Chapter Twelve
Antonio and Gage

As Hayden apprehensively stayed behind, he turned towards the others to make sure they were working on uncovering whatever potion Noir was searching to make with the three snakeheads and dragon scale. Meanwhile, Gage lead the others and I away and down some stairs.

Lukas seemed to notice this wasn't the direction to Professor Welix's classroom first, but Vlad spoke up first, "Where are we going?"

Gage ignored his annoying questions until we finally reached the entrance to the Etals house, unfortunately for us, a strange girl wearing the same grey tie as Arthur and Arthur were at the foot of a marble vulture statue arguing amongst themselves, "It's a reptilender, Natalia, honestly!" Arthur hissed at her.

Natalia opened her mouth to speak but stopped as she saw us all approaching. She moved to the side and rose a brow as she spoke, "One head by day, three heads by night, what am I?"

She must have been referring to the riddle any Etals student had to answer each day to enter their house dormitory, something which Arthur had bragged about while we were trying to enter the Talian dormitory.

Gage looked someone agitated and so Natalia repeated herself again, pretending as if he hadn't heard her properly, however Gage bluntly hissed, "a whore," Natalia's eyes widened, and Vlad turned away so as to hide his urge to laugh.

I quietly wondered to myself for a moment how a whore could possibly have one head by day and three heads by night. Strange.

"I'm going to be occupying this room, can you two go anywhere else in the castle?" Gage asked, however the tone of his voice made it come off as an order.

"Gladly!" Arthur said, immediately bolting off in the opposite direction. Natalia nodded her head gracefully before she turned and left after him. With those two gone, Gage turned towards the statue, stepping closer to it to not allow us to hear me speak something to the statue.

It seemed to accept whatever he said as it began to slide towards the left, allowing us all to pile inside.

"Wands out everyone," Gage said whilst also taking out his wand. Lovino quickly followed orders, but Amber and Antonio hesitated as they exchanged looks, wondering what Gage had planned. Once all four wands were out, Gage flicked his wand towards the side, without saying a word, he caused everyone's wands to fly out of their hands and into his right hand.

"This is for extra precautions. I'd rather not have any of you casting spells during my line of questioning like you did back in the library," he said, staring directly at Lovino who had earlier, cast a spell on the me after being scolded to do so by the others to allow me to listen in on the conversation.

He looked around at all of us until his eyes finally fell on Lovino again, "You're in the Hets house, right?" He already knew the answer to it, but still waited patiently until Lovino finished nodding, "You do know what those in the Hets house are known for... right?"

Lovino nodded much slower this time, unsure of where Gage was planning on going with this.

Then suddenly, he spoke loud and forcefully with long pauses after each word as he spoke, "Honour. Order. Precision. Honesty."

Lovino jumped slightly in his seat but Gage continued, "If you continue to lie by saying you know nothing of what happened that night, I'll be forced to contact the Headmaster directly and I doubt he'll take kindly to your disloyalty to the rules."

Lovino was now trembling in his chair, I could tell he wanted to blurt out what had happened, but he also didn't want to expose Alfred right in front of Antonio who had his eyebrows furrowed as he looked for the right words to say, then finally, Lovino opened his mouth to speak but Antonio blurted out first, causing Lovino's words to become muffled, "WHY DO YOU CARE?"

Even Gage was taken aback by his sudden booming voice, but he answered quickly, "You know why. If Noir discovers Alfred's abilities, he could control him long enough to be able to use him as a weapon. Lovino, answer with a yes or no only... Did Alfred Jones preform the Explosion jinx on those bloodlavers yesterday night?"

There was a tense pause in the room, but then everyone's eyes widened in disbelief as Lovino helplessly answered his question, well all except for Gage who allowed a twisted grin to smear across his face as Lovino's answer, "Very good, Lovino. Choosing honesty over pressure from liars." He growled as his blue eyes danced around at all of us.

"You're dismissed Lovino, have your wand." Gage reached out to hand Lovino back his wand, but there was a slight hesitation as he looked down at it, then he took it and with his head bowed, he quickly walked out of the room.

Vlad closed his eyes as he took in a deep breath to try to conceal his disappointment, Gage meanwhile glanced over at Antonio who was frowning right at him from his seat. Gage rose one of his bushy brows as he spoke to him, "In our second year, I was so certain you would become the Talian Prefect. You always seemed just so..." he hid the urge to laugh then continued, "well not magically talented as you were far behind even first years in the simplest of charms, yet you had the motivation and charisma in you... What happened?"

"I didn't want to become a Prefect, it's that simple." Antonio replied lamely.

"We may have not been on close terms, but I knew of you well enough—"

"Yeah, you and your gang of goons loved to pick on us, didn't you?" He shot back.

Gage's smile disappeared, "We were children, I thought you were past that."

"It was three years ago!" Antonio sat up.

"Don't make this here about that, you were recently discovered amongst these others to be concealing this nogift from us too, so don't forget you're not innocent."

"You're not innocent either, Noxx. Is that why you became a Prefect? To be able to break the rules without anyone talking back to you? To have more power? Come on now, we're all listening." Antonio was unblinking as he continued his furious rant, though his voice did crack slightly now and again as he didn't seem the type to be usually angry.

Gage didn't answer anything, rather he kept his eyes looking solemnly down at him, "Give me back my wand." Antonio was heard as he stood up.

Remaining quiet, Gage's eyes darted away for a second, he exhaled deeply then glanced back at Antonio who was no more than a foot away from his face, "Sit. Down." Gage said in a low whisper. The Talian boy wasn't going to obey and Gage knew this, so in an instant, he had risen his wand in his left hand above his head and smacked it down until the tip was aimed slightly below the seat Antonio was on.

Whatever Gage had done, it had caused Antonio's body to fly backwards into the chair, wand still in hand, Gage caused both of Antonio's hands to rise above his head, then swing behind his back in a strange and contorted way. I could feel myself tense up as the hairs on the back of my neck rose, Amber had a look of horror on her face, perhaps wishing her own house Prefect was there to protect them from Gage, and Lukas and Vlad shared a confused expression as neither knew exactly what to do. While I wanted to shout something to get him to stop, Antonio also didn't seem to be in pain, just annoyed as Gage forced him to sit down.

Then as I watched Gage finally loosen his grip on Antonio's body, a strong sense of realization hit me.

Whatever spell he had cast to gain control of Antonio's body, he didn't say a word to cast it.

Whatever spell he had cast, I had seen it before, I knew it. That was the spell that must have been cast on me to help me enter the Talian dormitory earlier in the day.

Ailat

Their main colours are red and yellow. They are known for their pride and confidence, they tend to value bravery, courage, strength, and strong leadership. To those in this house, it's not always about the end result, but the journey there (of course a shiny trophy never hurt anyone – unless they were hit with one...) Many Ailat house members tend to grow up to work in exciting or more outlandish jobs when compared to those of the other houses.

Some famous Ailat house members are: Allister and Peter Kirkland, Alfred Jones, Ludwig and Gilbert Beilschmidt, and Michelle Bonnefoy!

Ians

Their house colours are Blue and orange. They are known for their creativity, originality, mind, and talent. Although many might believe them to be the most intelligent when compared to the other houses because of their strong values on "mind," their intelligence is often focused on spirit and self before general book studies. Many students placed in this house tend to have stronger abilities in divination and charms compared to other types of magic.

Some famous Ians house members are: Vladimir Lupei, Lukas Bondevik, and Francis Bonnefoy!

Talians

Their house colours are Yellow and Orange. Known for their kindness, loyalty, expressivity, and care. Although they might come off a little frailer then the other houses, in truth they have the best luck when it comes to life in general. Many Talians are well-rounded and can excel in multiple classes compared to students of other houses who tend to have certain strong suits, this is perhaps since Talians are often the most hardworking students and they put much care into their work and especially relationships.

Some famous Talians house members are: Amber, Antonio Fernandez, Feliciano, Matthew Williams, Erika Vogel, and Irunya Chernenko!

Hets

Their colours are green and white. Known for their pride, honour, rules and order, precision, and skills. Students of this house tend to hold stronger passions for things they are interested in. Since they have a strong belief that rules keep order and peace, those in this house do their best to make sure they are following the rules and remaining honest with each other and themselves. Of course, they also hold honour high on their list and so tend to do what they seem is the most honourable choice in any situation, this can mean following the rules and obeying, or being honourable to a friend and lying to protect them. Students in this house tend to vary from one another, while some might wish to live high and prideful lives with wealth and riches, others might want to settle down and live a modest life.

Some famous Hets house members are: Lovino, Kiku Honda, and Elizabeta!

Etals

Their house colours are black and grey. They are known for their wisdom, intelligence, abilities, and power. Due to their values, those in this house tend to strive to be the best. Although many do tend to either come off as anti-social, the students in this house tend to take longer to open up to others. Students of this house tend to accomplish impressive and powerful roles in their lives as they always strive to be the very best they can be. However, due to how strict the sorting into this house tends to be, it is often very rare for someone to be placed into this house (because although many might thrive for wisdom, intelligence, and power, they also often tend to hold other motivations and aspirations within them, thus diverting them into different houses), that is why it has a significantly smaller population when compared to the other houses. Of course, as in the case of Arthur Kirkland, one can be placed into this house simply by asking.
