What If......Author god Willotas Kybete/"Will" was found as a teenager by Maleventernatus the source of evil and became a Dark god under Maleventernatus's tuleage as his apprentice?
In a time of vast desert, where the sun beat relentlessly down upon a parched expanse, a weary figure stumbled through the sand. Willotas Kybete, a teenage god with aspirations of creativity and stories yet untold, found himself lost; within both the landscape and his thoughts. He had crumbled under the weight of despair after losing Echo, his beloved—a soul tethered to his own by love and dreams. The harsh reality of the Void King and his merciless grip had taken everything from him.
As he collapsed under the oppressive sun, darkness swept across the horizon, as if the shadows themselves had coalesced into a figure that approached him with alarming speed. The being had an elegance that was captivating yet grotesque—a juxtaposition of beauty and terror. The figure scooped Will from the sand with a gentle yet firm grasp.
"Oh my, poor boy," it murmured, infusing the words with an eerie sense of mock empathy. Its presence loomed over Will as he struggled against the weakness of his own body. "What has happened to you?"
"E-Echo..." he whispered, as darkness began to wrap around his consciousness like a warm blanket, lulling him toward the void.
The being wrinkled its nose, "God, you smell like roast mold with squid ink!" It recoiled, clearly disdainful of the state Will was in. "Boy! He needs a bath first, food later!"
Before Will could protest, he was dragged to a bathhouse hidden within mirages of the desert. Like a wild animal, he was tossed into a pool. The shock of icy water jolted him awake, and he gasped, spluttering as he floundered to the surface.
"What the—?" Will's disbelief transformed into panic. He glanced around, unsure of where he was, only to find his attire—a swimsuit. Confusion fell over him like a heavy curtain.
"You're awake, I see," declared the figure, now clearer to him.
That was when Will truly took notice of his savior—or captor. Before him stood Maleventernatus, the source of darkness itself, a representation of evil and power. Its features were hauntingly beautiful yet disturbingly disfigured, spilling a darkness that merged with the very air around them.
"I am Maleventernatus, and you, dear boy, have caught my interest." The creature stepped forward, shadows writhed around it as though they were conveyed by an unseen force.
"What do you want from me?" Will croaked; a knot of fear tightened in his chest. Echo's voice echoed in his mind, urging him to flee. Yet, his body refused to cooperate, languishing in exhaustion and denial.
"Your potential is remarkable, Will," Maleventernatus declared, its voice dripping with honeyed persuasion. "You are a blank slate, and I can inscribe upon you power beyond mortal comprehension. Together, we could reshape existence."
"Join you?" Will echoed, incredulity roiling within him. A candle flickered in the depths of his heart—was there a sliver of yearning hidden beneath his anger? "You want me to become a monster?"
With a chuckle that resonated from the abyss, Maleventernatus shook its head. "I can give you what you desire most... Vengeance."
Will's heart twisted; memory collided with the present. The fury king—the Void King—had taken Echo from him. Images flooded into Will's mind, memories of laughter, smiles, and warmth washed away by the cold reality of what had been lost. He recalled that fateful day, the moment Echo had sacrificed herself.
"Will! Please! The portal will drag you with it... just let go!" the echoes of her desperate voice echoed.
"I DON'T CARE! I can't lose you!" The agony of his love washed over him.
The moment pressed in slow motion as he watched Echo's hand slip away from his grasp and fade into the swirling chaos. Her last words, "I... Love... You," replayed like poetry upon a requiem of despair.
Torn by the tidal pull of anguish, Will understood that despair had unlocked something within him. Unleashed power surged, flickering like lightning across the barren land. And as the portal closed, dark remnants of his grief became a part of him.
In the haze of recollection, Will met Maleventernatus's eyes—dark pools with an unholy gleam. "I don't want vengeance," he murmured, defeated. "I just want Echo back."
"Ah, dear boy," the dark god cooed, leaning down to pat his head with an unsettling affection. "I can help with that."
"What do you mean?" Will's heart beat rapidly. Could Maleventernatus truly bring her back?
"All you need do is join me. Embrace your potential. Together, we'll reclaim your lost love," the dark figure promised, the shadows deepening around them like a living cloak.
With desperation tugging at his soul, an ember of hope blossomed in Will's heart. "What must I do?" Will asked, his voice trembling.
"Swear allegiance to me. Become my apprentice and embrace the darkness. I will guide you in becoming the master of your own destiny."
Will hesitated, the weight of his choices heavy upon him. But visions of a life with Echo suffocated by the overwhelming reality of eternity without her encumbered his thoughts.
"I accept," Will finally uttered, voice steady with grim determination. "I shall join you... my Master."
Years passed like whispers in the wind, shadows deepening with each heartbeat. The name "Tomerarenai Kyōfu" resounded throughout the Omniverse—a dark god feared by many, an unstoppable terror. Tales of his monstrous ferocity echoed across realms. Yet buried beneath the layers of his might and the twisted power he wielded lay a singular, unyielding desire: to reclaim Echo.
His heart still echoed with the memory of her last words, a gentle, haunting reminder that could ignite the fire of his vengeance. He dispatched enemies with ruthless ease, the darkness becoming a second skin as he forged ahead, scattering the ashes of treachery in his wake.
But in the quiet moments, a thought lurked in the shadows of his mind—could vengeance truly bring back Echo? Would conquering worlds and extinguishing lives fill the void her absence had carved into him? With every soul extinguished, a part of him grew heavier, an ache becoming more profound, transcending his omnipotent power.
As Will—the Dark God—stood atop a mountain of crushed enemies, he gazed into the abyss, searching for the light that once filled his life. If reclaiming Echo meant becoming the very thing he despised, was it worth the price he'd already paid?
Caught in the swirling chaos of his triumphs and regrets, he prepared to unleash his wrath upon the Void King and the fury King as One question persisted, like a haunting refrain in the dark corners of his mind: Would he find her again, or would he forever remain lost in the shadows of his own making?
Only time would tell. Yet, in that moment of uncertainty, beneath the layers of fury and power, the whisper of a boy—once full of dreams and hope—pleaded for a different fate.
"Echo," he murmured, a single tear marking the desolation of his heart. "I don't know if I can do this. But I will try... for you."
