oh, my love, what have you done?
at the trial of God, we will ask: why did you
allow all this? / and the answer will be an echo: why did you allow all this?

I. War doesn't determine who's
right.War determines who remains.
The village of Solarin, Shivaro ( mid-rim territory ) fifty-seven years before the Battle of Yavin.
War is her birthplace. Her skin still wet with blood, her throat raw from cries drowned out by sirens. She didn't even have time to enter the world properly before rough cloth replaced the gentleness of her mother arms. No love to welcome her now, only desperation.
Please stop, the plea comes with urgency. It is not enough to leave no visible trail when the wails of infancy rings between branches. The woman reaches, carrying the faux peace she can't muster in one of many attempts to quiet her, but she is no mother nor father. Try as she might. She has no choice except the one that leads her to place the infant at the bottom of a tree trunk and bare the illuminated blade that sings with seared flesh as it met its targets. Hour old eyes witness to their first slaughter.
II. And I know you mean so well.
But I am not a vessel for your good intent.
Venus Akuna's earliest sight of man-made violence ended in that forrest, but memories aren't a necessity for impact. There are times where she is certain the only explanation for the trajectory of her path is the brutalization of her birth. The Jedi speak of peace and compassion; they taught her she was as all living beings are: born of the force's unconquerable light. Never cruel, never uncaring. A life intended in every sense to be pure.
It is unfortunate that intentions are known to be poorly conceived.
She was raised as any Jedi, taught as all were taught under the banner of the noble order yet it is she who finds the frowns of her teachers when she bears her war-given strength. The glory she finds is all wrong, prideful and rotten, brutal and savage. Everything about Venus Akuna is wrong; a Jedi more apt at battle than peace treaties, more at peace with the metal of her blade in her hand than in the keen state of meditation.
The war has never let her go. Her mother and father remain dead and buried, her master—her savior—left to rot in a dank cell of the citadel. Where others see beauty and heavenly order, she sees ghosts and unsightly chaos.
An inheritance of bound wrists and chipped swords.
III. A deep wound — a severe wound that never healed — instead it simply grew — oh how it festered. How could he live?
Splintered Canyon, Reilon ( mid-rim territories )
twenty years before the Battle of Yavin.
He is something much kinder. That's why the possession of grief takes her before the death occurs. She has no time to tell him the truth, no time at all. Despite how much that good-natured boy deserved to know all those years ago.
Don't do this. The man reaches, extending a choice that no longer exists, but he is no god nor fabled warrior. Try as he might. Obi-Wan Kenobi cannot save her. The massacres cannot be reversed. The wars cannot be won. Blood cannot be unspilled.
This is the death of Venus Akuna.

This is purely a work fiction based on the Star Wars universe created by George Lucas. The original characters, storylines, and places/planets are of my own creation and belong solely to me. Major canon divergence included ( don't shoot me star wars loyalists! my imagination is just too big to stay with og stories! ) Content warnings include: death, gore & violence, war, depictions of drug abuse, depictions of mental illnesses, political violence, emotional abuse / emotional abuse within *romantic* relationships, explicit language, minor sexual content & nudity. So we're all kept safe and sound, I will place specific content warnings on chapters featuring these themes.
◈ TSULA LIKES TO RAMBLE ( a lot ) ◈
𖣊 So. . . I finally did it (?!) The last version of The World We Made has been like a looming shadow for months so ofc I had to scrap what I had and make it all nice and new! Most returning readers know this has been the most important story on this account that has been so neglected lately :( Unfortunately, time and energy got away from me for a while, but trust that I am back for 2025 ( y'all better hold me to this 🫵 )
𖣊 Obi-Wan is practically the mascot of this account by now *slowly shows five plus fics in my drafts* I can't say enough about my fav compassionate-silly-lil-tea-drinking-sassy-ass-honorable-to-a-fault jedi with an attraction to tragedy. He's is literally one of the few men I'd choose over the bear and that's saying something. I am going hard on fleshing out this man as he has always deserved. I am a massive fan of the prequels, the clone wars, and obi-wan kenobi, but there has always been a little something missing from these characterizations for me. I highly recommend Claudia Gray's Master & Apprentice to any star wars fan but especially to my fellow Obi-Wan fans because it does such a good job at giving insight into his character and developing spots previously untouched.
𖣊 Following that, this is your notice that this fic contains major canon divergence—borderline AU, if not a full fledged AU already. We begin in / slightly before aotc; opening with Venus' point of view half way across the galaxy from the Jango Fett-Padmé-Count Dooku assassination attempts. I am not really following that storyline so much as making it apart of my own storyline. I've definitely twisted around a lot of this movie to fit my own narrative, trying to make it less like an y/n insert. Plus we did NOT get to see enough about the Jango and clone side of things going on in the background so I really wanted to alter that and spend time actually exploring the mystery plot-like thing going on there.
Onto the clone wars now, there's a lot of cherry picking happening in this instance. As most of us tcw fans are aware, those arcs were all over the place at times, often not even in order lol. I'll definitely be adjusting a lot of those events, tweaking them for the benefit of Venus' overall position in the story. And rots might as well say bye-bye to its canon events, except for crispy anakin.
𖣊 To the not-so golden star. I've said this before, but Venus Akuna is a layered gal. Venus has never been the golden girl, rather she is the surveyed one. Her relationship to the order is complicated, at best, and completely falling apart, at worst. *religious trauma sprinkle* To add onto this bit, I have taken inspo from the novel Into the Dark by Claudia Gray by repurposing the idea of a wayseeker. A wayseeker in simplest terms is a jedi that has chosen to follow the force in full rather than the council / operates outside of the council. That's kind of a bare explanation, but I have intentions to expand this out slightly different than how it is originally introduced in the high republic novels. She's honestly a bit of a mess when you first meet her. Nothing like getting thrown out by your wlw forbidden romance bc you got memory loss to make someone a lil chaotic. Close to getting thrown out of your teenage forbidden romance bc your master is a murderer. Idk I think she's justified but y'all can be the judge of that :)
𖣊 Cutting this off now before the spoilers start coming out or I ramble for another ten paragraphs. Enjoy the space opera!

An extra sprinkle of love to minnie, cora, & queen for listening to the endless stream of ideas and queries that pour from me about this fic at any given chance. I couldn't have made this possible without you <3
