Ch 49: Jealousy

Okay, should I be worried about tomorrow? Because I freaked out!

First thing first, I didn't know that it was me that Jemi referred to, so I interviewed all of my Cowie girls, and here was the result:

Reanne: No, I have a biological family, why?

Ixora: I have had my biological family since I was a child, yes, why?

Elise: I only have my real family and I love them!

Kaoru: Ahhh, I miss my family so much.

Yummi: We aren't close but I believe I'm not adopted...

Aura: You guys are the only family I have.

Olivier: Hmmmm... I wonder if I'm adopted... I feel like I'm a sore eye for them...

I was pretty sure that none of them touched the orphanage as the place they grew up.. which meant that... it was only me.

Let's say that it was indeed me. Then, the next morning would be awkward, especially at school. Jemi on my left and Lance on my right, it was the most uncomfortable class ever.

"Do you want to switch seats?" Mamoru offered, seeing me so soulless on looking at my own seat.

"Is that okay with you, Mamoru?" I whispered in his ear.

"I'm okay with that. But Jemi would think that you fancy Lance more than him..." Mamoru resolved.

Ugh! He was totally right! I didn't think about that before!

"How can you know that it was about them?" I whispered again.

"Don't fret the small things..." Mamoru shook his head. "Decide, young lady. You want or not?"

"Huhuhuhu... Mamoru..." I wore my puppy eyes face. "I don't know what to do... Please help me."

"It's kinda easy, Luna..." Mamoru tilted his head. "If you like Lance better, you wouldn't think for a second about switching seats with me. You are confused because somehow Jemi has a place in your heart."

Does he really? I scratched my itchy hair out of confusion. Mamoru got back to his chair while waiting for my answer. I was still not making up my mind just yet. I tried to reach Elise who sat in my back row.

"Elise, please switch seats with me..." I whispered.

"If only you're not on the front row, I would be happy to switch with you, Luna..." Elise replied with a whisper. "You know I have a bad history of sleeping in the class? I don't think the front row is cozy enough for me. I'm sorry..."

I understood her reasoning so I had nothing to do rather than accept my fate. An indeed cruel fate. I sighed deeply. I could easily 'ditch' Lance but somehow my childhood love was still dwelling inside my heart.

I still chained myself to my past...

"How's your date?" Lance suddenly asked.

"It's not a date and it's nothing like what you're thinking," I answered with half of my patience drained.

"Yeah, sure, sure..." Lance rolled his eyes. "Is it nice to have someone who wants to learn about living in a place he doesn't want to be but does it anyway for you?"

"What do you want?" I looked at him with my side eyes.

"No, nothing," Lance claimed. "I just want you to know that sure it's nice to have that kind of person in your life, right?"

I didn't try to answer in the hope that Lance would just skip everything if I ignored him.

"You have a mouth and you can talk. Answer me," Lance got annoyed with my silent treatment.

I still didn't give him a response.

"Charlonzi! Answer me!"

"SHUT UP YOU FORCED FORCES!"

Forced forces..??

Olivier's yelling shook the class. Startled, Azriel and Koko at the back gained their reality after taking a minute's nap. The Burningshield history teacher was a kind soul who didn't have the heart to tell Lance if he crossed the border. Knowing that Olivier shouted from behind, I was pretty sure that Lance's voice was a bit too loud.

"Yeah! We can't hear the lesson!" Elise threw a bleh at Lance.

"Take your shit somewhere else," Mamoru who sat beside him finally had to open his mouth. "It's not like you own this class. Others are excited for the lesson and not you."

Lance panicked, he buried his face with books, trying to hide. What a cowardly move. Anyway, now he behaved, I would enjoy the lesson freely.

The teacher continued his lesson... awkwardly. He left the class a few minutes earlier because he wanted to give us some 'privacy' to talk to each other.

That was the plan. Instead of talking to Lance, I walked to Olivier's row.

"Oliv, thank you..." I smiled at her.

"What?" Olivier sounded shocked (I couldn't see her expression with that face mask) "Did I do something good or... bad?"

I immediately shook my head.

"It's nothing. It's just you come at the right time..." I explained. "I almost lost my patience."

"I'm glad," Olivier replied. "But now we have nothing to do, should we look for something to do?"

"Oh, nice idea! But... any idea?" I sat on the side of Olivier's table, expressing my interest. "Because I have no idea so far."

"Don't you have something to do with Lance and/or Jemi first?" Mamoru approached. "Maybe that could give you a bit of peace of mind..."

Well, Mamoru was right. I might not enjoy my stay here if I didn't solve the problem that... I didn't start. How could I possibly finish something that I didn't start? It's like I need to eat something that doesn't even exist.

"But how?"

Rather than answering, Mamoru chose to walk away from the class. Jemi was following him but I believed they aimed for different places.

"Wanna try to hit the library?" Jin asked everyone. "It's... probably not that grand but it's plenty to kill some time."

Not the worst idea. Well, maybe it was kinda worst for those who didn't really have a liking for books and the library. Nevertheless, we still marched to the library after some minutes of walking.

Yes, 'the library wasn't grand', my ass.

It was literally two pines with books. I bet if we held a hide-and-seek tournament, Olivier couldn't be found and buried alive with this huge amount of books written everywhere in the library with three floors. some of the books needed stairs to be caught so I decided to look for some books which dwelt on the lower shelves.

"So tell me who is your ex-wife, Jin?" Elise asks a question to Jin so suddenly.

"Do you have someone in mind?" Jin answered with another question.

"Well for starters you need to introduce us to your relatives or maybe another country princess or something?" Elise shrugged.

"You could just see everyone's schooling around this scholar area. Those are the Duke and Duchess' daughters and sons. And from that, you can make your guess. Happy guessing."

I wonder if the ex-wife was really here? It really didn't feel like the ex-wife existed in fact I came to believe that everything that Jin had said was all true including the one that he mentioned to have no exes.

We took one big table and found ourselves cozy with our own book reading or sleeping on it. I looked at the shortie who was pretty serious with the book she was reading.

"What's that book about? Found an interesting one?" I asked, peeking at her pages.

"I'm actually a bit interested in Burningshield's history..." Olivier answered casually. "Well, I always have a soft spot for history and dinosaurs so here I am."

Hearing Olivier's answer, we couldn't stop our unconsciousness from looking toward Jin who stood some steps behind him. His eyes sparkled again. I swore he was a dog in his previous life.

"Well... Olivier..." Yummi tried to bring some sense back to Olivier. "You can try to ask Jin about his own kingdom, right?"

"Oh, you're probably right," Olivier nodded fast. "Jin..."

"Yes?"

As Olivier's looking at her back, the young Jin and the real Jin were standing next to each other, answering Olivier's call. The young Jin was holding a lot of books, probably he just read all of them. I walked as quick as I could to Reanne and patted her shoulders because I tried really hard to stop myself from laughing. Reanne and Ludwig, on the other hand, were pretty much having red faces because of holding the same laugh. Cole and Yummi were speechless, they didn't expect two Jins to appear before their eyes. And the rest... was just...

This was their kingdom, yet we still didn't expect this to happen.

Olivier thought swiftly. The real Jin was invisible to the young one, so of course she had no choice but to ask the ... young Jin.

"How can I help you?" Young Jin approached Olivier casually. "You're the Vengiel's cowherd, right?"

"Cowherd, sheepherd, chickenherd, name it. I am just an animal lover..." Olivier explained. "Well... I just want to know a bit about Burningshield history. Could you tell me something?"

"Sure!" Young Jin looked delighted. "Let me tell you from the start..."

Some of the Cowie gang made an effort on running from the library just to laugh their ass off. But somehow the others were able to pull them without leaving. This view, this jealous scenery we saw... was nothing like we ever saw. How come in our right mind to imagine a jealousy between the same people? PLUS! How come the young Jin even managed a way smoother approach to Olivier?

Yes, Jin was covering his face, looking defeated by standing on the back of his younger self.
