37.) Searching
The Paranormal Liberation Front's 10 top officers are currently in a meeting to discuss further plans. Shigaraki is currently with the doctor to become more powerful, so he's absent from the meeting. Hawks just left after updating them on all he's doing to help.
Lunox usually is the one to attend the meetings, leaving Kivi trapped in her own mind as she listens in on to what's happening. Lunox likes to keep her conscious enough to hear the devastation of the future she'll cause. Whenever Lunox is in control, she turns off Kivi's quirk from working, mainly to prevent Kivi from trying to take over.
Once the meeting is over, Lunox returns control of Kivi's body to Kivi and secludes herself in the back of her mind to prepare without Kivi knowing what's going on. Usually, during this time, Kivi's eyes return to their normal green. Green eyes mean that whatever Kivi says to anyone else, Lunox won't know about it. Lunox is only present when Kivi's eyes are purple. So Kivi needs to act quickly.
Right when Lunox left and Kivi took over, Kivi quickly sensed all the lingering feathers around the room. Hawks was listening to the meeting. Good.
Kivi leaves the room, following his aura.
Twice comes up behind her, swinging an arm over her shoulder. "Heading to the cafeteria, Apate? Me too! I'm hungry! No, I'm not! I'll come with you! I hate being with you!"
"You two heading for a bite to eat? Mind if I tag along?" Redestro asks.
"No one likes your ugly mug! Sure!" Twice shouts.
Kivi grumbles to herself as they make their way to the cafeteria. Luckily that's where Hawks is located.
Redestro sees Hawks ahead of them—not being allowed to enter the cafeteria from the guard out front—and quickens his pace to meet Hawks first. "You've been handing the book out to heroes." Hawks turns to the man with a flat look. "Not only have you clearly read it, but you've grasped the true essence of what Destro stood for. So good to have another true believer with us."
Twice walks up beside Hawks to whisper not so softly. "Honestly, I still don't get it! Wanna fill me in sometime?"
"Sure! It's not too tricky," Hawks agrees.
"With you spreading the word, our liberation ideology will permeate society faster than ever! Your fan base is the 10-to-20 demographic, and winning them over would be huge," Redestro grins happily.
Kivi shoves her way through the two up to Hawks. She gives him a look as if saying to go along with it once he meets her eyes. She moves forward to hug him. "I've missed you."
It takes Hawks' mind a second to catch up before he returns the hug, figuring she'll explain later. He did notice the color change in her eyes after all. Something is different. He smiles, patting the top of her head. "Me too, doll."
"H-Huh?!" Twice shrieks, pointing at the two. "What's this treachery?!"
Kivi remains hugging him but pulls herself back to look up at him with a happy smile. "We can finally be together more often." She sighs, puffing her cheeks in a pout. "It was hard to date when I was at UA."
Hawks gives her a mischievous smile before kissing her forehead and releasing each other. "No kidding."
"WHAAAAT?! You two are DATING?! SINCE WHEN?! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T TELL ME!"
Kivi chuckles, turning to the two actual villains. "Well... it was a spur of the moment thing..." she sheepishly replies, dragging the tip of her right foot along the ground in embarrassment and keeping her face directed toward the floor. "It was a little after we first met when we helped Endeavor fight that Nomu..."
"Yeah, asked her out on a date," Hawks continues, catching on. "Couldn't help myself. She's gorgeous." He wraps his arms around her waist from behind, earning a light gasp and giggle from Kivi. "We've kept it a secret for so long cause of the age difference and how others would treat us, but we trust all of you enough now to finally tell you."
Twice tears up. "That's so beautifulll!!! Aaah! Togaaa!" He then rushes off to find said girl.
Redestro smiles at them. "Congrats then. I'm starved, so I'm eating." He enters the cafeteria after the guard lets him in.
Kivi intertwines her fingers with Hawks and begins to drag them down the hall. "I have some food in my room since they won't let you in here. You love your chicken, right?" Kivi says as she begins to lead them to her room.
"I do."
They remain silent as she enters her shared room with Aki.
Aki perks up once he sees his sister enter. "Kivi!"
She smiles, letting Hawks' hand go as she moves to her brother's bed to ruffle his hair. "You doing alright?"
"Yeah... I'm bored though," he complains then sees Hawks enter. "Hawks!"
"Hey again, boy Kivi," Hawks jokes as he closes the door to the room behind them. He's quick to notice she has audio recording devices placed in two upper corners of her room.
"Well watch some tv. Hawks and I have some much-needed catching up to do," Kivi says, leading him over to her bed.
Kivi uses her quirk to cover her bed in a shield after Hawks sits beside her. Then she uses her quirk to completely encase his wings.
He looks at her confused. "What're you doing?"
She holds up her finger for a second, taking out a phone she stole from a random liberation member. She pulls up a porn website and finds a good long video, pressing play then putting it inside the shield with his wings.
"My shields can block out sound. That way they won't be able to hear our private conversation and instead will think we're having a bit of fun. We have 38 minutes to talk until the porn video is done, so we need to talk quickly." She sighs.
"Smart."
"First things first. Don't ever talk to me like this if my eyes are purple. That's when the true villain side of me is out and about, and Lunox will tell everyone about our conversations. Second, thank you for playing along. I figured that's the only way they would let us talk if they thought we were a thing. Now, tell me everything that you're doing to take the villains down. I wanna help. Let me tell you about how and why I'm here first though."
...
"We really shouldn't be out and about. So hurry up and tell them off, so we can be on our way," Dabi scoffs, hiding in his jacket.
"There's one close to us," Kivi says. "You should probably hide yourself. I'll go see him." She flicks her hood up.
"Just hurry up."
For the past week, Kivi's class has been searching for her. She's able to tell and feel it. Shinso is also searching on his own time. He always goes out at the same time and goes through different areas.
Kivi makes her way through the back alleyways to cut off her classmate.
"Fuck off, will you?" Kivi scoffs, pushing him back before he runs into her.
Bakugo whips his head up at the familiar voice. "Finally, I found you! I've been trying to fucking find you for days."
"I know. I've been constantly avoiding you," Kivi admits. Doing her job has been incredibly difficult when having to avoid them. "It's starting to get annoying, so I've decided to confront you. Tell the others to stop searching for me too."
"You're cornered. You have nowhere to run."
"Kats–"
"No," he angrily cuts her off, fists shaking at his sides. "You don't get to call me that after you betrayed all of us. My name is Dynamight, and I'm gonna be the hero to take you down."
She flinches before pulling down the hood of her cloak. "Well... Dynamight, considering every other time we've fought, I've kicked your ass, so think again."
He roars and sends an explosion straight at her to which she simply throws up a shield to block it. She quickly drains him of energy, leaving enough for him to stay awake. Kivi moves over and props him up along the wall of the alleyway all while he snarls at her. He tries to move, to do anything, but he's much too weak by the power drain.
"Fuck you..." he croaks out.
She backs away and looks at him sadly. "You know... I expected most of our class would quickly accept me as a villain and view me as one. I never was really open or friendly to anyone, and I mostly kept everything about myself secret. I figured only a couple chosen few would try their hardest to get me back. All of them saying that I'm a hero, not a villain," Kivi says solemnly. "I figured that you'd be one of them... Guess I was wrong." She turns away to not see his gaze lingering on her, looking to the ground. Tears well up in her eyes. She whispers loud enough for him to hear. "If you feel that way about me, then I guess I truly am where I belong... I'm... the perfect fit for the villain role."
Dabi walks out from his hiding spot. "You finished?"
"Yeah, he should get the message now," she replies, wiping her eyes before looking back to Bakugo. "Tell the others to stop as soon as you see them, or I'll attack them all soon. Do not bring them around anymore especially Shinso. Two strikes later three." She finishes with those words, and they vanish from sight. She hopes he'll get her coded message.
Bakugo groans, his head lulling to the side in exhaustion. Tears well up in his eyes, dribbling down his cheeks. "Please come back... to all of us... We miss you..."
Midoriya was hiding from around the corner, arriving at the same time Dabi did and hearing her last words. What did she mean by two strikes later three?
~~~
The two return to the PLF's hideout where Hawks is waiting out front.
"Doll!" he grins, pulling Kivi into a hug. "I missed you!"
Dabi grunts, pursing his lips in disgust. "Go do your lovey-dovey shit when I'm not around. Go somewhere else."
Hawks sticks his tongue out at him. "That sounds like a good idea." He pulls Kivi close. "Let's go have some fun." He tugs her all the way to her room.
She does the same thing she always does when they have their 'fun.' Sound blocking shields, so they can talk.
"The pieces are in place. They're ready," Hawks reports. "Just got the phone call a little while ago."
"Good. I managed to get the small bomb out of my brother. It was a painful process, but I managed to get it done. We cut around it, so it still thinks it's in his body. I wouldn't have been able to do it if he didn't have the regeneration part of his quirk."
~~~
Midoriya along with the rest of his class has returned to the dorms after Bakugo was taken out. He told them of her last words. They're currently in the common room, trying to decode her secret message.
"Tell the others to stop as soon as you see them, or I'll attack them all soon. Do not bring them around anymore especially Shinso. Two strikes later three..." Midoriya says, tapping a pencil against his chin. Written on a paper in front of him are those exact words.
"So, later is a synonym of after," Momo says. "Maybe she means 'two strikes after three'?"
Midoriya thinks about it, eyes widening then begins to cross out words. "I got it!"
Tell the others t̶o̶ ̶s̶t̶o̶p̶ as soon as you see them, o̶r̶ ̶I̶'̶l̶l̶ attack t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ soon. D̶o̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ bring them a̶r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶m̶o̶r̶e̶ especially Shinso.
"Tell the others as soon as you see them attack soon. Bring them especially Shinso," Momo reads.
"Holy shit! We need to tell Aizawa sensei!" Kaminari shouts.
...
Kivi was on her way to Dabi's room. Curious as to what he's up to. He's been out of it lately, lost in thought. He hasn't cracked his usual asshole quips for a few days, and Kivi has finally earned some free time to go interrogate him.
She finds his door locked. Instead of knocking, she uses her quirk to open the door. "Oi, what're you–" She cuts herself off seeing him sitting in a chair without a shirt in front of a video camera.
"There's a fucking reason the door was locked!" he huffs.
She blinks, frozen for a few seconds before her face twists in disgust. "Okaay..." She purses her lips with a furrowed brow. "I'm just... gonna go now... I'll leave you to record yourself pleasuring yourself."
"That's not what's going on, you little shit!" he shouts.
"What the fuck else would you be doing alone in a room, half-naked, and in front of a video camera? And who the fuck would wanna see your crusty burnt ass dick?"
He clicks his tongue as multiple tick marks form all over his head. "You really tick me off, you know that?"
Kivi grins. "I try to."
"I'm recording a message to the public," he answers her previous question. "To reveal my past and how awful Endeavor is a human."
"Oh."
"You should too."
"Huh?"
"Join me and tell your story."
"My story?"
"Of how you became a villain," he says.
"Oh, that you guys targeted my kid brother, put a bomb in him, to make me join you?"
"That's not what I meant."
"You know nothing about me," Kivi scoffs. "Don't act like you do."
Dabi smirks. "I know more than you think. Little Kivi's plans of becoming a villain until her little brother came along. Big boss trained you and made you become Lunox. Then you went and destroyed Paris, making you have to live here. Parents abused you. You had to live up to their expectations, and they were never satisfied. You and I, we're very similar. We can't go home."
Kivi glares at him. "Fine, two can play at that game. You wanted to prove yourself to daddy so much that you trained and trained to meet his expectations. You wanted to be a hero so bad, but he rejected you because your body couldn't handle it." She crosses her arms, enjoying as his expression becomes increasingly angrier. "So instead of being a hero, you became a villain. Instead of proving him wrong as a hero, you became a villain. For what? Because he pushed you away? Sounds like he was protecting you to not hurt yourself and make you look like how you do now. You're just a cry-baby little bitch."
Flames engulf the room. Kivi foresaw it and covered everything in a shield.
"Shut the fuck up!"
"Oh? Did I hit a nerve?" she mocks.
"Get the fuck out."
"Make me. You don't have anything over me. You don't possess the detonation button."
"Get. Out."
She sighs. "Touya."
He flinches at the simple word. "I didn't give you permission to call me that."
"What would your hero name of been?" She smiles sadly. "Hopefully one day I can see that person. When you're ready for that day, come to me, and I'll help you start over."
