27.) Seven Feet
OMG I literally wrote everyone's name on strips of paper and drew them. These are the results...
I'm sorry Izuku and Ochaco...
OMG I've been saying invisible girl so much I forgot her name! lololol
Mineta isn't included bc it's obvious later on lol.
Uh, I don't think I've made it clear but when I put (...) between paragraphs it means the next day. (~~~) means later the same day.
Sorry this took so long... it's a long one.
On to the chapter! This is a long one so buckle up!
...
"For this week's assignment, you're going to be paired together and work together through your normal daily routine," Aizawa sighs. "Mineta, you'll be given another assignment as I can't trust you with this one."
"Aww man..." Mineta groans.
"I have a box with all your names. I'll draw each out, and you'll be paired with the next person," Aizawa explains. "This is because when you're doing hero work you don't always get to choose who you work with. Pairs will be random most of the time." He places a bag full of bracelets on the desk in front of him. "Inside this bag are bracelets that will connect you to your partner. It doesn't matter which arm you put it on. When you and your partner get seven feet away from each other, a rope will appear and prevent you from moving any further away."
Momo raises her hand. "So we'll be stuck together for a full week? What about when we shower or use the restroom if we have the opposite gender with us?"
"You'll have to figure that out yourself," Aizawa answers lazily. "Time to find out who you're paired with." He moves to the box beside the bag and reaches in as everyone waits with bated breath. He pulls out the first slip of paper. "Kivi."
"Fuck, why do I gotta be the first one?" Kivi complains, slumping on her desk as everyone glances at her.
He pulls out the next one. "Todoroki."
Everyone in the class looks between them. The two most powerful of the class... and most attractive.
Kivi shrugs and sighs. "Honestly probably the most reasonable would be you. I'm fine with this."
Aizawa continues, pulling out the next two. "Kirishima and Ojiro."
"Alright!" Kirishima says, high-fiving Mashi.
Kirishima honestly would probably be fine with whoever he was paired with. They quickly decide they'll stay in Ojiro's room.
"Sero and Tokoyami. Shoji and Aoyama. Bakugo..." He pauses as he pulls out the next one, thinking if these two should be paired or not. He sighs. "I shouldn't let the two of you pair up... but... Bakugo... and Midoriya."
"Fuck that!" Bakugo shouts.
"Sensei you can't!" Ochaco shouts, slamming her hands on her desk.
"I agree," Iida says with his weird hand gestures.
Many of the other students complain as well.
"Shut up!" Bakugo shouts, turning to glare at everyone. "If you all think I can't handle the damn nerd than I'll kill you!"
"Bipolar..." Kivi mumbles.
"I'm not gonna get any sleep," Mineta groans. "All the shouting..."
"Shut the hell up, little pervert! I'm not sleeping in that fanboy covered room!"
Izuku just shrinks further into his seat.
"Like you have room to talk, you have like 7 All Might posters in your room," Kivi says. "Maybe even more action figures than Izuku."
His face flushes as everyone chuckles. "Shut up, blueberry! No one fucking asked you!"
"Sato and Hagakure," Aizawa continues, ignoring everyone's snickering and banter. "Ashido and Koda. Asui and Jiro. Yaoyorozu and Iida. Uraraka and Kaminari. Pair up and get your bracelets on. The shared bracelets are already connected. They won't come off until I administer them to. If you can't handle being stuck together for a week you fail the assignment."
After everyone gets hooked up, they all move seats to be beside their partners.
~~~
After school comes a lot quicker than everyone thought it would. The only slight problem was Bakugo fussing with Izuku over something, but that was typical. Detention with Hitoshi was postponed until after this little project was done.
Kivi moves over to Shoto. "We gotta go pick up my brother."
Kivi hasn't been able to pick up Aki from the preschool for the past couple weeks because of the work study internship and festival, having to pick him up from Mayu's house instead. She hasn't been able to take her panthers out either until nighttime like before.
"Okay."
The walk to the preschool was silent, the only sound being their quiet steps. It got loud as they got closer to the preschool near the city as more people cruise around.
They enter the preschool and the front lady immediately perks up.
"Ah, Kivichan, it's been awhile since I've seen you picking Akiba up."
"I've been really busy with hero work with the school," Kivi answers with a fake smile.
She turns to Shoto. "And who have you brought with you this time?"
"Another classmate," Kivi says, holding up her braceleted wrist. "We can't be seven feet apart or we get yanked back. He's my partner for the week."
"That seems troublesome."
Kivi nods in agreement. "Aki outside?"
"Yes."
Kivi nods and leads Shoto back to the playground.
The teacher outside notices Kivi through the door's window and calls out for Aki, saying his sister is here to pick him up.
Shoto and Kivi step outside and wait for Aki to run over. A few of the students seemingly recognize Shoto and rush up to him.
"You're fivepeepee man!"
"Mr. Willy!"
Kivi looks to him as they rush over to him and bursts out laughing at the names.
"Show us your quirk again!"
Shoto bends down and lights both his hands up with his quirk.
Aki rushes up with his little herd behind him. Gyaku, Kotora, Hana, and three other kids Kivi doesn't know. She recognizes them as the students from the future.
Hana rushes up with excited eyes. "Can you show me your quirk now?!"
Kivi chuckles and bends down, creating all sorts of little energy creatures to roam around the area. Unicorns, cats, dogs, dolphins, sharks, snakes, and birds all flow around in the air.
"You can make things other than shields?" Shoto asks.
"Yeah with lots of concentration," Kivi says. "Gotta be able to do something to entertain the kids I will end up rescuing."
"Smart."
"So, are these the friends you were talking about?" Kivi asks.
"Yeah!" Aki exclaims. He points to a boy with silver hair and yellow eyes who's dressed well. "This is Misuto! Misuchan!"
"Kemuri Misuto," the boy sheepishly says, crossing his arms.
Aki points at a green haired boy with red eyes and glasses who's paying attention to his stuffed rabbit. "That's Junan! Juchan!"
Junan turns for a second. "Kuno Junan."
Aki points to the final boy. "And this is Hideo! Hichan!"
Hideo has purple hair with a slightly different purple color for his eyes. "Gomu Hideo."
Aki smiles. "Misuchan's quirk is called mist! Juchan has techno... technopathy? And Hichan has a rubber body quirk!"
They each show Kivi their quirks.
"That's really cool!"
"Yeah, and we all wanna be heroes!" Aki exclaims.
"Then I'll be sure to recommend some of you if I can," Kivi says, remembering them all from the future. "Well, Aki, you ready to go home?"
"Yeah!" he quickly hugs all his friends before going with Kivi and Shoto. "What's Sho senpai doing here?"
"He's my partner in a new project," Kivi says. "He'll be staying with us for this week. Watch this." She rushes forward a bit, causing the rope to appear between the two bracelets and lightly jerking her back. "We can't be far away from each other."
"Cool! I get to spend more time with you senpai!" Aki's eyes shine as he looks to Shoto.
Shoto gives him a small smile and ruffles the top of his hair. "Seems so."
"We'll stop by your room, so you can get whatever you need," Kivi says. "We're staying in my room."
He nods as they return to the dorms. They head up to his room and he gathers some clothes for the week along with other necessities. "Okay."
Kivi looks at the sleeping bag curled under his arm. "You can leave that here. You're sleeping in my bed with me."
"But–"
"No buts. My bed is too large for you to even think of being on the floor. Hope you don't mind Hades and Lucifer curling up with us. They like to sleep on the bed with me."
"I don't mind. Are you sure?"
"It's not like we have a choice. I have to be there with Aki and Eri and my cats."
"Okay."
They head up to her suite and get everything fixed up for his stay. The three return downstairs to figure out how the baths will work for the week.
"I suggest that everyone who has the same gender paired with them goes to their normal sides first then each side be used for the opposite genders with one each," Momo explains.
"I agree," Iida exclaims.
"That's fine with me," Kaminari says.
"Who's making dinner tonight?" Kirishima asks.
Mashi glances at the schedule. "Looks like it's Kivi-san, Jiro, and Tsu."
"Sweet!" invisible cheers.
"I love when Kivi-san makes dinner!" Kirishima shouts excitedly.
Kivi groans. "Alright, assholes, let's see what amazing dish I can make everyone tonight."
~~~
After dinner and a bath, Eri, Shoto, Akiba, and Kivi head upstairs to sleep. After tucking in the two younger kids, Shoto and Kivi climb into her large bed. Shoto keeps himself as far from her as he can out of respect. They fall asleep with little trouble.
That is until Kivi's woken up by a silent scream.
Kivi shoots up and looks at Shoto who's getting up from the sudden shift.
"What's wrong?" Shoto sleepily asks, rubbing his eyes.
"It's Eri, come on," Kivi tells him and they head over to Eri's room.
She continues releasing silent screams, loud only to Kivi, as she tosses and turns in the sheets. Her horn has grown to about half a foot.
"What do we do?" Shoto asks, moving closer.
Kivi grabs Shoto's shoulder, preventing him from getting closer. He looks at her in confusion and freezes in place.
"Don't go any closer or she could hurt you," Kivi says, activating her quirk and moving closer to Eri. She grabs Eri's flailing wrist, cutting off Eri's quirk, her horn returning to a small bump. Eri continues to squirm as Kivi pulls the younger girl into her lap and cradles her. "Ssh, ssh. Eri. You're okay." Kivi begins to lightly sing as she rocks back and forth. "There is a castle on a cloud..." She continues to spew out comforting words and begins to radiate calming energy for Eri to calm down. "She says Eri, I love you very much..."
Shoto is frozen to the spot he stands and it's not his quirk's fault. He hasn't seen this side of Kivi. He never knew she could be so... motherly? Caring? Sweet? Loving? He's seen a few small instances with Akiba, but it's never been like this.
Eri calms and slowly wakes up. "Nee-san...?"
"It's okay, Eri. I'm right here. Go back to sleep."
Eri closes her eyes, burying into Kivi.
"Is... she okay now?" Shoto asks, unknowing what to do.
"Yes," Kivi answers.
"Does... this happen a lot?"
"It used to happen a bunch," Kivi answers and begins to run her fingers through Eri's hair tiredly. "She's gotten much better. This is the first she's freaked in about two weeks." Kivi adjusts herself and Eri to lay down and scoots over to make room for Shoto. "Get in and cover us with the blanket. Keep her warm, she gets cold easily."
Shoto doesn't question and does as told, making sure to get the warm side of his body closer to the two girls.
The door to the room creaks open and Akiba pops his head in. "Is nee-san okay?"
"Yes, Aki, come in and snuggle too."
He doesn't waste any time and shuffles himself between Shoto and Eri.
"Goodnight," Aki mumbles as he curls into Shoto.
"Goodnight," Kivi and Shoto reply.
...
Every school morning, Aizawa heads up to Kivi's suite to get Eri and take her to where she needs to go for that day at UA. Kivi originally was gonna do this, but they decided it'd be best for Aizawa to do it as Kivi needs to take Aki to preschool. Kivi typically gets the two children ready for the day. She'll even braid and do different hairstyles for Eri if they have time.
Aizawa enters the suite, petting whatever cats come up to him for a few seconds. He stands up confused, expecting his kids to be downstairs and ready as they usually are at this time. He doesn't even hear any movement except for the occasional cat scampering across the room.
He decides to head up to Kivi's room and knocks on the door. "Kivi? Todoroki?" He gets no answer. "I'm coming in." He opens the door to find two panthers on the bed but no Kivi or Todoroki. He moves off to Eri's room and enters after no reply from knocking.
All curled on the bed are the four kids. Aizawa stands there for a bit, thinking that they look like one big family. Eri's white hair with Todoroki's white hair and then Aki being literally a male child version of Kivi. Aki even has the same type of hair as Todoroki. He shakes his head with a light chuckle, moving over to shake Todoroki awake.
Shoto groans at the movement but doesn't wake up.
Aizawa sighs and leans over him to shake Kivi instead. His mind runs through the thought that he feels like a dad. Waking up his students was definitely not in his paycheck.
Kivi groans. "10 more minutes... papa..." After she says that she jerks awake with wide eyes and surrounds herself along with the others in a shield. After gathering her bearings and noticing it's not her father but Aizawa, she releases her shield.
Aizawa quirks an eyebrow at her behavior, noticing the worry on her face. "What was that?"
"Nothing you need to worry about," she answers and yawns. "You're here early..."
"We'll come back to your panicked face from being awoken by your 'papa' later," Aizawa sighs, knowing her father must've done something harmful to her when she ignores him to wake up. "I'm on time."
Kivi's eyes slightly widen, now wide awake. Not being in her own room meant her alarm didn't wake her. "Then that means we're behind!" She scrambles up, shaking the three others in the bed. "Get up! We're late!"
Akiba is the first to wake and tiredly rubs his eyes. "Late...?"
"Aki, go use the bathroom! We gotta hurry!" She jumps out the bed and continues to get the other two up as Aki heads out the room to the bathroom. "Eri! Shoto! Get up!"
Eri wakes but Shoto still rests. Eri heads off into a different bathroom. Kivi ends up shoving Shoto on the floor then he finally wakes up. Aizawa smirks as he leaves the room and heads to the couch in the living room of the suite, petting the cats that come to him.
Kivi pulls the tired Shoto into her room and immediately strips off her shirt to leave herself in her sports bra. Shoto is too tired to realize at first then does and turns away.
"Uh... Kivi..."
"We don't have time for you to be shy! You act like we've never seen the opposite gender's parts! We've even bathed together. Jeez, I still have a bra on! It's almost the same as a bikini! Hurry up and get into your uniform!"
He moves over to grab his stuff, luckily being within the seven feet. With their backs to each other, they change into their uniforms quickly. The two head back into Eri's room to get her ready then move to Aki's to get him ready.
They rush downstairs, handing Eri off to Aizawa. The two leave. Kivi rushes around the kitchen with Shoto tagging along behind her as she feeds her big cats. The other cats have an automatic food dispenser now. She gets Shoto a bowl of rice to eat topped with an egg. Her and her brother have a little taste of home, a croissant.
The three rush out the door, not sparing any of their classmates a glance. It's 8:00. School starts at 8:25. That gives them 25 minutes to head to the preschool and back. It takes about 10 minutes each way.
So, of course they manage to run into problems.
First was a purse thief which Shoto encased in ice then got scolded for using his quirk without a license. Second was someone trying to steal a car. Third was a bank robbery which Kivi easily handled by draining the criminals of all their energy before they even realized what was happening. Then they had to chat with the police.
Each of the three got media attention, especially the bank robbery. Xantara and Icyhot (as Kivi called him) saving the day on the way to preschool. Their classmates phones were binging all over the place.
The three make it to the preschool and head back to Aki's classroom. Kivi bends down to Aki's level.
He gives her a hug. "Bye! See you later!"
"Be good and all that stuff."
"I will!" He gives her a final hug before turning and hugging Shoto's legs too. "Bye Sho senpai!" He scurries off into his classroom.
They watch him through the large glass window as he says hello to Gyaku, Kotora, and Hana, the only three in his class. The other three are in a different class. The classes all merge together for after school once most of the other students are picked up, usually leaving about 30 preschoolers.
"Your brother is sweet."
"I raised him to be," Kivi replies, watching the small smile upon his face. "You should smile more, Shoto. It's a good look on you." He doesn't get to respond as she grabs his arm and races out. "Alright, we need to hurry. We're already late to class."
Hero course training for that Tuesday was rough. For everyone. It went insanely terrible. It was so bad that Aizawa actually chuckled.
~~~
Standing tall, towering over the skyscrapers of Tokyo are tons of giant monsters. Darkness covers all of Tokyo. Down below in the city is destruction everywhere you look. Fires, collapsed buildings, dead bodies of heroes, villains, and civilians alike, screaming people, and heroes trying to take the monsters down and protecting civilains are everywhere. Far above the screaming crowd at the center of the chaos floats an evil purple female who wickedly laughs at the pandemonium beneath her. This nightmare woman goes by the name Lunox. Lunox cackles loudly, smacking down anyone that somehow manages to get near her. Lunox takes notice to a cowering form near herself and moves over to her. Kivi is crouched down into a ball, shaking and knowing nothing she does will help save the day.
Lunox lands gracefully in front of her with a laugh. "Look at what power we have! Look at how powerful we are! Nobody can stop the rampage!"
"I-I don't want this! I'm supposed to be a hero!" Kivi shouts as tears roll down her cheeks.
"There's nothing you can do about this! I'm gonna be there sooooon... I'm gonna ruin you!" She cackles and lifts her hand, aiming at Kivi. "As soon as this part of you dies!"
Kivi wakes up in a sweat, panting heavily as she moves to lean herself against the backboard of the bed. She pulls her legs to her chest and tries to calm herself down. "I-It... w-was just a n-n-nightmare... I-It wasn't real..." she whispers to herself. "Y-You're o-okay..."
Shoto stirs beside her, feeling the shift and hearing the light and quick pants of his bed mate of this week. He turns in her direction to check on her. Concern flashes across his features for a second as he sits up. "Kivi-san?"
She takes in a shuttered breath. "I-I'm fine, Shoto... J-just g-go back to sleep. I'm sorry for w-waking you..."
He shuffles closer to her to peer into her eyes as much as he can with her hiding. "You're crying."
She sniffles. "I'm fine. G-Go back to sleep."
"Why are you crying?"
"N-No reason."
He studies her shaking form, recognizing it. "Did you... have a nightmare?"
"I don't want t-to talk about it. Just leave it."
"Okay." Shoto studies her for a bit more, deciding he should definitely learn to speak French and what he should currently do. He moves to cradle her and pulls her into a hug. That's what she did for Eri, so maybe it will calm her down.
She lightly shoves him away. "W-What are you d-doing? S-Stop..."
"No." He doesn't let her out of his grasp and holds tight as she struggles.
"Shoto! L-Let me go! You! Ugh! You're so damn a-annoying! Why are you doing this?! Let go of me!"
"No."
She sniffles. "You aren't s-supposed to know about this side of me! I was doing so well... I-I can handle myself! I always do..."
Shoto holds onto her a little tighter as she finally calms down and admits defeat.
She slumps against his chest, harshly wiping away her tears.
"It's okay to show emotions other than anger you know."
"Like you s-should be talking. You never show emotions," Kivi scoffs with a sigh actually enjoying this though she won't admit that to anyone.
Shoto moves himself along with Kivi to lie back down on the bed. He keeps his arms around her as she lies on his chest. "I'll try to be more visual with my emotions."
Kivi lets out a quiet snort as she closes her eyes. "Thank you, Shoto." She nestles into his warmth as he brushes his hand through her hair.
They both fall asleep in peace after that.
...
Wednesday.
Shoto is awake a little before Kivi's alarm goes off. He looks down at the bluenette curled up on his chest, resting peacefully. A small smile tugs at his lips, thinking she looked cute while she was sleeping much like a cute animal. It's a nice change from her usual annoyed look. He begins to run his fingers through her soft hair, brushing out the tangles.
A few minutes later, her alarm goes off, ruining the peaceful moment.
She stirs awake. She gives a content exhale as she opens her eyes. She quickly sits up after gaining her bearings. "Forget last night, okay? Don't tell anyone."
Shoto sighs, a little annoyed he can't run his fingers through her soft hair anymore. "Didn't plan to."
"Good."
"But I'm not going to just forget about it."
She turns to look at him in annoyance. "And why not?"
"Because I have them too," he responds.
Kivi doesn't respond but gets up. "I gotta pee."
~~~
The day has gone by quickly and it's night again. The two get Eri and Aki in bed. Shoto begins to walk in the direction to Kivi's bedroom.
"Not yet, Shoto," Kivi says, grabbing his elbow. "Hades and Lucifer want to go walk. I haven't been able to take them out for a while."
"Okay."
Kivi and Shoto head downstairs to collect the panthers and head down the elevator. Kivi takes their normal route. They make it to the small open park area with no Hitoshi in sight. She doesn't show it but that kinda makes Kivi a little disheartened. They move to sit on the bench while the panthers explore. It's silent until Kivi gets curious.
"Hey, why did you not use your fire quirk during the festival?" Kivi asks.
"Cause I don't like my father."
He explains his whole story to her.
"I'm sorry Shoto, but even if it was because your father made your mother go crazy, it doesn't mean she should've hurt you because you look like him. A mother should never hurt their child like that. She doesn't have the right. She should've taken her anger out on the right person. If I were in your place I wouldn't forgive her. I wouldn't forgive either of your parents."
"It's fine if you don't understand."
"That's the problem though, Shoto. I do. My parents are both exactly like your father. They're even worse." She explains all the horrid things they've made her go through. "Of course, you can't tell any of this stuff happened because my quirk heals me."
They continued to talk everything out until they actually came around to really understand each other. Kivi now has two people that truly know how terrible her past really was. Hitoshi and Shoto.
~~~
Kivi's awoken when she feels Shoto's energy full of panic. She looks up from her position on his chest, hearing and feeling him panting heavily. She moves off him, and he immediately curls into a ball.
He's writhing and whimpering in his sleep. Whispers of 'no', 'stop', and 'don't' are exclaimed here and there.
She moves him to curl on herself and runs a hand through his hair. "Shoto... Shoto..." She begins to release calming energy like she did with Eri a few nights ago. "We are some messed up kids... Come on, Shoto, wakey wakey."
Hades and Lucifer readjust themselves to curl around them more.
It takes a few minutes, but Shoto does eventually wake.
He curiously looks up at Kivi. "Kivi?"
"You were having a nightmare." Her smile turns into a smirk. "I guess we're even now."
He sighs, leaning back onto her chest. "I guess so. ...Thank you, Kivi."
"Just returning the favor."
...
It's Thursday which means another day with hero lessons.
There are two hero training classes on the days they have hero lessons. Those days are only Tuesdays and Thursdays. It was during fourth and fifth period with lunch in between as break. Each class was 50 minutes long for a total of 100 minutes of hero training and 50 minutes between for lunch. The first 20 minutes would be to warm up.
During those 20 minutes Kivi would practice her flying. She's a little wobbly, but she's getting there.
Then after would be 10 minutes of Aizawa explaining what they're doing for today and heading off to wherever they needed to go.
Then the remaining 70 minutes would be split into 7 groups of three with 10 minutes for each group to run through the exercise they were required to do. Again Kivi would practice flying when it wasn't her turn.
This week is different. They split in half. Hero team is composed of Shoto, Kivi, Mineta, Ochaco, Kaminari, Tsu, Jiro, Kirishima, Ojiro, sugar rush, and invisible girl. The villain team is Yuga, Mezo, Tokoyami, Sero, Iida, Momo, Koda, Mina, Izuku, and Bakugo.
The villain team is hidden throughout one of the fake cities and the heroes have to take them down. Bakugo and Izuku decide to cause havoc through the city, more Bakugo than Izuku though. The two surprisingly move well together. Each knowing each other enough to fluidly move. Iida and Momo also pair well as she creates a pair of skates and holds onto Iida as he runs them around. Everyone of the other villains have more trouble.
Kivi finally learns the names of all her classmates, having to work with Toru and Sato this time around. Kirishima and Ojiro moved well together. The most impressive was Kivi and Shoto. After their little bonding over nightmares, they've come to understand and easily move together. They, along with Mineta, were the aces of this exercise this time around. The three quickly wrapped up the villains and won the exercise.
"Whoa! Todoroki and Kivi-san were so cool!" Izuku cheers. "You moved so well together!"
"Agreed, it was like watching an intricate dance!" Yuga speaks out with a twirl.
"You two must've really connected these past two days!" Ochaco shouts.
"We've come to know each other," Shoto nods, glancing at Kivi.
Mineta gasps. "You two totally did it! You two totally fucked!"
Kivi surrounds him in a shield and flicks him across the fake city.
"Whoa! Is he right?!" Mina gasps, not hearing a 'no.'
Kivi turns to glare at her. "Don't make me flick you too. No, we didn't and won't. You are like the most annoying classmates in the world."
"Whoa, do you think Todoroki is who you end up marrying?" Toru asks, recalling their tale to the future.
"It's a wonder I marry anyone in this school," Kivi scoffs, turning and heading to change back into her school uniform.
Mina and Toru smirk at each other, though you couldn't see Toru's. "She didn't deny it!~"
"Man, Kivi's hot but like I pray for whoever her husband ends up being," Kaminari voices as they all watch her stalk off with Shoto tagging along behind her.
"Actually, future Kivi is really happy, mellow, and nice," Sero comments. "It was almost like she was a totally different person."
"Seriously?" Kaminari asks. "That's hard to imagine."
"Yeah, it surprised me a lot."
"That must mean whoever ends up with her changes her for the better!" Mina squeals. "That's so cute!"
"Shut up!" Bakugo huffs. "All this talk about the stupid blueberry is annoying! Don't you all have something better to do then involve yourself with her dumb love life?!"
"Sounds like someone's jealous," Mina taunts.
Izuku eeps. "I wouldn't–"
"As if," Bakugo scoffs with an eye roll and heads off to the boys locker room with a scared Izuku.
"Do you think he likes Kivi-san?" Mina asks.
"Either that or he's just being normal Bakugo," Kirishima says.
"Mean and rude as usual," Tokoyami voices.
"I see them as more like siblings," Ojiro says. "Siblings that always get on each other's nerves but still love each other at the end of the day."
"Siblings that tolerate each other," Tokoyami says.
Koda nods along with that.
"Yeah, I can see that," Sato agrees.
Mineta makes a reappearance, breathing heavily.
"You have any secrets that you know about them, Kirishima?" Toru asks.
"Why me?"
"You are best friends, aren't you?"
"Well, I guess we are best bros, but Kivi took the title of his best friend," Kirishima says. "Wait, there was one time when I saw her leaving his room in the morning."
"What?!" Mina, Toru, Kaminari, and Mineta shout.
"Yeah, it was during the days Bakugo and Midoriya got in trouble and had to clean the dorms."
"Bro! Why didn't you leak this information sooner?!" Kaminari shouts.
"Oh, and he was most definitely in Kivi's place last Monday when they both came in late."
"Secretly dating..." Mina whispers in thought.
"Think about it though, if the two were dating, Bakugo would likely be much more grumpy than usual cause Todoroki is paired with her. Being the tsundere that he is, he'd be annoyed that Todoroki gets to sleep with her," Sero says, speaking common sense.
"I can see that too," Sato says, nodding.
"Oi, get back into your school uniforms and stop gossiping," Aizawa growls.
Everyone immediately races to the locker rooms.
Aizawa sighs, he's not payed enough for teenage drama. He'll never admit that he saw Bakugo and Kivi on the couch. He may of given Kivi the okay to sleep in but not Bakugo. It's entertaining to discipline students for being late even if he could've prevented it. Somebody needs to clean the dorms, and he definitely isn't doing it. Of course... the school has a professional cleaning service while they're in school, but he won't tell them that. Can Aizawa see the two being a couple? No, he doesn't. Nor does he want them to. It's already enough having to watch two angry teens, but if they're together? That would be a whole mess, one that he'd rather not have to listen to the arguments and deal with ever.
...
After school on Friday's Shoto and Bakugo had to go to their remedial classes for their provisional licenses. Which meant that Kivi and Izuku had to go with them. They complained to Aizawa about it and he decided to chain Bakugo and Shoto together for their classes and made Izuku and Kivi pair together until they return.
"We need to go get Aki," Kivi says. "Let's go."
They head straight to the preschool from UA.
"I've never been with you to get Akiba," Izuku smiles. "I feel like everyone has already."
"It's only been Kaminari, Shoto, Ochaco, and you."
"Oh, then I guess it's the opposite. One of the chosen few.~"
Kivi rolls her eyes. "Sure, if you want to put it that way. Though the only reason, besides Ochako, is because they had to come from whatever complicated thing that's currently happening."
"Oh, I guess that is true."
They arrive at the preschool and the woman up front smiles at the two.
"Oh, now you've brought a different boy," she says.
"Traded partners," Kivi says, lifting her wrist with the bracelet attached.
"Oh? I liked the other boy. What happened?"
"Nothing, he just has somewhere to go this afternoon that I couldn't go to. Same with his partner, so we just switched," Kivi explains.
"Ah, that makes sense. Aki is in his classroom. It's too cold to stay outside for too long."
Kivi nods and heads back to get her brother. Inside the classroom is dark as they're all watching a movie. The teacher notices them and quietly calls out to Akiba.
Akiba glances at her then takes notice to Kivi and his face brightens up. He rushes to grab his book bag then straight to Kivi. "Izuku senpai, what are you doing here? Where's Sho senpai?"
"Bakugo and Shoto had to trade out with us for each other for a few hours. He'll be back with us tonight."
"Okay!"
They leave the room.
"You do anything special today?"
"We made paper lanterns!"
"That sounds like fun."
Akiba grins and looks to Izuku. "Can you carry me on your shoulders?"
"Uh, yeah, sure," Izuku says, lifting him up over his head onto his shoulders.
"Wee!"
Izuku chuckles as he holds onto Aki by his legs. "Kivi-san, I like seeing this side of you."
She tilts her head. "This side of me?"
"The happy and not about to kill everyone side."
A tick mark is shown on her head. "What was that?"
Izuku gulps. "I-I mean y-you just l-l-look really happy a-around Akichan."
"Of course I am. He is the brightest thing in my life. My sunshine in the darkness," Kivi sighs. "If it weren't for Akiba, who knows where I would be right now..."
Izuku gives her a questioning look. "What do you mean by that Kivi-san?"
"I'm saying, I'd probably be a villain or something..."
"What?! Really?! He changed you that much?!"
Kivi chuckles, smiling at her brother who's entertaining himself by counting all the birds sitting on a telephone line nearby. "Yes."
It's silent between them after that with Aki talking here and there.
~~~
8pm rolled around, and Shoto and Bakugo still are at remedial classes. The phone call with her parents was one she would rather have alone. Izuku was slightly worried after the shouting match Kivi had with them on the phone was over. Kivi glared at him harshly, insinuating for him to not talk or ever talk about it.
~~~
Shoto and Kivi are once again combined together. The two put the two children to bed before getting in their own.
Shoto winces as Kivi curls onto his chest as they've done every night after Kivi's nightmare night.
She sits up and gives him an annoyed look. "Why didn't you tell me earlier that you were injured?"
"Gang Orca threw me around a lot today. I just didn't think about it," he says.
She lifts his shirt up to see the damage. "Shoto! Your whole torso is bruised." She places her hands on his chest.
He grabs her wrists. "What are you doing?"
"Getting rid of them," Kivi says. "I'm gonna heal you. Stay still."
He releases his hold and lets her heal him. He breathes in relief as he feels the pain disappear. "Thank you."
She grabs his wrist and tugs him to the elevator. "If you were that bruised I know Katsuki has to be just as bad." They travel to Bakugo's floor and march up to his door. Kivi kicks it open.
Izuku releases a frightened scream. "K-Kivi-san! T-Todoroki!"
"Katsuki," Kivi growls.
"What the fuck?! Why'd you just bust my fucking door down?!" Katsuki shouts.
Kivi stomps up to Bakugo and shoves him back by his chest. They all watch as he recoils into himself. "And why the fuck did you not tell me you were hurt?!" She climbs on top of him, straddling him and lifting his shirt up to find bruising just as bad as Shoto's.
"What the fuck? Get off of me you damn blueberry! Why you trying to fucking strip me!?"
"Shut the fuck up!" Kivi shouts, placing her hands gently on his torso and heals his bruises. She flicks his forehead. "Next time you're this... fucking injured you better... fucking tell me." She yawns. "Shoto."
He perks up. "Yes?"
"Carry me, I'm too... tired to walk back to my room," Kivi says, falling into his arms.
He scoops her up like a princess and the two leave the room.
Izuku looks at Bakugo. "You were injured, Kacchan?"
"Shut up nerd and go to sleep," Bakugo huffs and flops back onto the bed. "And stay on your side of the bed tonight! I don't want your heavy ass self curled all on top of me when I wake up!"
...
Saturday passed uneventfully and Sunday everyone slept in.
Shoto wakes before Kivi and begins to brush his hand through her hair, watching her peacefully sleep as he usually does when he wakes up first.
Shoto typically visits his mother on Sundays then his sister. He guesses that will be changed for today.
After about an hour, Kivi wakes up and brings her phone to herself with her quirk to look at the time. 12 noon. She lets out a yawn and looks up at Shoto. "Sleep well?"
"I did."
"You been up long?" she sleepily asks, curling back in his chest content with the brushing of her hair.
"About an hour, I guess."
"I don't have anything I need to do today, but I know you typically go visit your mom. We can do that after having a bath."
"It'd probably be best to not go see her."
"Why's that? Scared I'm gonna hurt her?"
"Possibly."
"Rude." She sits up. "Well, we're going anyway. Akiba and Eri can stay with Izu and Katsuki."
~~~
After a bath and encouraging Bakugo to watch the kids, Shoto and Kivi are off to the hospital housing his mother.
They head up to the counter, get visitors passes, and head up to her room.
"Please don't do anything bad."
"No promises," Kivi says, pushing open the door to the room. "Hello, Shoto's mom!"
The white haired woman turns to them with expressionless surprise. "Hello?"
"Now I see where you get your personality from, Shoto," Kivi says, pulling a chair up to his mother.
His mother tilts her head at Shoto. "Is this the girl you told me about?"
Shoto nods. "This is Kivi-san."
"We're stuck together for a project, if he didn't tell you. We can't stay 7 feet away from each other," Kivi says. "We've gotten close and have a good understanding of one another now."
"I'm glad," Rei says. "Shoto isn't the best at socializing, so I'm glad that you're his friend."
Kivi doesn't respond and stares at her, feeling another emotion she's never felt before.
"Mom..."
Rei lightly chuckles. "I could always tell her embarrassing stories."
"From my point of view that's probably little, you've been here for most his life," Kivi bluntly says.
Rei doesn't give a big reaction but does look a little hurt. Shoto gives Kivi a slight annoyed look. It's silent between the three of them for a few minutes.
"Ki–"
"I can see you're trying to better yourself and take back what you did to Shoto," Kivi sighs. "You're sincere. Doesn't mean I'll forgive you for what you did to Shoto though." She pauses before once again sighing. "I can let you both start over though. If you would like to?"
Rei turns to look at her.
Shoto tilts his head a bit. "What do you mean?"
Kivi looks to Shoto and cups the left side of his face, brushing her thumb over his scar. "I can't get rid of it, but I can make it less noticeable. It'll give the two of you a better chance to start over."
"You can... heal my scar?"
"It'll still be there but more the color of your skin but slightly lighter," Kivi explains.
Rei looks at Shoto with some hope. "It would make me feel a bit better..."
"Obviously," Kivi rolls her eyes. "That's why I'm offering."
Shoto nods thoughtfully. "Okay."
"Okay? Does that mean you want to?" Kivi asks.
"I'll let you," Shoto nods.
Kivi glances from Rei to Shoto before moving closer to the youngest Todoroki. "It won't hurt."
"I know. You've done this for me before."
"Well, it's an older wound, so it's going to tingle a bit," Kivi says, placing a hand on his scar. Her hand glows a faint blue and begins to heal his scar. "There finished. It's not completely gone but looks better."
Rei begins to cry and moves to Shoto, engulfing him in a tight hug.
Kivi moves away and plays on her phone as they have their moment.
A few minutes pass before Rei moves to Kivi. "Thank you."
"I'm still not happy you took your anger and pain out on your son, but you're welcome," Kivi replies.
"I know..." Rei murmurs. "I was stupid."
"Understatement," Kivi scoffs, crossing her arms and lightly glaring at the older woman.
She sighs sadly. "I only hope you both can forgive me."
"I will never forgive you for being a dumbass and horrible mother, but it's not like you have to get my forgiveness. We're not related or close, so I don't much care," Kivi shrugs. "I know a mother should never do that to a child. I also know that you should take your anger out on the right people which you most clearly did not." She sighs. "My parents have done all sorts of horrible things to me, but at least you feel sorry for doing it. That's more than I can say my parents do."
"Shoto mentioned you two had similar lives. I'm sorry your parents treat you so horribly," Rei says, mentally agreeing with her words.
"Yeah, well, it happens," Kivi sighs. "I'm not letting it hold me back or take me down."
The three continue with a more pleasant chat till 4 o'clock before the teens leave and head off to the Todoroki estate.
"Before we head to your place, Shoto, let's get a little food in us. We haven't eaten anything yet today," Kivi says.
Shoto takes her to his favorite soba restaurant as Kivi's never had soba before. After a quick bowl, they depart around 5:30.
They arrive at the estate, and his sister is immediate in greeting them. She gasps in shock as she sees Shoto.
"Shoto! What happened to your scar! It's almost gone!" she shouts.
"My... friend healed it for me," Shoto says, gesturing to Kivi.
Her gaze turns to the girl. "Ah! Sorry for being so rude! I'm Fuyumi, Shoto's older sister," she introduces, slightly bowing. "Thank you for what you've done for Shoto. That was quite a surprise."
The teens enter the house and they all head to a dining room area.
"Kivi, pleasure."
"Is father home?" Shoto asks.
"He said he would likely be home late. He doesn't know if his meetings will be over quickly or not," Fuyumi answers.
"Good, we can stay for dinner then," Shoto says, looking to Kivi.
"I'm fine with that," Kivi responds with a shrug.
"I'll go get dinner started then," Fuyumi says and heads into the kitchen.
"Don't you have maids to do that for you?" Kivi asks Shoto.
"We only have maids to clean."
"Okaaay... I'll message Bakugo to feed and bathe Aki for bed," she says, doing just that. She messages Ochaco to tell Tsu and Jiro to help with Eri. Bakugo almost immediately replies with a long string of curses, making Kivi snicker. "What should we do in the meantime?"
"Nap."
"Nap? We've literally been awake for almost 6 hours. You want to take a 30 minute nap?"
"Hour nap," he responds, yawning.
"Dammit don't ya–" she yawns. "...yawn you're going to make me yawn... See?"
He lets out a quiet snort. He heads into another room that has a couch. "Nap."
"What are you two... again?" Kivi sighs. "I don't wanna nap. You can. I'll just play on my phone while you rest." She sits on one end of the couch and Shoto moves and places his head in her lap.
"Tired."
Kivi glares at him but let's him stay as she knows he trained a lot yesterday. Guess she also sorta deserves it, she did the same thing to him when they barely even knew each other. He closes his eyes and she begins to thread her fingers through his soft hair. He quickly falls asleep as she continues to move her fingers through his hair with one hand and the other playing on her phone.
A little over half an hour of peace goes by until it's interrupted by a certain aura, Kivi has become familiar with, coming home. Endeavor's home.
Said man comes stomping into the house, heading by the room the teens are in only to stop and back track. He takes in the scene of his sleeping son in Kivi's lap as her fingers go through his hair. His eyes narrow into a glare. "You."
"You," Kivi responds listlessly, continuing to pay attention to her phone and not the pro hero.
"What are you doing here, future girl?"
"Shoto and I are stuck together for a project. We can't be more than 7 feet from each other," Kivi replies.
"Ah, I remember that from my year at UA," Endeavor says, lightening up and looking to his son. "He seems... different around you."
"He trusts me," Kivi says, finally looking at the man. "Unlike you."
He glares. "According to what I know about you, he shouldn't trust you either. I shouldn't let him be near you or let you be enrolled at UA. You're a danger to everyone around you," he retorts. "You have too much power that you can't control."
Her eye twitches. "As long as no one really pisses me off, everyone will be perfectly safe. Why are you here anyway? Fuyumi said you wouldn't be back till late."
"Meetings finished early." He squints at his son. "What happened to his scar?"
"I healed it like I did for you," Kivi answers.
"Thank you, I'm sure Rei appreciated that."
"Ooh, two thank yous from the number 1 hardass hero? That's gotta be a record."
His eye twitches.
Fuyumi decides to make that her entrance. "Shoto, Kivi, dinner is read—Father! You're home early!"
"Meetings went through fast," he answers.
"Well, there should be enough food for all of us. I made extra."
Shoto stirs.
"Hey, peppermint, it's time to get up," Kivi says, lightly nudging Shoto. "Dinner."
He yawns and blinks a few times, frowning when he sees his father. He quickly sits up. "Father."
"Shoto, I'm..." He glances at Kivi. "...glad to see you're making friends."
"You just care that she has a strong quirk," Shoto scoffs.
"Her quirk is too strong, but she herself is not strong enough to control it. I would rather you two not be close," Enji says. "But... I'm not going to stop you. It's your decision with who you make friends."
Shoto blinks at his father in surprise and is silent for a few seconds as he stares at him. "Don't call my friend weak when she's stronger than you."
Fuyumi claps before it escalates any further. "Who's hungry? Let's go eat."
Kivi nods and follows behind Fuyumi with the last person being Enji.
Shoto tugs on Kivi's sleeve. "Did you call me peppermint?"
She only laughs in reply.
They all sit down and have an awkward dinner together.
~~~
"Thank fuck!" Bakugo shouts, seeing Shoto and Kivi exit the elevator into Kivi's dorm.
Kivi and Shoto pause at the scene in front of them.
"Nee-san! Look what I did!" Eri calls out.
"I-I see..." Kivi replies, holding back her laugh. "Looks good, Erichan."
"Not one fucking word," Bakugo growls.
"You make a pretty princess, Bakugo," Shoto comments.
Kivi bursts out laughing.
"I'll kill you both!" Bakugo shouts, but remains in place.
Beside him Aki and Izuku are in the same state. Aki smiling and happy, Izuku completely flustered.
Shoto whips his phone out and takes pictures.
"Send them to me," Kivi whispers, nudging him.
"I'm posting these on Instagram," he whispers back.
"I heard that, icyhot! I'll kick your ass if you do!"
"And posted."
Small explosions begin to pop off Bakugo's palms, scaring any cat nearby away. "I'm gonna kill you!"
Aki and Eri begin to giggle as Bakugo jumps up and rushes towards Shoto only to be snapped back by the rope appearing. He lands roughly on his butt, turning and glaring toward Izuku who gulps. Izuku didn't even budge, seems his training is paying off.
"Did you all eat?" Kivi asks.
"Yeah, we even fed your big cats," Izuku says. "Aki taught us how to do it."
"Good job, Aki," Kivi says, ruffling his hair.
"Well good, we can leave now," Bakugo huffs. "Let's go, nerd. It's passed my bedtime."
"Who's the nerd now?" Kivi grins.
"Shut up," he scoffs.
Izuku and Bakugo head off.
Kivi claps. "Alright, bedtime. Shoo, shoo."
The two children rush up to their rooms. After Shoto and Kivi tuck them in then get themselves in sleepwear, they curl into Kivi's bed. They both lay on their backs, staring at the ceiling in the darkness.
"Last night."
"Yep," Kivi sighs. "And to think I started to enjoy your stay."
He turns his body to her with a teasing smirk. "Gonna miss me?"
"If I miss ya too much, I'll come bust your door down," Kivi retorts. "Then drag you by your peppermint hair back here."
He chuckles and shifts back to his original position. "What did my dad mean when he said you aren't strong enough to control your power? You seem to have good control of it to me."
Kivi sighs, taking in a shuttered breath. "That's... a conversation for another time. I... don't like to talk about it."
"Does it have to deal with how Kaminari continued to lose himself when you swapped bodies?"
"Shoto, you're one of the few people I like so don't ruin it. I said I don't wanna talk about it."
"Sorry."
She sighs, curling up to his warm side. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight and thank you."
"You're welcome."
