The trial
Ianthe
As everyone was arriving, I stayed in my room, wanting time to slow, for I did not want the day to start.
The Fae accents and footsteps was all I could hear and it was just now hitting me that today could be the end. Will could die today, and the last conversation we had was me yelling at him. Though he deserved it, I still didn't want him to die. Not after how he loved me.
But it was his fault.
He turned you
"Shut up," I hear Aedion say, hearing the voice as well. Lydia had told us how the Queen had tried to persuade her to go against us, she was balling with joy as she told us of her encounter with Eugene's ghost. I couldn't help but scoff, I already had someone against me.
Surprisingly this grew Lydia and Throne closer, after Lydia had her closure with Eugene all her focus turned to Thorne; as he tried to calm her about this trial.
Aedion had stayed with me last night, sleeping on my floor. Saying it was his cousin/bodyguard duties. I reminded him that he was always closer to Harley and not me, but he told me that had changed. That he still loved and would do anything for Harley, but they She was no longer the cousin he could tell anything to. She was not perfect for she kept secrets of the blood oath and of being Fae from him.
I knew deep down, I knew Aedion forgave her, but things were different between them now.
"Don't listen to the Fae Queen she's just trying to turn us all against each other and use us," Aedion began and I nodded. "Hey," he began seeing my discomfort as he sat beside me. "It's going to be ok Ianthe, we're all going to fight for you"
"I know," I say "but Will I..."
"Ianthe, If this is bothering you, go talk to him, fix things before it all gets destroyed," I nodded at him in agreement. I needed to fix this.
On my way to Wills room, I was collapsed by a huge hug. I saw the glimpse of red hair and leather jacket and I knew it was Ansel.
"Aye!" She screamed.
"Hey Ansel," I say, not really knowing what to say.
"Wanna get a drink?" She asks.
"I...I...I don't drink anymore," I say, knowing she'd say I had grown up, or mock me saying I was too good for drinking and that I needed it.
"Oh good!" She spoke as she let out a huge gasp.
"Wait....you quit drinking to?" I ask, astonishment filling my voice.
"Yes girl! I...It caused me problems and put me situations where I wasn't myself so....I'm trying to be better," she spoke and a grin formed on my face.
"I'm so proud of you," I say as she smiled back and nodded.
"What you up to? Besides this trial crap," She asks.
"Well,...." I sat down and got her to join me and I spilled everything to her. I don't know why I was ever nervous, this was my best friend , who was now better, and she was here to help me.
Merwin
J had went out with Clacey today. He was trying to be away from the trial. This trial was bothering everyone, I desperately wanted to get away as well. I thought about hanging out with Lucy all day but she had been with Jermone was morning, and Daniel was busy with his family today.
"Hey dad?" I say, immendiantly he looked up and smiled. He always loved being laced dad for I was the only one who could do that, no one else called him that for he was J and Lucy's step dad.
"Yeah?" He spoke as he came into my room. I reach for the basketball propped against my bed.
"Wan shoot some hoops?" I hadn't been able to play with him any lately. From the squad to me being with Daniel, it's almost like I forgot about playing with my dad in our back yard.
"Ofcourse I will," He paused "if you want to invite Daniel over,..I get it,"
"No!" I begin, "dad, Daniels not going to replace you, you're still the most important man in my life," I said, though Daniel was important and I loved him, he wasn't permanent -not yet anyway- and my dad would always be there. It was just now hitting me of how much I'd been ignoring him lately, I needed to be with him while I still could.
"That means the world to me Mer," he spoke with a grin. "But I'm still going to beat you," He spoke grasping the balm out of my hand.
"Umm...I don't think so," I say as I ran after him, trying to get my ball back.
Clacey
I went out with J today, hoping it would distract me. The voices were following me.
He's not worth it
What can he give you???
He can barley even communicate with you
You'd do better without him
Trust me
I blocked out the thoughts. Besides I loved J and though he wasn't perfect, I knew he was t worth leaving.
"W..sh....wha.whats...we.wrong?" He asks, taking me away from my thoughts.
"Oh,...um" I pause "just voices it's stupid,"
"M...momma....s...v.oicss voices,...drove....h..her...m..mad," J spoke, concern filling his face.
"I..I'm not crazy J, I..I'm ok just thinkings all," I shrugged, he placed a hand on my shoulder.
"A...an..about...??"
"Ok," I begin knowing that I needed to tell him "I'm just getting thoughts from someone but she's just trying to mess things up so it's all fine,"
"Mm..me...mess....w..hat..what?"
"Us," I begin but continue before J panics. "J I'm not going to leave you, this...Fae is trying to convince me to but she's failing ok,.." he looked at me with question, like he was wanting me to tell him what she was telling me.
"Clacey," He spoke with no stutter as he continued "I...I'm.....ah...a man," I smiled at him, but he kept going. "I...I'll....lo...love you...like one," though he stuttered his voice dropped at least 2 Octaves and I never would have thought J could make me have chills like this before. He must have noticed because he grasped me my hand and kissed me.
"Yes J," I say with a smile one he brought to my face "you are my man."
Ianthe
They had everyone sit at a long table. All the eyes and ears of the Fae staring at me in judgment made my skin crawl like a spider was on it. Across from me I saw Lysandra, her dark hair in curls, her eyes like an animals and she smirked at me. She was absolutely gorgeous and I could see why Aedion loved her. "I got you" she mouthed.
I felt the presence of Will beside me and I reached under the table to grasp his hand. He glimpses up at me, and I knew he understood, that I was sorry. I felt a zap as my hand was jerked away from his. I held it as it turned red and began to blister. I looked up to see none other than the Queen as she grinned at my discomfort.
At the Queens right was the night court, which was consisted of Rhysand and Feyre. Feyre gave me looks of pity and pleasure. Like she knew I deserved this but felt bad for me also. I couldn't blame her, I tried to sleep with her husband once.
"Shall we begin?" Harley asks.
"Yep!" Ansel screamed, only to result in everyone looking at her.
"I find Ianthe Quinnzell to be guilty for she has consistently begged to sleep with men, therefore it is not Wills thought since she became Fae," The Fae of the autumn court spoke.
"But she's not like that anymore!" Tank began only to be hushed.
"You don't have a say in this boy!"
"What do you think Lydia Branwell?" The Queen asks her with a grin. "Remember to answer wisely,"
"I think Ianthe and Will love each other therefore this trial isn't necessary," Lydia responded, her Chin up. She was poise and elegant, not a slither of doubt in her mind.
"Perhaps Will is the guilty one then," the Queen continued. "For isn't it treason for a Fae to turn a human?" She spoke a question that she knew the answer to.
"Perhaps But-" Lysandra begin.
"You will address me as "my Queen"" the Queen spoke only to have Lysandra growl.
"You are no Queen to me," she paused "besides, Ianthe is a Fae, therefore killing her would be killing one of your own," she paused "Oh! Isn't that considered treason?" Hearing Lysandra, on my side, restate the question she knew the answer to ,gave the technique a new feeling to me.
"And committing treason, would make you resign from your throne, therefore, do you really want to pose a death threat to them?" Lysandra spoke with a grin.
"Will has already committed treason," the Queen began.
"There is nothing we can do about it now, besides Ianthe seems content in being Fae," Rhysand spoke and Feyre nodded.
"All in agreement say I" Ansel spoke.
"You don't have the power to do that," Lysandra hissed But Ansel simply grinned.
"I" she screamed and everyone else followed.
The trial was over.
We were free.
I grasp Lysandra arm before she leaves.
"Thank you, I barley even know you and you saved me," I paused "how can I repay you?" And had a sly grin and I knew she wanted something.
"Just get me a date with Aedion And we'll call it even," I laughed. "What?" She asked confused.
"Girl you have no idea how crazy he is about you!" I left her in astonishment. Knowing Aedion was about to be the happiest person on earth.
A/N: thanks so much for reading! I love you all so much! Have a great day! :)
