Ch 36: Potion
I was flabbergasted with the sudden appearance of someone I knew I didn't know but I knew before me. I investigated his appearance: short golden hair, not like Elise's or Jemi's gold, but I was certain I saw this hair somewhere; a pair of blue eyes; and a white coat with neat length.
I surely recognized this kind of appearance.
"May... I help you?" I asked.
He tilted his head, then smiled.
"Yes, please help me to give these to your friends," he approached the insides of his wooden basket. "We need to go back to that time."
I was confused. That sentence alone represented my whole feelings but I followed him with my bag after I locked the door.
He gave me a small bottle of purple sparkling something liquid as we walked back to the village.
"You need to drink this. Everyone else, too."
I shook my head.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you but I don't know you. Even if you don't have a bad thing on plan, should I be worried about taking poison from an unknown person?"
The man laughed with his mouth covered.
"You are right. But please trust me," said the man, not convincing at all.
"Well, at least please let me know who you are," I whispered as I paced myself to match his rush. He didn't exactly run, but since he was taller than me, I needed to take some more steps.
"You shall know."
I didn't ask further. We stopped at the blacksmith while Azriel was still awake. We knocked on his door and he was there, startled at the new man before him.
"You are...." Azriel looked speechless.
The man smiled and gave him the poison.
"Please take it, and it would be lovely if you could help us give this potion to the others."
Ah, good luck with that. Azriel had a judging quality about a new person so I bet he wouldn't want to drink the potion... or should I say, poison?
But he drank right away.
"We need to do this in 10 mins... Could you take these to the rest?" he asked Azriel.
"Of course. I will go to the mountain area, the beach, and the supermarket," Azriel agreed obediently, taking the exact amount of bottles for the people. "You could get somewhere else."
"Neat. Let's go, young lady."
I was even more confused with Azriel's action. What happened? WHAT HAPPENED?
So many questions in my head. I and the unknown man went to the clinic. I knocked on the door and wished that Reanne and Kaoru didn't get annoyed with this.
"What? What?!" Kaoru panicked as she opened the door. She looked troubled with the coat she hurriedly used to cover her pajamas. "Is someone dying?"
I smiled flatly, while the man was laughing.
"Please drink this..." I gave her the potion. "Right now, and for Reanne too, please."
Kaoru looked bamboozled with her mouth open. Reanne behind her, looked calmer than her. Reanne accepted the potion, shook the bottle, and smelt it.
"Herbs...." she whispered.
"You are a good doctor," the mysterious man smiled. "It's nothing but I need you to take this, please."
As we tried to excuse ourselves to reach the Two Pines, Reanne with her sharp eyes scanned the man thoroughly. Scanning complete, she decided to run a bit to catch us and stopped.
"Jin is in the inn."
The man bowed to her and ran to the inn. Azriel and Reanne acted so strangely to this man. I wondered who is this guy? Is he some kind of an important person?
We walked and walked. The only brightest building in the night was the Two Pines so it wasn't hard to find it in the darkness. We reached the Two Pines not long after... with Jin and Olivier still sitting outside enjoying the night.
"Oh, he looks like you."
Olivier's comment brought a slap to Jin and me as she noticed that I and the unknown man approached closer.
AH! SO THAT'S WHY I THOUGHT I SAW HIM SOMEWHERE! IT'S BECAUSE HE LOOKED LIKE JIN!
Jin's face was pale white like he was seeing a ghost. Meanwhile, Olivier just let out a flat comment with her unamused face.
The man stood right before Jin and smiled.
"Oh, so this is the girl?" he chuckled. "Good luck."
Jin felt his knees weak from seeing the man in front of him. He covered his face and looked totally surprised.
"After all this time, and that's the first thing you want to tell me?"
He smiled again. "So, no good luck needed?"
Jin didn't answer. As if the man understood Jin more than anyone, he patted Jin's head.
"Alright, good luck. Drink this and ask her to drink this too."
Jin didn't even question the potion he received. Olivier, on the other hand, thought that it was a special potion from Reanne. We left the couple and charged in the Two Pines.
"So how many more of your friends we need to drink this?" the man asked me.
"Well, there are three of us in this inn..." I explained. "This inn's owner, our leader, and a beautiful lady but... she's kinda mysterious..."
The man nodded and took three bottles of potion from his basket.
"Does she wear a big hoodie?" he asked suddenly. "Does she have bright pink bob hair? And a pale skin but not sickish?"
I tilted my head.
"How can you know?"
He didn't answer my question but managed to give me two bottles.
"Let me give the potion to her, if that's okay with you, young lady."
"Well, it's not a problem with me but the pinky girl isn't someone we can approach empty-handedly..." I tried to make him aware of Aura's random traits.
"It's okay, we don't have much time..." he smiled. "Which one is her room?"
"On the corner...." I answered.
The mysterious man walked on a quest to come to the mysterious lady's room. Meanwhile, I gave Ludwig the potion by saying 'from Reanne' and he drank it straight away. After that, I ran to Kyo's room and knocked on his door, he opened it, and I shoved the potion into his mouth. He looked surprised but didn't say a thing.
I saw that the man was already inside Aura's room and I waited in the hallway, in case the mysterious man failed to convince her. Looking around, I drank the tasteless potion.
Aura didn't have a habit of locking her door. Truthfully, she didn't lock it just so Ludwig could water her flower, or if anyone asked her help, she could charge anytime.
But, she didn't expect this kind of 'charge'.
"Aura, wake up, please..."
Aura felt a soft rub on her face. This was an uncommon way to wake her up, that was what she knew. She opened her eyes, spoiled with the gentle rubs. Fully alert of everything, she grabbed the hand that rubbed her. Her red eyes were forced to function immediately upon the 'attack'.
"Who is...."
The Aura we knew was the strong and mysterious lady. She wasn't easily swayed by anything and was firm with dignity and grace. But at that moment, Aura's face was all bright red as she came to her consciousness. She fully recognized the man sitting on the side of her bed.
"You always look beautiful. I'm glad you don't get a burn somewhere..."
Aura let her grab off softly.
"Aren't you a fine man now, Mamoru?" Aura replied. "I don't know that you age so well."
The Mamoru man smiled. His dimples were even deeper than the previous smiles. He looked elated to meet Aura.
"Thank you. We could catch up later... I need you to drink this potion now..."
Aura accepted the potion, but she didn't put her focus on the potion. She was teary-eyed and watched the Mamoru man closely as if she didn't want to let that man go. Mamoru, on the other hand, looked surprised with Aura's gaze. He smiled and tried to understand the meaning behind her gaze.
"I've been thinking about your feelings after all this time..." said Mamoru, with his right hand rubbing Aura's cheek. "Tell me if I'm wrong with that gaze of yours..."
Aura shook her head a bit.
"You're not wrong..." Aura answered softly. "I've missed you so bad... I wished you were here..."
Mamoru let out a small laugh, a shy laugh.
"I'm... not used to it..." he laughed. "I'm sorry... It's so awkward, right? I didn't mean anything.. But...."
"Mamoru, tell me... You need to drink this potion too, right?" Aura asked.
A bit startled, Mamoru decided to answer and he didn't seem to be annoyed by Aura's sudden question. He always knew that Aura was smart and there must be a reason behind her question.
"What if I say 'yes'...?" Mamoru smiled lovingly. He put out his hand, asking for Aura's potion and Aura returned his potion.
"I know what you're thinking of, Aura..."
Without hesitation, Mamoru poured his and Aura's potion into his mouth. Seeing this, Aura didn't waste a single second on welcoming his gesture with her own lips. Together, they drank the potion as the beautiful night was slowly sinking into their sweet rendezvous.
