Mistletoe

Okay for some reason I felt like making a Christmas AU so yeah

"This is getting ridiculous," Hunter scowls at the couple, who have just pulled away from yet another kiss. The mistletoe hung over them, matching the Christmas decorations scattered around the base.

Skye only smirked at him playfully, her hands still placed on Grants chest, his arms wrapped loosely around her. "You're just jealous cause Bobbi isn't here to give you some Christmas lovin," she joked.

"Oh believe me, I already have more than enough of that, it's just not at all public," he winked before heading over to the fridge, presumably to get more beer. Grant rolled his eyes at Skye, who was making fake gagging noises.

Since the beginning of December, when the Christmas decorations had been set up Skye had took it upon herself to put some mistletoe here and there around the base, and dragging and unsuspecting Grant Ward into a rather pleasant trap. Once he got the gist of what was at play here he began setting up his own mini bushels, or sometimes just dangling them over her head (Oh, the perks of being tall.)

Sometimes Skye would even enjoy luring Fitzsimmons into her trap, and at first they were very flustered until one week later, where every time they were surprise attacked Fitz would gracefully press his lips against hers, and Skye found it pretty adorable (She totally ships it.)

"Okay, so I'll be off base for a little bit okay? Not too long," Grant smiled down at Skye, lightly brushing a pice of hair out of her face.

"Good, you better not keep your girlfriend waiting," she threatened him. She was only half serious. He thinks so at least.

"I won't," He insisted, giving her one last lingering kiss before unwrapping his arms from her. He grabbed his plain black duffle bag and waved goodbye to everyone in the lounging area, momentarily testing his eyes on Skye before turning down the hallway.

"Okay, so movie time! I was thinking Planet of the Apes," Fitz said form the sofa.

"Of course," Simmons sighed dramatically, looking over at Skye with a help-me-deal-with-this-dork look. She grinned and joined them with a large bowl of pretzels, but she felt a little crestfallen. How is she gonna deal without pulling Grant under the mistletoe about five hundred times a day?

"Relax, the robot will be back soon enough for you to get your bloody hands all over him," Fitz said with pretzels stuffed inside his mouth. She forgets how well those two knew her sometimes. She took the cold beer Hunter handed to her gratefully and watched the T.V. screen as the apes marched around proudly, Fitz boring his eyes into the screen as if it was more interesting than anything else.

"For now well only have to deal with this one," Simmons chided.

Skye was many things, but one she excelled at was impatience. She stood there, bouncing on her heels, waiting for the door to slide open.

And finally it did. It raised, metal lightly grinding against stone, revealing Grant, wrapped in a heavy coat, chilly air following him into the hallway. The instant he saw her he grinned, a genuine smile that melted her from the inside out.

"Finally. You have no idea how bored I've been," Skye smirked as he approached her, his whiskey brown eyes trained on her as if she was a spectacle. He lifted his hands and cupped her face, and despite him just being out in the cold his hands were surprisingly warm against her skin.

"Yeah, I have a few things in mind that may make up lost time," his smile turned into more of a smirk. She had a feeling she knew what he had in mind. "But I still have some work to do around here. But I'll definitely be done later," he lightly brushed her hair out of her face, a movement that he seems to do all the time.

Skye's mouth fell open a bit. "Seriously? You've just got back, it's been so long," she whined.

"Only three days," he corrected her.

"But still," she pouted. "I want to be with you now."

"I'll be done soon, I promise, and it will be worth it," Grant reassured her, giving a her a light peck on her lips before heading off to god knows where.

"I give up," she threw her hands in the air in defeat before heading into the training room.

After she hopped out of the shower and threw on some sweatpants and a plain t-shirt she walked out to the living room, where Grant was waiting.

"Are you gonna run off again?" She raised her eyebrows at him. He only chuckled.

"No, but I need you to come with me, there's something I have to show you," he held out his hand and she took it gratefully, feeling the warmth she felt on her face earlier.

"Lead the way robot." He gently directed her through the widening halls, barely stopping to look where he was going, as if he's been there a million times. He stopped at the end of a hallway, letting go of her hand to approach the large wooden door.

"How'd you find this? I didn't even know this existed," she said curiously, edging toward the door with building excitement.

"I have my ways. Now after you," he opened the door for Skye, letting her envelop herself in darkness. "Turn on the lights," he whispered softly in her ear, sending chills up her spine. She groped the side of the wall until she felt the switch and flipped it upwards. She gasped at the sight.

The light switch was somehow connected so that Christmas lights softly glowed, weaving in and out of the ceiling full of mistletoe. Arched windows placed frequently throughout the vanilla colored room revealed the fluffy snowflakes that flew past the glass, distinct against the dusky sky.

He even had her favorite holiday album playing softly, the music lightly bouncing off the walls, something that probably would've been eerie in a horror movie, but in this case it was peaceful. A word that an agent almost never can say. The white berries protruding out of the leaves glittered in the lights, almost like stars. It was probably the most beautiful thing shes ever laid eyes on.

"Grant, I..." Skye turned, lost for words. She saw him on one knee, she didn't even realize he was while she was looking around at the room.

"Skye," he started, looking at her like she was as breathtaking as the room, "Everyday I've spent with you has been the best thing that's ever happened to me.

If you weren't here I wouldn't be who I am. I wouldn't be open. Once I realized you felt the same for me I knew that there couldn't be anyone else in the world that I could love the way I can love you. More importantly, I couldn't imagine anyone else I'd rather spend the rest of my life with. I'm gonna cut myself off before I become too cheesy," he grinned sheepishly, "but, Skye, will you-"

Suddenly they were on the floor. Skye had tackled him in the tightest hug she could muster, sending them to the ground. She pressed her lips against his until the smile that spread on her face prevented her.

"So should I take that as a yes?" he laughed, a light and carefree one. Skye loved hearing that.

"Duh, robot," she laughed, bunching his shirt up in her fists as she pulled him in for another kiss. That was until the door bursted open and Fitz and Simmons toppled out of it, Hunter laughing behind them and Bobbi looking at him with amused disapproval.

"Ha, ha. Very funny," Fitz grumbled, helping Simmons up.

"So you said yes, right?" Simmons asked excitedly, brushing off her pants and ignoring the fact that Hunter sent them to the ground.

"You guys were eavesdropping?" Skye laughed, though her face had a slight red tinge.

"We couldn't wait any longer," Bobbi confessed, grinning at the sight of Skye laying on Ward.

"What can you expect from a group of spies," Skye rolled her eyes, "and yes, I did say yes."

Simmons made a sound that she assumed was out of excitement. "Finally, if you waited any longer I was gonna explode."

"Now you two go to your room," Hunter ordered; "you guys still need to make up for lost time if you know what I mean," he winked.

"You're disgusting," Skye stuck her tongue out at him. "But- Oh my god."

She completely forgot that she hasn't even seen the ring yet until Grant held the box so that it was in her view. Simmons and Bobbi's mouths fell open; the ring was beautiful. Little diamonds engraved in the center of the rings silver band stopped at one beautiful diamond, not too big but just the way Skye liked it. Correction, loved it.

She was at a complete loss for words again. Grant just smiled warmly and gently held her hand, slipping the ring on do that she could view it under the sparkling light.

"You're right," she looked at him with love in her eyes, "it was definitely worth the wait."

"Perfect," he replied. "So now that's off my agenda, we have some plans... See you guys tomorrow," Ward winked at the group of spectators before dragging Skye out of the room.

"They're lucky they're cute," Bobbi watched as they disappeared down the hallway, Fitz and Simmons rolling their eyes behind her.
