Professor Lydia Grey waited for the machine to finish, then shut off the power and turned to her audience. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the first public display of my Personality Overlay Engram Transference device." She gestured to the two graduate students plugged into the maze of electronics. "As you have seen, I have switched the minds and memories of these two volunteers. Allow me to demonstrate."

She snapped a vial under the nose of the first volunteer. "Paul? Are you in there?"

The volunteer choked awake. "I am, professor." Then, in a slightly different voice, "And so am I."
