile on my face, "Yes they have but thank you for sacrificing your time for me. I know you have loads of things to do and you could have done them if you weren't preparing dinner and stuff."

He reached out to tuck my hair behind my ear. "Yes, but we're partners, aren't we? We compromise and I thought it was fair for us to take turns doing the homework and dinner."

"You're such a softie," I said with a cheeky smirk on my face and Brendon rolled his eyes once more.

"It's a secret, now go get a shower, you need to rest. You work too hard."

I grinned at him before kissing him on the cheek.

I really had a fantastic life and I loved it all.
