Chapter 11: U-G-H!
Chapter 11
U-G-H!
*KRYSTAL
I woke up today with a huge smile, knowing that I'm beside Jarred. I flashed my eyes a thousand times into his face, and store this memory in my mind forever.
"Take a picture, it last longer." Jarred muttered while his eyes were still closed.
Yeah, I already did.
But I wouldn't want him to see me acting like this over him. He might take advantage of me, or something. I smacked his shoulder, wanting him to let go of me. But he tightened his hug, imprisoning me on his arms.
After few hours, we went downstairs and ate breakfast. We thanked Kirk for letting us stay in his house, and then Jarred drove me home. I gussied myself up and prepared for the afternoon classes. I got into my car and headed off to school. I guess we'll be continuing our school works, and me being one of the Junior Class Officers has some extra works to do. I am in-charge for the Grad Ball invitation that will be held next week. It's really tiring!
After my last professor dismissed us, I went to the information technology center to design the invitation. Luckily, many students were working here. They are enough to keep me company, knowing that I'll probably spend my night in here. I sat down in front of the last computer available and started cracking up with graphics.
I worked until past six pm, and I haven't eaten my dinner yet. The students are starting to leave. They waved goodbye at me, which confused me. They don't even know me, or do they?
My stomach is grumbling. The cafeteria is already closed, and I can't leave this computer running. The only fast food chains that are still open are outside the school premises. I decided to withstand my starve, and continue my work.
As I continued to work, my stomach ached even more. The door banged opened and I saw Jarred entered the room, with Pizzas.
"Being so work-a-holic now, huh?" he said as he sat down beside me.
"Nah." I didn't face him, and totally ignoring the savory of the sizzling pizza on his hand.
"You might want to try out these." he handed me a piece of pizza. I didn't take it, and acted as if I'm not hungry. But unfortunately, my stomach growled loudly and letting Jarred burst out a loud chuckle. "Seriously, Krys. Eat. I don't want you to get tired. You've been working so hard lately. You need a rest."
I finally took the pizza from his hand and then backed off from the computer. I took a bite at my favorite pizza. Jarred knew me too well. And how did he know that I'm here? Oh well. I might as well enjoy this pizza.
"Hey, this is actually awesome!" Jarred said with awe as he glanced at the computer I'm working.
I rolled my eyes at him. Honestly, he's way better than me. In fact, he's the one who taught me everything I knew about graphics. "You're kidding me!" I took a bite again and sip at the coke. "You know you're way better than me. You're an expert, note that. And oh, if you want to leave, the door's wide open." I didn't mean to sound rude, but I'm really flattered that he complimented my work, and I don't want him to notice that I'm charmed.
"I won't leave until you do." He said stubbornly.
"Fine!" is all that I can say.
I worked until past midnight. And there are a lot of exams tomorrow. The Senior president expected me to finish this work until tomorrow. Gee! She's so mean. And actually, she's one of the girls who were glaring at me the day that I talked to Dwayne. Maybe her blood boiled up, and she wanted me to suffer.
I looked at Jarred, who's already past asleep. He rested his head on the computer desk. I can't help seeing him wait for me like this. He's here waiting for me, but all I said was sarcasm. My conscience made me do my work faster. I finished past one am. I tugged Jarred and told him to go straight home.
"I'll take you home." He said and then yawned afterwards.
"But I've got my car, and there's no way you would leave your car behind." I replied. He loves his car more than anything. He wouldn't leave it anywhere. It's like his own brother.
"I can, of course." he said sleepily.
"And why is that?" I asked.
"Anything that is connected to you is more important than anything." And now he's stretching his arms.
I looked away quickly because I can feel my face blush. "Let's just go home separately."
He nodded but smirked. We headed together to the parking lot and rode our own gears. As I drive home, I noticed that Jarred's car was behind me all this time. He's taking the same path as mine. So I dialled his number, though he's just behind me.
He answered on the second ring. "Hey!"
"What the hell are you thinking?"
"Following you."
"Yes, I can see that alright. Go home!"
"I won't, okay? I'll follow you until you reached home. Besides, what's wrong with that? I'm just making sure that my soon-to-be girlfriend is alright." then he chuckled.
Is he serious about that? "Whatever, do whatever you want. Don't bother me." I already hung up before he could reply.
I stopped the engine and parked my car. I heard Jarred stopped his engine for a while, but the moment I entered the house he drove home.
I hurried to my room and buried myself into books. I reviewed in deafening silence, making me sleepier than ever. I slept exactly three am. How will I supposed to wake up early later? Just great! Instead of arguing with my mind, I closed my eyes and rest.
I flinched at the angry sound of my alarm clock. I quickly shut it and stood up reluctantly. I yawned while I stretch my arms, and took a warm bath afterwards. Then, I wore black leggings and put on my skirt above, matching it with a mustache-printed blouse. I slid on my black Chuck Taylor and then hurried downstairs.
I arrived at school at exactly six-thirty. A lot more earlier than I thought. When I entered the room, officers already surrounded me.
"What happened to your work, Krystal?" Katherine, our class President asked.
I gave them a confused yet frantic look. I'm pretty sure that I saved the file correctly. It has to be correct! I've worked hard for it to be finished.
"What happened? It's perfectly fine." they still seemed to be shocked. That's just an invitation, we can always just announce it, can't we? "Right?" I asked in the end.
They didn't answer me. Katherine dragged me outside the room, making our way to the ITC. Katherine presented me a work that didn't seem to be mine. Is this mine? Is this the one I made last night? No way! This thing was messed up, and definitely not my kind of style when it comes to graphics. But what if this is really mine?
I got frustrated at the thought. "Is this the one I made last night?" I slowly asked Katherine, hoping that she would say no. But why did she showed me this in the first place, if this wasn't even mine? God, no!
To my dismay, she nodded. "I'm sorry Krystal, but you have to do something about this fast. Or we'll be doomed altogether." She looked down for a moment and left without saying a word. But she mouthed sorry as soon as she reached the exit.
I was petrified at the moment. Why would anyone do something this mean? I'm never sarcastic to anybody, so there's no way that anyone would have a reason on getting back at me. UGH!
