Chapter 14

When Sean had imagined kissing Rania he was taken aback and Sybil understood something was wrong with him.

She looked at him and said" what's happening Sean ".

He didn't know himself, his minds was playing games he couldn't decipher either, or maybe it was just fate giving him signs that he had in front of him what was meant to be his in the first place.

He dismissed such notions and joined Sybil in bed again.

He knew that his mind was dwelling too much on that Indian girl. And it wasn't right .

He was punishing the Conwell's and nothing else, she was going to be left at the altar like his sister was, with the blame of selling her father out and in his opinion it was the best vengeance of all.

The week gone by and his bride- to - be wore his engagement ring.

Sean Knightley wasn't a cruel man but when it came to family ,he would go to any lengths. Plain Simple Loyalty that's all.

His sister Rachel had suffered at the hands of the Conwell's, and if they had thought that he had forgotten everything, they were mistaken because but he wasn't the one to forget but the one to seek and punish.

Mr Knightley Sr had arrived in the London just three days before his eldest son's wedding, he was oblivious to the events which had occurred in his absence.

He entered his home with a hearty smile and he was welcomed with happy smiles from his family.

Mrs Knightley was out in an exhibition for a month she would return a day after.

They were sitting at the dinner table when Adrian brought up the subject of the Conwell's. They told him everything, one thing in the Knightleys household was common and that was honesty.

Mr Knightley Sr listened attentively and he inquired" The eldest daughter of the Conwell's is Sarah? .

" No it's Rania, from his first wife" replied Sean.

Mr Knightley stood up from his chair and he gulped, it was fate or was it a chance for him to rectify his mistakes, he couldn't fathom.

" What are you planning to do next" he asked.

" Leave her at the altar like her brother did to my sister and then she can go to hell for all I care" Sean replied coolly.

Mr Knightley was in two minds whether to avenge his daughter or to rectify the mistake he made a long time ago.

He decided on the latter, his daughter was already avenged when half of that vile Conwell's son property was taken, but someone else was caught in between who he had to help.

" You are going to marry the girl" .

Sean was taken aback with what his father had said, he looked at him and said, " No I won't ,they deserve it dad".

" You are going to do exactly what I say " and left the room.

When they were just existing, it was normal, but when life happened they all became reluctant to accept it.

Rania stood in front of the mirror feeling helpless, weak and hurt. She never knew that her first time in London would change her life forever.

Today was her wedding ,there was no band, no music, no dancing, no mehendi, no haldi nothing just what her life had always thrown her way something which she had to accept.

She didn't want a life like her mother, a loveless marriage and  the repercussions were faced by her.

A torn childhood, divorced parents and a lifelong disbelieve in love and other relations.

But she was strong and she wouldn't back down.

She had an inkling that he wouldn't come for the wedding as her brother had done with his sister , but when she saw him get down from the car from her window ,all her hopes were squashed.

She was called down, she wasn't even dressed appropriately.

All were assembled in the study of Mr Conwell.

Sean and Rania were sitting on the chair, when Mr Knightley Sr came with the marriage registration papers, she was asked to sign, the way his father was speaking to her, it was odd and kind as the same time.

Her hands were shaking, her eyes were teary when Mr Conwell looked at her ,she signed herself and her life away.

Sean signed the papers.

According to the law they were married and then they exchanged the rings, Rania had a ring with a small diamond in the middle and Sean had a plain gold ring.

Now, according to the covenant laws they had to exchange their respective families crest.

Rania gave him a chain with a C locket.

Sean gave her a bracelet which had K dangling.

Now they were officially married.

And none could be more morose than this.

Rania went upstairs in her room and shut the door, slowly sliding down on the floor ,the reality sinking in and she cried aloud knowing no one would come for consolation, it was just her and her alone. She looked at the ring on her finger it was a prison.

Sean was downstairs drinking ,all his plans were foiled by his own father, he had to marry her, the girl who evoked unexplained emotions in him.

After several drinks, the groom was escorted to the bride's room, they would leave the next morning for the their house.

Sean entered her room ,she was sitting down in front of the bed, she immediately stood up when she saw him, he staggered towards her the alcohol taking its toll.
