Chapter 8
Same outfit of last chapter
Lynda and Roman walk over to the trailer as she stares at them. They came back enough for her to hop down. She hopped down, changing to her full form, hopping into Roman's arms. She squeaked as he cuddled her softly following Lynda inside the house. Kerrianne warmed up to his body heat as best she could.
'That was a close call." Kerrianne thought.
"You were scared of the big bad wolf, wasn't you?" Roman mumbled as he scratched behind her ear making Kerrianne close her eyes. Lynda watched them for a while before telling him they could stay to wait for Peter. He nodded, still paying attention to Kerrianne, who masked in his scent and cuddles.
By the time Peter busted into the trailer, it was morning, and they were asleep. Kerrianne laid as her hybrid self on top of Roman straddling him as her head laid on his chest. Roman's arms wrapped around her as they slept. Peter watched them with a small smile before Roman started waking up, sitting up with Kerrianne still on him.
"Could you believe she was a cute bunny last time I saw her?" Roman says as he puts her on to the couch.
"She's called a Lagomorph shifter. Her kind is at the bottom of the food chain." Peter said as he before going to change then sitting in the lone chair. Lynda brought him a cup of water. Mumbling a thank you, he started to drink.
"There's more." Roman questioned.
"A lot actually, but it's every blue moon that you'll see one." Peter replied.
"Which one is she?" Roman asked.
"She's a bunny. I'll have to apologize to her for last night." Peter answered as they both looked at a sleeping Kerrianne, who started reverting back to her original self before their eyes.
"I'm amazed at her." Roman cooed softly, touching her hair as she moved her head before getting comfortable again.
"I am too." Peter smiled before Roman turned his attention back to him.
"So how was it?" Roman questioned Peter.
"What?" Peter answers slightly, still feeling a little off from the turn.
"Something was out there. A scent." Peter continued now understanding what he was asking.
Of What? A Milk Bone?" Roman tried to Joke.
Peter looked at him with a serious look.
"Something bad." Peter answers before hearing mummering from Kerrianne, who started to toss and turn.
"Vargulf... Vargulf... It's a Vargulf." Kerrianne muttered as Peter called for Lynda while him and Roman tried to calm her down.
"Kerrianne, What's wrong?" Roman asked as they tried to shake her awake. Kerrianne still muttered Vargulf repeatedly. She unconsciously released her pheromone from the bad dream, she was making the boys by the call of Lynda back up.
It wasn't until she was almost dying in her dream did, she wake up. The boys stood back watching as Lynda comforted the bunny, as she softly cried.
"Oh Honey." Lynda whispered as they sat on the couch.
"What happened?" Roman called out.
"Umm Roman, what you saw don't tell anyone. I'll see you later at school." Peter said as he almost hurried Roman out.
Roman kind of stood outside staring at the door before walking off to get ready for school.
Peter sat down on the other side of Kerrianne as Lynda still comforted her.
"It's a Vargulf." Kerrianne says making both Lynda and Peter look at each other.
"How do you know sweetie?" Lynda questioned.
"The smell, she was out there in human form close but not close. She wants to kill me." Kerrianne said.
Bunnies were known to have heightened senses but to smell a Vargulf in human form at least was something unethical. Was Kerrianne something else also or was it the bond getting stronger as the days passed. But at least they knew the Vargulf was a female but who was she?
"I will not let her get you." Peter whispered to her as he nodded to Lynda that he had it before he cuddled with Kerrianne before he smoothed her back to sleep. That morning they dreamed of different things.
Kerrianne's dream:
Her in bunny form as she squeaked to get Roman and Peter 's attention as they stood on a bridge. It wasn't until she was attacked causing them to scream.
She wears her ritual lacy black night gown as she connects with her ancestors.
Her with Roman and Peter in bed together making love.
Her dad: "Once upon a time there was a bunny queen, who was the strongest of our kind with her Predator mates who united the supernatural world. No more prey and predators, only friends.
Her sitting on a throne
With that she woke up, as she looked over to a sleeping peter, rubbing her finger on his face softly before quietly getting up leaving. She walked up the steps to go to her car. She got in before driving off to her house. She was confused about the dreams. Bunny Queen was a story her father used to read her before his death. It was her favorite story. She always wanted to be like the Bunny Queen. She passed the Godfrey's mansion continuing her way home. She needed to find out more about the Bunny Queen.
Once she was let in, she drove to her home, getting out yelling good morning to sweet old lady Diane before hurrying in her house. She set her keys, heading upstairs to take a well needed bath to take a breather.
Peter's Pov: (After he told Roman that it was a Vargulf and they got in a fight)
Peter had gone to his cousin Destiny's place of work/home. Waiting for her behind the Beaded curtain as she cons a couple. Once hearing her yelling and the couple in a hurry to leave. He looked out to see her with blood around her mouth.
"Hey, sweetie. Let me just get clean up. Yes suckers." Destiny said with a smile as she sang the last part scooping the money in while closing the door.
Peter and Destiny were in her kitchen as she fixed herself some tea while Peter laid partially on the counter watching her as she spoke.
"It's not your problem. The vargulf is dangerous but short lived. It's like...any other disease. It only gets stronger until it consumes you." Destiny says while pouring herself some tea.
"So, he's going to kill again." Peter assumed making Destiny nod before putting down the kettle.
"Mm-hmm, He won't stop..until he destroys himself, which really in the end is what he wants the most. This isn't mild-mannered Bruce Banner. This is Norman Bates. Just... stay out the way and let nature take its course." Destiny said as put her sugar spoon in the sink.
"But... I mean, theoretically...there's no way to help him even if we knew who it was?" Peter spoke, messing with his fingers.
"Have you been sniffing rubber cement? Why are you talking like this?" Destiny questioned him.
"I'm just saying, if we knew who she was?" Peter says, making Destiny look at him.
"She?" Destiny questioned.
"It might be a female vargulf." Peter stated.
"And how do you know this?" Destiny put her cup down.
"There's this Lagomorph Shifter." Peter says.
"Lagomorph Shifter?!" Destiny said.
"She goes to my school. She's, my mate." Peter continues.
"Okay. Let me know something. What other things did she tell you?" Destiny analyzed.
"That it's a woman vargulf and that it wanted to kill her." Peter said, sitting back into the chair.
"Interesting... You need to bring her here one day." Destiny cheekily smiled at him.
"But yeah, I'd put a bullet in between her eyes before the next turn." Destiny continued getting back on track about the vargulf.
Destiny thought it was interesting that this Lagomorph shifter thought the vargulf was after her but that would depend on which branch, she was. But she was more surprised that a predator, such as her cousin, was this girl's mate.
"Hm." Peter says thinking.
"Hm? What are you not telling me?" Destiny asked Peter who was looking towards her after she interrupted his thoughts.
"There's this Upir." Peter spoke.
"What?" Destiny questions her cousin where he is going with this.
"He's this kid at my school, but I'm pretty sure, he doesn't know it." Peter continued.
" You've asked him?" Destiny insisted.
"Jesus Christ! No, I haven't asked him. But he's confused. I would know if he's bullshitting me. I don't know, he's... trying to be the good guy or something." Peter asserted.
"What the fuck are you and Upir having a heart-to heart about good guys and bad guys for? Do you think I'm just blood capsules and parlor tricks? Hey! You're my cousin and I love you, but do not make me go in there." Destiny yelled at Peter pointing to his head at the last sentence.
"He knows. He was there for the last turn." Peter reluctantly said.
"What the Fuck, Peter?!" Destiny exclaimed standing up.
"The one thing that you don't ever ever tell anyone with your feet on hot coal. You only let an Upir watch." Destiny continued as she walked around the sofa.
"He wasn't the only one there. Kerrianne was there for God sakes". Peter retorted.
"Your mate? She was there?!" Destiny gasped.
"She... They're my mates." Peter finally said, watching Destiny for her reaction.
Destiny had to sit down and sip some of her tea to calm herself.
"Wait what?" Destiny stressed.
"Every time I'm around them, there's this heartbeat that beats as one like our souls are connected. I almost attacked my mate." Peter says feeling bad for himself.
With Kerrianne not being at school after he spent the morning consoling her upsetted him. He thought she would hate him for almost attacking her.
"She didn't come to school today. After I comforted her of the bad dream, and we fell asleep when I woke up, she was gone." Peter stated.
"Wait what type of Lagomorph shifter is she?" Destiny wondered.
"Bunny why?" Peter answered.
Destiny started thinking of a bunny shifter and two predators for mates, then she thought of the story her father used to tell her.
About the Legend of the Bunny Queen.
