Promise
"What?!" Elizabeta exclaimed loudly into the phone. People stared as she walked down the street. She mumbled a sorry and continued on her way.
"I'm telling you Lizzy! It's true!" Gilbert said, nodding profusely from the other end.
"I can't believe it...." She mumbled. "I guess I'll see you soon."
Gilbert grinned at the fact that he would see her again. Gilbert definitely had a crush on the Hungarian but he didn't think he would ever find the balls to admit it. "Ja. You should call _____."
Eliza nodded. "I will. See you soon Gil." She hung up, still dumbfounded at the fact that Alfred had woken up. She walked down the street, looking for the café that they were supposed to meet at. She hated to admit it, but she had missed Gilbert. She missed his attitude and his smirk. It had only been a few months but she had found herself reaching out to the 'Prussian'.
Eliza reached the café and smiled warmly when she saw Gilbert on the inside waving. The albino had a large smile on his face. "Lizzy!" He wrapped his arms around her. "I missed you Frau!"
She nodded and hugged him back tightly. "I missed you too Gil."
The two had a simple lunch and chatted away about what they had been doing and any new friends they met. Then they talked about you and Alfred and about how they couldn't wait to see you in a few days.
...
Arthur had organized the entire thing. You would all meet in the Vargas' restaurant and decide what to do after that. You missed everyone so much and couldn't wait to see them. "What are you smiling at your phone for? Texting your boyfriend?" Alfred smirked, teasing you.
You rolled your eyes. "You're my boyfriend, dingus. And I'm talking to Arthur."
Alfred smiled and kissed your forehead. "Oh. What's he saying?"
"We're all going to see the others in a few days. Sort of like a reunion." You explained briefly, shutting off your phone as leaning your head on his shoulder. "Mm.. I love you."
"I love you more." Alfred slightly argued.
You raised a brow. "Doubt that. Do you know how long I waited?" You looked up at him, a sad look in your (e/c) eyes.
"_____... I.." He couldn't find words to say. Sure, Alfred knew everything about you and he knew how long you did wait, but it still made him sad. "Don't think about that. It's all over and I'll never leave you again. No matter what."
You felt tears prick your eyes. "Promise me?"
He nodded and held out his pinky. "Promise." You wrapped your smaller finger around his pinky. Alfred brought your hand up to his lips and placed a soft kiss on the top of your hand.
You both stayed together. You rested your head on his shoulder and he stroked your hair. All was perfect and quiet and you would have it no other way until you felt Alfred jolt. "Are you okay?" You asked, squeezing his hand.
He smiled down at you and grinned. "Yeah, just a little nervous."
"Why?"
Alfred didn't answer, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black box. "Here. I got this for you." Alfred handed you the box. You opened it up and noticed a small gold ring in the shape of a tied knot. It was nothing fancy or expensive but it was perfect. "I... It's a promise ring. _____, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I understand that you want to be a/an (profession) and that you're studying along with me so I don't want to ask just yet." He grabbed both your hands and stared into your eyes. "_____, I want to marry you. And someday I will. We've been through so much together."
You smiled and nodded. "Yes. When that day comes, my answers is yes." You stared down at the shiny gold ring in the box and slipped it on to your finger. You noticed a small piece of paper with phrase on it.
A "knot" ring. The ring represents a knot that is not quite tied yet, but has every intention of being tied. A promise ring.
You admired the simple ring happily and wrapped your arms around his neck. "Thank you Alfie. I love it."
"Really? It's not too simple right?" He asked in a joking tone.
You shook your head. "No, it's perfect. I love it so much."
He kissed you on the lips briefly, smiling through the kiss. "Hey _____?"
"Yeah?"
"What do you want to do for Halloween?" He asked, tilting his head to the side, glasses sliding down his nose slightly.
You shrugged. "I dunno. What do you wanna do?"
He fumbled with his hands in his lap awkwardly. "Well... I wanted to do a couple thing. Ya know?"
You rolled your (e/c) eyes and laughed. "Yeah. What did you have in mind? Please don't say ketchup and mustard..."
"What? No! I was thinking like Superman and Lois Lane of Captain America and Agent Carter?" Alfred asked hopefully, batting his long eyelashes.
"Hmm... Sure, but I'm not damsel in distress." You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest. "Got that?"
Alfred nodded and laughed as he ruffled your hair. "Got it babe."
"Don't call me babe."
