A Shocking Discovery

The World Unknown
Chapter Sixteen
A Shocking Discovery

With so many important things running through my mind, I decided to find Amber, so she could help me organise everything. I knew she wanted to meet the Prefects to show off her list, so my first thought was that she'd be in the library. Upon turning the corner however, I ran into Arthur who was idling about as if waiting for someone.

"Arthur! Do you have your scrolls now?" I asked, looking down at his hands, only to see them swaying empty at his side.

"My scrolls? Oh... No." He said with a vacant expression, "for what?"

I squinted at him, a bit suspiciously and he blinked a few times before he finally remembered what he had just said no more than ten minutes ago. "Oh... That's right, I forgot."

Not wanting to push it with him, I turned my attention to the rest of the plan, "Do you know where we could find Amber?"

"No, but I'll help you look." He replied lamely as he followed behind me, "have you gone to check the Talian commons room yet?"

"No, I don't think she went that way. She had something she wanted to show the prefects."

"Really, what was it?" Arthur asked quickly.

"Just some potions Noir might be trying to make with some ingredients. I'm sure it'll help the prefects fiddle down what Noir might be planning." I continued walking, but as I saw Arthur had stopped responding, I turned back to see him frozen in place, yards from me.

"Are you alright?" I called out.

"I'm perfectly fine." He smiled back.

"It just hit me though, I actually know where she's at right now. Follow me!" And with that, he sped passed me and led the way to the dining hall where Amber was standing idly, "Amber!" I called out, relieved to see her.

"Hey, you two!" She waved back, "What's up?"

"We need your help," I began immediately, "I know you love lists and we're trying to figure out who hasn't gone to see the Illendotter today. We're thinking that whoever isn't on that list probably stole her egg."

"Interesting theory." She said, already pulling out a paper from her cloak's pocket, "I know we can go ahead and illuminate pointless background characters like Roderich and Francis, and I doubt any second year or below is witty enough or brave enough to attempt something like that, so let's skip straight to the main characters and secondary characters."

"Um. Amber? What do you mean by characters?" I asked, confused, "We aren't book characters you know..."

"Oh. I didn't mean that, it's just, I want to keep things simple for the sake of time." She explained, "Plus, this obviously isn't a story, otherwise we'd have caught the eggnapper by the end of the chapter."

"OK. She gets it, Amber, can we move on?" Arthur spat.

"Right. So, beginning with the Prefects... Who hasn't gone in?" I asked, putting us back on topic, "I saw Bliss there this morning, being moody and what not. Before her, though, I talked to Allistor too. He said Elizabeta was running around with Ludwig, trying to keep the peace..."

"And I saw Hayden consulting students in there this morning." Arthur said.

"I didn't see Hayden." I said, furrowing my brows, "Or Gage."

"I didn't see Gage in there, but I swear I saw Hayden." Amber said.

"Same here." Arthur replied, "That could mean Gage is the egg kidnapper!"

"Well, that, or we just haven't seen him entering the Hets garden! We should put him down on the list, but there could still be other suspects."

"Like who?" Amber asked, raising a brow, "We've got a suspect, why don't we go investigate and if it's not him, we can keep this up."

"But what if it is someone else? We can't just investigate someone because we're lacking eye witnesses!" I blurted out.

"______, it's just a lead. If he's innocent, he's got nothing to worry about. We'll come up with names on our way to his dorm." Arthur pushed.

I furrowed my brows, knowing I've lost this battle and crossed my arms, "Fine. Let's get going then."

Arthur led the way to the Etals commons room, a room which I had recently become quite aware of. The tall, marble, statue of a vulture stood glaring at us as we approached it, as if on cue, it said, "I have more faces than the moon. If I am good, I need not ever show you a single one. If I am bad, you see every single one. What am I?"

We all exchanged looks with one another before Amber spoke up, "A shop keeper?"

"Why the hell wouldn't a shop keeper want to be seen? Wouldn't he be trying to keep a business running?" Arthur spat, rolling his eyes, "Figures, why you're a Talian."

"W-What?!" Amber's voice was shrill. Amber's body language was offended. She continued, "If you hadn't gone crying to the headmaster every single night about the test being wrong, you'd STILL be a Talian!"

"G-Guys! Now's not the time to argue!" I sighed out, noting the lack of focus they had now that we were in the dungeons. "Arthur do you have a guess you'd like to try?" I asked.

"A guess for what?" His green eyes darted from me to the vulture before he raised a brow, "What on earth are you wanting to get in here for?" He asked suddenly.

I rolled my eyes, annoyed at his utter lack of focus and moved forward, pushing him to the side, "I dunno, a thief? I called out my answer, "a thief because if they're good, they won't be seen, and if they're bad, all their faces, their lies, will come to light. Is that right?"

I didn't have to wait for a response from it, as the vulture started moving to the side, allowing us to enter the Etals commons room again. Arthur was still furious, "What do you want from here nogift?"

Amber punched Arthur's arm rather harshly as she hissed out, "Don't be rude!" Then, turning her attention back to me, she asked, "What are you looking for?"

I didn't know why they were pretending as if they didn't know what was happening right now since they both had just argued against me to come down here to investigate if Gage was the egg thief or not.

"If I were Gage, where would I hide something?" I wondered more to myself, than to them.

"Hide something?" Arthur asked, offended, "Gage? He would never hide anything? What are you up to, nogift?"

Amber went to punch Arthur again, but was stopped as he rose his wand above his head and pointed it at her, "Don't you dare."

Amber froze in place, and though I quickly began looking around for the hidden egg again, I could tell she was clenching her wand tightly in her hand, ready for him to let up for the slightest second so she could teach him she was not one to be threatened.

I walked over to a corner in the room when I found myself stopping to listen, the door which we had just gone through, was opening. Someone was coming inside. I turned my back on the door and began frantically searching some more just in case that was Gage when my eyes suddenly stopped on a strange object leaning against some books on a shelf. I approached it quickly but just as I put my hands on it, there were more voices in the room.

"YOU!" Gage's voice was clear as day as a spell flew right at me, causing my hand to slip off the mysterious object and fall numb to my side, "Turn around and explain yourself!" He shouted, teeth gritted.

I looked towards Arthur, but his wand was aimed at Amber who had hers up in defeat.

Then, looking towards Gage, I saw Elizabeta, Allistor, Hayden, and Bliss watching the scene with confusion.

"We... I... I thought we might be able to find something down here." I said, somewhat vaguely.

"Find what?" Elizabeta asked, raising an eyebrow as she walked closer towards me with her wand pointed directly at me, "I'm not familiar with nongifted laws, but here in the gifted world, breaking and entering is illegal... At school or not." She said.

"I wasn't! I didn't! Arthur led Amber and I down here!"

"Liar!" Arthur hissed, "One second I was leaving the Hets Garden, the next, I was outside the door! The nogift must've gotten Amber to put me under some body binding spell!"

"I didn't do anything!" Amber exclaimed, "I didn't cast anything on you, you egotistical punk!"

"Oh whatever!" Arthur hissed.

"ENOUGH!" Gage shouted, walking closer towards me, "What were you hoping to find down here?"

I couldn't find a way out of this without either lying or confessing to the truth. Not seeing much, I could lose as I had so much running through my mind, I admitted to the truth, "The egg."

Elizabeta was right beside me now, her gaze was cold and focused. Behind Gage and Hayden, I saw Bliss's eyes, they were wide with shock, but as she furrowed her brows, I noticed that she wasn't looking at me, but at Gage.

"Just check that corner behind me. Next to the books, on the ground." I whispered towards Elizabeta.

"Speak up!" Gage shouted, furry rising in his voice.

Elizabeta looked at me suspiciously but approached the corner anyways.

I could hear her as she inhaled a sharp breath of air.

An invisibility cloak fell loose from her outstretched hand and fell onto the ground, reverting to its original colour, brown.

"The egg is here." She said, covering her mouth before she went to pick it up with care and urgency.

Allistor's wand was now raised as he pointed it towards Gage, "Any reason for that, Noxx?"

Gage's eyes remained focused on the scene before him. I didn't even notice that the spell he had cast on me had worn off yet.

"You're not going to believe me, regardless of what I say, are you, Kirkland?" Gage responded.

"PEGO!" Allistor shouted, slashing his wand in the air before him, Gage didn't respond, but also waved his wand before him, casting a small force field to appear before his wand. The force field cracked and disappeared as soon as Allistor's spell hit it, and it flew right back at him, hitting him in the face and knocking him back against the wall, where he fell, cold.

Elizabeta was too busy protecting the egg to help in the battle and Amber had now disarmed Arthur was holding him down so he would jump at Hayden or Bliss to help Gage.

While Hayden looked shocked at the display, Bliss looked utterly devastated, she was squeezing her eyes closed and covering her mouth and nose with both hands as tears streamed down her face.

"Bliss, open your eyes and look at me, you know me, you know I'm not lying!" Gage exclaimed.

She didn't budge, instead Hayden walked in between the two and rose his wand slowly, "Gage, let's not do anything regrettable here."

"Shut up!" Gage shouted, using his wand to swing an oil lamp at Hayden, but before it could hit him, it froze in midair, then shot back to its original spot on a table nearby.

I glanced at Bliss who had her eyes open and her wand raised. Her voice was small and cracked as she spoke to Gage, "I told you, didn't I?"

"What?" Gage said.

"You were the only one I couldn't read, Gage... Is this why?"

"No, of course not, Bliss!" Gage exclaimed, sounding defeated now that nobody but Arthur was still wanting to defend him.

"Gage..." She said, as defeated as him, in her voice, the sound of trust shattered to pieces as she rose her wand higher. A bright neon blue light shot from it and it wrapped itself around Gage. He didn't even try to fight back this time. Hayden rose his wand next, casting the same spell as her, "Repunz!"

Allistor pushed himself up off the ground and struggled to reach for his wand. He let out a sigh and like Hayden, said, "Repunz."

A blue cage of the same colour slowly began to appear around Gage. His blue eyes looked out through the bars right at Bliss as if by doing that, her mind would be changed.

"To the dungeons. We'll question everyone there." Allistor shouted, "Liz, take the egg back to its mom then meet us down there. Hurry!"

"Ahead of you!" Elizabeta replied as she ran out of the room, still protecting the egg in her arms.

"Amber. Arthur. ________. Follow us." Allistor said as the other two began leading the way out of the room and towards the dungeons. Vlad would have to wait for me until this was all sorted out. The entire way to the dungeons, Arthur continued shouting Gage was innocent. The entire way to the dungeons, the sound of Bliss's sniffles were as audible as Gage's pleas to her. The entire way to the dungeons was uneasy.

Quick update!

Are you enjoying this story?!

Do you use the Episode app?!

If you answered yes to either question, search for "A World Unknown" on there!

Done by the account "Just Andrews"

I have a direct link to it on my profile page, but I'll also put it in the comments if you'd like to check it out!

It's not exactly the same as this story, I had to change some things in order for it to translate properly, and character-wise, some people will have different names. I'll probably end up fixing it later on, but yeah...

Like, Alfred is Adrien, and stuff but ughhh. I'll probably end up making Alfred a different character than Adrien later on, idk yet, but yeah.

And the houses are the same, except for their names, but I just wanted that story to be a little more "seperate" from the Hetalia fandom, since I don't really consider myself a part of it (even tho I'm only known because of these fanfics...)

I'm just wanting to find my own thing yanno? I'm taking baby steps lol.

Anyway, yeah! I'll still be finishing this story, but I'll also be posting on there every now and again.

Hopefully you enjoy and stick around till the end! I have tons more planned and I can't wait for you all to see it!! :D
