When younger, Cody was drawing when he heard sounds. He got up and brought his picture with him, and stood outside the door, listening to the argument. Joe ( about 3 years older than Cody ) asks him what he's doing and Cody looks at Joe. His parents started yelling louder and eventually, his dad hit his mum. He didn't know that but they both heard the cry. Joe took him away from the door and looked at the picture, which was all of them standing together.

About 4 years later, Cody and Joe come in to see their father walking away from their mother, bleeding and bruised. Joe wouldn't let Cody see, so he told him to look out for their father.

As he came back, Cody yelled a word of warning, before getting pushed aside. Joe gets yelled at and before he can be hit as well, Cody screams for him to stop. Poseidon turned around and yelled at Cody to 'Shut his little brat mouth before I make you' And punches him in the mouth.

Cerebia and Joe both go to Cody and run away, going to court to have a divorce, but Poseidon gets to keep one of the boys.

"Which one will you keep?"

"Cody."

From that day on until Cody was 16 and Joe was 19 they meet up by accident in a shop, Joe working there. Cody doesn't talk and was very skinny, and soon Joe finds out that their father had been torturing him basically, hardly giving him enough to eat and drink and once, even put a muzzle on his beak to shut him up for 2 years. He had only been sent out to get some stuff.

Joe takes Cody home to his mum, and they both welcome Cody back with open arms. He goes through the rest of his life on the run from his father, being a mute at school due to fear, and being malnourished, scared and depressed.

Luckily, there's a certain guy at school who makes him feel better...
