"stop the flying balls!" (Part 1)
■ Another off-screen moment!
________________
After a particularly gruelling rehearsal, the group made their way out of the building.
Isaac turned to the others.
"Do you think Miss Laine was mad that we spent ten minutes watching the snow fall?"
Kennedy shook her head.
"No way!
You said so yourself, snow is so rare here, especially this time of year.
Even Miss Laine stopped for a couple minutes."
"She's probably just stressed out.
I mean, we all are", said Camryn.
"Yeah.
By the way, we're well overdue for a group hang out session", said Weronika.
"Hopefully we can all go to the movies or something when the show's over", said Maxon.
Darius' eyes widened.
"Dude, I-"
Darius was cut off by a loud gasp from Camryn.
"Who's giving birth?", asked Stanley.
Camryn pointed to the fresh blankets of snow covering the courtyard.
She held her hand out, smiling softly when the snowflakes landed on her hand.
"It's settled!", exclaimed Darius.
He kicked off his shoes and ran outside, jumping up and down in it.
Without warning, Camryn followed him and twirled around, child-like laughed escaping her lips as she did so.
Leonie smiled sweetly when she saw her girlfriend acting so carefree. Unbeknownst to her, Camryn had a lot of good memories of her family playing in the snow.
Amethyst stared intensely at a smooth patch of snow.
She was transported to a very distant memory.
Amethyst's father cradled his youngest child in his arms.
Before it all went wrong, Amethyst's father was full of hope that his wife would get better.
"Tell me another story about Mum, Dad!"
Her father chuckled.
"Ok, well... how about the one with the snow?"
Amethyst's eyes widened and she gasped.
"Snow?"
He nodded.
"Yes.
When your mother first came here, she hadn't seen snow.
It does snow over there, but never as much as it did that day.
She watched as all the children played in the snow and made snowmen."
"What did Mum do?"
"She took off her shoes and walked in the snow... barefoot."
Amethyst's jaw dropped.
"But snow's like, really cold!"
He nodded, a laugh escaping her lips. "She squealed so much.
She saw me laughing and burst into laughter herself.
Then she walked around in it.
She liked the soft crunch it made and the sound she heard."
Amethyst smiled.
"When Mum gets out of the Hospital, I'm so going to do that with her!"
Amethyst felt a lump form in her throat, and she quickly shook her head to push that memory back.
She didn't even notice a curious Eli watch as she took her heels off and walked into the snow.
She squealed, before dissolving into a fit of giggles when she pictured her Mum's startled face.
She put one foot in front of the other, closing her eyes so she could focus on the delicate crunching sound of the snow beneath her feet.
Gentle footsteps beside her pulled her away from her thoughts, and she raised an eyebrow when she saw Eli beside her.
"Race you?"
Before she could answer, Eli took off running and Amethyst had no choice but to run twice as fast- she wasn't going to let him win.

Maxon made a tiny snowball, grinning when he saw Kennedy walk past. "Heads up, babe!"
He threw the snowball, chuckling when it landed on her shoulder.
Kennedy turned to face him, and his smile slowly disintegrated when he saw the light leave her eyes.
"Kenny?
I didn't hurt you, did I?"
A menacing smirk appeared on her face and she threw her head back as she laughed, seemingly mocking him. "Oh, Maxon..."
Leonie's eyes widened.
"Oh no..."
"What?
What's happening?", asked Maxon.
"You've just unleashed Snow Fight", replied Leonie.
"Snow what?", questioned Maxon.
Leonie ignored him, and instead held her hand out to Kennedy, who had already constructed two snowballs. "Come on, Kennedy... show some mercy here."
"What the heck is going on?", asked Stanley.
Kennedy raised the two snowballs, and an intense fear flashed across Leonie's face.
"TAKE COVER!"
Leonie pushed people towards one of the benches, almost falling to the ground as she got underneath it too.
"What's going on?", asked Camryn.
"Kennedy takes snowball fights very seriously.
I've still got bruises from the first time we had a snowball fight", said Leonie.
"Oh, you've royally f*cked it, Maxie", said Stanley.
"What do we do now?", asked Weronika.
"The only thing we can do.
Beg for mercy", said Isaac.
Isaac stood up despite protests from the others.
He held his hands up.
"I come in peace!"
"No!
Don't be a martyr, little man!", called out Stanley.
"Am I the only one who's surprised that he knows what that word means?", questioned Amethyst.
Kennedy smirked and threw two snowballs at Isaac, with both of them landing in his hair, crushing against his curls.
Eli stood up immediately.
"That's too far!", he exclaimed.
He inhaled deeply.
"FOR MAYOR, TOWN, AND ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THIS WORLD!
AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, PROTECT THE HAIR!"
Eli's warrior cry rippled through the air, and he ran towards Isaac. He formed a protective barrier over Isaac's hair with his hands.
The others looked at each other, and they all screamed and charged towards the scene.
In a bizarre twist of fate, the group ended up in two teams.
Maxon, Amethyst, Darius and Stanley were on a team led by Leonie
(who decided she was the only one who had enough experience with Kennedy's snowball fights.)
Isaac, Eli, Weronika and Camryn were on a team led by Kennedy.
Camryn knew her sole reason for joining Kennedy's team was so she could throw snowballs at Darius.
Kennedy threw a snowball between her hands, glaring at the opposing team. "Let's do this!"
