☠️Chapter one: Resent the curse.☠️
Trista Lillith:
(Strongly advise to quickly look at the aesthetic above)
"I love you." The scruffy ragged man beamed as he stared at my lifeless eyes, getting dragged right into them. I looked down at his fairly large hands as he scooped my tiny dirty ones into his. I shifted from one foot to another as I desperately looked around for a way to change the topic but my face was gently directed back to his chocolate dark brown eyes.
For a moment I thought it would be a staring contest as it did seem I was getting lost into his eyes rather than trying to wriggle my way out of this situation yet again. "Trista?" A low gruff voice snapped me out of my wondering thoughts as I glared at him in the eye. "You know what my answer will always be." I snapped right back at him, pulling my hands away from him a little too violently.
I started fast walking away from him but as always he tried keeping up by skipping along behind me. "Go away!" I hissed at his annoying usual behaviour but that wasn't enough to stop him as he followed each footstep this time whistling. "Wait!" He yelled from behind as now I was practically running away from him. I halted after a few mins in hope that he'd finally gone but to my dismay he jump scared me from behind as I was looking in the other direction.
I yelped out loud as he laughed hysterically in my face, at my abnormal reaction. I bet your thinking how can this lively soul be rejected by someone as low like me? Well he's been saying the same words for five years straight now. Just because I live on the streets that doesn't mean I have been raised up in that kind of way. I knew most of his motives. As much as I love him as a friend there's no way I can trust him yet. "Not funny, Kim." I said glaring at him as I caught my breath and inhaled a lot of oxygen.
"Come on, Tris when will you accept my proposal?" He said pouting like a puppy and giving me them sparkly doll eyes. Without thinking, I smacked the back of his head whilst on my tip toes and grit my teeth before replying, "You think Brenna will be pleased if she finds out your doings behind her back?"
"She won't know, come on just give me a kiss~" I slapped him across the mouth before he could say anything else and looked at him in disgust. He sighed rubbing his cheek making it go even redder and looked at me with guilt. We stared at each other like we always do and then cracked up in laughter. We were literal crackheads. As much as I hated that side of him I still loved him like an older brother. It would have been literally boring and I'd end up having depression if it wasn't for meeting him.
We ate, laughed exchanged smacks at each other for almost two hours before it was time. Chills ran down my spine as I looked at my broken but still working watch and pleadingly looked up at Kim. He had never told me his real name before and instead told me to call him simply 'Kim.' "You know I have that I have to go now." I blurted out before quickly looking up at the sky, frowning at the reddish- purple colour.
"Yeah yeah sure, although I've always wondered why we can't stay out longer~" he asked curiously as always, before I cut him of again. "We see each other every day, now hurry!" I said getting up and losing my patience. "Another reason why we should be together." He muttered; I heard him so I pushed him of the wall we were sat on. He fell on his butt on the hard stoned pathway and it was my turn to laugh like a hyena at him. He grumpily rubbed his butt and mumbled some more words under his breath but I was too caught up in my laughter to realise.
My body tensed up in the middle of my laughter as my head was facing up at the sky. My eyes darkened at the passing clouds that were getting darker by the second. I dived down to quickly help Kim get off the ground and shooed him to start walking away. "Unusual of you to help me up." He said raising an eyebrow at my 'romantic' gesture. I sighed at him as he proceeded to walk away on his own and breathed out in relief. I waited patiently until he was out of sight before skimming my surroundings once again and running to the sewers.
There was precisely two minutes left until sunset. My heart pounded in my chest wildly as I sprinted towards my destination, my eyes darkening by the second. I'd been through this nearly every day of my life but every time night fell it felt like a whole new process that I still had to adjust to. Using all my strength, I pulled the drain hole and flung it to to the other side as I hopped inside. The foul and rotting smell invaded my nose and in a matter of seconds my eyes blacked out and a whole new vision seized my vulnerable eyes.
X- RAY vision. The curse that was bought upon me, made me quiver in fear and resent my anger to particularly no one but myself. No one apart from myself knew of this stupid ability and I'd cope with it for many years. Yet still, I would curl up in ball and comfort myself to try and go to sleep like I always did. But today felt different.
Further in the distance, I could hear faint footsteps approaching at a slow speed. I looked up from my uncomfortable position and lazily opened my eyes as slowly as possible. The dark vision made me gulp as I skimmed my surroundings at the many solid white objects laid on the ground. But as I looked to the left my heart stopped as all my nightmares came a reality as she saw a stealthy, bony skeleton sneaking his way closer to her.
She opened her mouth to try and scream but her mouth was dry as she witnessed the way the bones moved and acted like levers, the cracks of the joints, the upright body that provides a framework for the muscle and tissue attachment. Her heart raced in her chest as the skeleton moved closer and closer to her but one thing she realised was the slow and unusual heart beat she could see inside the rib cage. She screamed at the top of her lungs before darting up and running in the opposite direction.
"Wait!." She heard a low vague voice call out from behind. She had no idea were she was heading as she bumped into several things on her way, her eyes fooling her yet again. A trickle of wet slime slithered down her forehead as she looked down she couldn't see it but rather feel the liquid. As she was too caught up in looking at her transparent hands she bumped into something hard and metal which sent her flying back.
With blurred vision, she looked up at the white object that caused her to groan in pain. She tried getting up but the pain was increasing and the skeleton strived more closer. The organs squelching around in their protected place and the scene terrified her to the core as she fainted with the throbbing pain taking over in control.
