Alright, so for the past couple of years, I've come across mentions of this thing called "Twisted Wonderland." I assumed that it was an otome game and then I found out that this was made by Disney, so then I was like "perhaps this isn't an otome game?" And then today, after finally being pushed too far, I am going to learn about this fandom.

Let's go!

Okay. So, firstly, I'd like to mention that all the information that I get is from this Wikipedia site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Twisted-Wonderland

Oh, and just for your understanding, I will be going through the Wikipedia page and will be paraphrasing and using some of the sentences from there. I would advice you to have the Wikipedia page side by side with this chapter page so you know where we're going.

Basically, I'll be reacting to everything as I read through the Wikipedia page.

Introduction

Alright, right off the bat, it says that the original plan, main script, and character design were in the charge of Yana Toboso, which, for those of you who do not know, is the creator of Black Butler. My GOD does this explain so much-

I mean that I've seen Twisted Wonderland characters before, though I still don't know their names, and their designs to vaguely remind me of Black Butler.

Apparently the characters are based off of Disney villains from various franchises, which is pretty cool. I know that one of the characters is based off of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, so I wonder who else will be there!

Gameplay

So, the game is described as, and I quote, "a Villains Academy ADV (adventure game)." I still think that it's similar to otome games though-

Apparently it has a "basic gameplay system" which to me, who has pretty much no gaming knowledge whatsoever, does not make ANY sense at all. What on Earth is a "basic gameplay system?"

This section of the page explained how the game worked, and I'll be honest. I just skimmed through most of this part because I didn't understand the majority of doohickeys explained.

Moving on to the next section!

Plot

So, the main character/protagonist, or the character that players play as is called "Yu," but they can change the name to whatever they desire. Apparently, Yu (or whatever the player has decided to name them) is summoned to another world (that's not a new one) by means of a magic mirror and they arrive at a magic training school known as the "Night Ravens College."

Now, the name of the school explained to me why some pictures that I had seen of the characters had them wearing extravagant hats with raven skulls on them. A bit morbid, but right up my alley.

(From this point on, I will be referring to Yu/player's character as simply "Yu.")

So basically, Yu gets taken in by the headmaster of the institute and though I don't know who the headmaster is, I think that they may play a more important role later on. Who knows?

Yu gets acquainted with the school's topmost students (because who else are they going to get acquainted with)? To top it all off, said topmost students belong to seven different dormitories.

That's a lot of dormitories if you ask me-

Oh, and Yu's still searching for a way home.

Characters

Now, here comes the fun part. My favorite part of ANY fandom.

Heartslabyul

How the heck does one say that?

Anyways, I think that this is supposed to be one of the houses? I'm still really caught up in how you're supposed to say it. The name's kind of growing on me as well.

So the first character in this (house?) is this dude called Riddle Rosehearts. He's a 17-year old sophomore who's also the Housewarden of Heartslabyul. His character is voiced by Natsuki Hanae and apparently he's so good at what he does that he got his title within the first week of attending the college. Dang-

He's a little too devoted to the Queen of Hearts' rules, and his character is actually based off of her so...

When I see his character design, I see that he's a bit childish in looks, but based off of his description, he's probably a little mad, cuz, you know-

Also, he kinda reminds my of Luke from Obey Me?

The next character in the list is Ace Trappola. Now, after reading his name, I do vaguely remember coming across him before on the internet.

He's voiced by Seiichiro Yamashita. Kid's a 16-year old freshman who is apparently one of the first friends Yu makes in the game (besides this other kid called Deuce.) So, Ace is a quick learner with an "upbeat" personality and a mischievous streak. I'm guessing he's going to look a little childish with tad bit of insanity?

After looking at pictures of him, I can say that my prediction was quite right.

Also, something tells me that he's one of the more popular characters-

Following Ace, there's Deuce Spade. I kinda of like his name, not gonna lie.

So far, each of the characters have had something to do some card suit and/or game. (I had to search what that meant).

Deuce is voiced Chiaki Kobayashi and is a 16-year old freshman. It was already mentioned with Ace that these two are one of the first friends that Yu makes upon entering the college. Spade's an earnest young man who enrolled at the institution with just one aim- to become a respectable mage. Pretty down to Earth if you ask me.

He seems to me like he might be my type, but keep in mind that the keyword is "might."

After seeing what he looks like, I have to admit, he looks pretty cool. I would fall for him, but I prefer someone more...ambitious.

HAVING SAID THAT, he's definitely a runner up of some sort.

Next up is Trey Clover. This guy's voiced by Ryota Suzuki (what a pretty name)! Trey is an 18-year old junior who is the Vice Housewarden of Heartslabyul.

I'd like to know why a "Vice Houswewarden" is required for a house which only has, hold on.

5!? 5 FREAKING STUDENTS-

THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE?

Okay, moving on. Apparently he's mild-mannered and for those of you who don't know what that means, it's basically a polite way of saying that this guy's pretty darn gentle. Doesn't show extreme emotions like anger and stuff on a regular basis (or ever).

So, I guess he's like the parental figure of the group, and after finishing reading the description of this character, I was right (what else is new)?

Trey's the one who has to, and I quote, "smooth things over when Riddle's strictness gets out of hand."

How bad is Riddle's rules exactly?

The final character in this house is Cater Diamond. I actually genuinely like their names, but I have to ask. Who names their kid "Cater?"

Anyways, he's voiced by Tatsuyuki Kobayashi. I noticed that Cater and Deuce have voice actors with the same (I'm guessing) surname?

I tried to see if Chiaki Kobayashi (Deuce) and Tatsuyuki Kobayashi (Cater) were related, but I couldn't find anything that didn't relate to their various roles.

Cater's also, like Trey, an 18-year old junior. Unlike Trey however, Cater Diamond is a character who is described as casual and carefree. Perhaps he's like Asmodeus from Obey Me?

Apparently he's an expert room-reader who often mediates between others. I think that he and Trey make good friends because one of them cleans up after the messes of others and the other mediates between others. Just a though, you know?

Diamond is a person who is always on top of the latest trends and is a "social media god," especially this social media platform called Magicam which is popular in the college.

Me assuming that he's quite like Asmodeus is really increasing right now-

Let me see what he looks like.

Savanaclaw

Okay, so this sounds pretty cool and kind of reminds me of Lion King. Perhaps the characters in this house are based on Scar?

Firstly, there is Leona Kingscholar, voiced by Yuichiro Umehara. I find his name fairly intriguing, I must admit.

Also, I was right that the characters in this house are based on Scar (and his hyenas apparently).

Leona is a 20-year old junior(!?) who is the Housewarden of Savanaclaw. Was this guy held back or something? He's described as "perpetually affort-averse" and I doubled over in laughter for a good minute after reading that. God my cheeks and stomach hurt.

So, like most other incredibly lazy characters, he's also super duper powerful (I'm talking about his "immense magical ability). I have no idea how he does in school though-

Oh, and dude's a second-born prince from his homeland (which isn't mentioned for some reason) and he treats everyone with an, and I quote, "impervious" attitude because of this.

I like how this guy thinks he can have an attitude problem just because he a second-born prince of some kingdom, like NO.

That ain't how life works sweetie.

He strikes me as one of those like muscular "bad boy" characters you would come across in fandoms such as this (games I mean). The only way I'll know for sure is if I see what he looks like.

Turns out it was just old Leona Kingscholar.

I just want to know what royal's surname is freaking "Kingscholar-"

Secondly, we have Jack Howl. I like his name. Period.

Jack is voiced by Taito Ban. It's said that he is a 16-year old freshman who is stern and focused on self-betterment. G̶o̶o̶d̶y̶ ̶t̶w̶o̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶e̶s̶-̶

He's just not like other kids because it displeases him to act "buddy-buddy" with others, HOWEVER, apparently he still respects the "pecking order."

So, Howl's got silver-grey hair, and somehow, I find it very fitting for him. I see that this house has got a lot of leather, tribal jewelry stuff going on. I kind of like it. It works for the theme, you know?

Lastly (!?) there is this guy called Ruggie Bucchi. I have no idea how to say his surname-

He's voiced by Aoi Ichikawa.

He's a 17-year old sophomore who spends the majority of his time cleaning up Leona's messes which-

Poor Ruggie was raised in a poor environment, so dude goes feral when he sees food.

I don't even know what he looks like, but I already know that if anything happens to him, I. WILL. THROW. HANDS.

Perhaps Adam Taylor from The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion?

So, I just skimmed through how many people are in this house, and like in Savanaclaw, there's only three people.

The characters in this house are designed after Ursula and her two eels (I'm super duper hyped now-)

Firstly, there is this guy called Azul Ashengrotto. I don't know what's going on with his name, but strangely, I like it.

He's voiced by Atsushi Tamaru. It says that he is a 17-year old sophomore and is the Housewarden of Octavinelle (stil ADORE the name)!

Ooooh, he runs a café! I like him quite a bit. And it says that the café is called Monstro Lounge.

I like this guy even more.

HE USES HIS CAFE TO GATHER INFORMATION IN ALL FORMS? HIS BENEVOLENT DEMEANOR BELIES AN EXTREMEMLY CALCULATING PERSONALITY??

Oh wait, Jade has a twin? His twin's name is Floyd! (phenomenxll- , wanna listen to Another Brick in the Wall with me)?

So, Jade seems pretty likeable. He's soft-spoken and courteous with everyone he deals with. Oh, and his character is inspired by Jetsam who is one of Ursula's eels!

The last on in this House Octavinelle is Floyd Leech who is voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto.

Floyd is the same age and year as his twin brother (and also Azul now that I think about it).

Floyd Leech is described as very unpredictable because of his mood swings. He likes to call others by fish related names. (That's actually pretty cool since I myself refer to people by animals I associate with them).

Oh, and he's inspired by Flotsam, Ursula's other eel!

I have a feeling that regarding his looks, he'll be very similar to his brother.

First up, we've got...Kalim Al-Asim! A 17-year old sophomore and Houswewarden of Scarabia! I̶s̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶r̶y̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶1̶7̶-̶y̶e̶a̶r̶ ̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶s̶o̶p̶h̶o̶m̶o̶r̶e̶s̶ ̶n̶o̶w̶?̶

Dude's voiced by Kazuki Furuta.

Apparently he was born into vast wealth l̶u̶c̶k̶y̶. BUT, he's actually pretty nice-seeming. He's described as a generous boy who always has a smile on his face. His childhood friend is Jamil, whom he considers, and I quote, "a brother in all but blood." I'm also guessing that Jamil is going to be introduced next.

As for what Kalim looks like...

He's also got a bit of a childish visage, and there's (obviously) a heavy Middle-Eastern influence on his clothing with heavy modern/creative influence. Pretty cool!

Oh, and Kalim is influenced by the Sultan from Aladdin.

Jamil is voiced by Kaname Futaba and is also a 17-year old sophomore (what a surprise)!

I REALLY DON'T GET WHY HE NEEDS TO BE A VICE HOUSEWARDEN IF THERE'S ONLY TWO FREAKING PEOPLE IN THE BLOODY HOUSE-

Vil's described as a young man of striking beauty and he considers himself the "fairest of all."

Wait. Is this house based off of the Evil Queen? OOOOH I'M REALLY HYPED NOW.

This is the kind of guy who will spare no effort (no effort is too big) for his unending pursuit of beauty.

I'm really curious as to what he looks like. Lemme just go and see him for a moment...

Next up is Epel Felmier (also a pretty name) and he's voiced by Shimba Tsuchiya. Now, Epel is a 16-year old freshman who is described as a dainty boy with ephemeral beauty. Now, this was a weird sentence to me, because if you know what ephemeral means, you'd know that it just doesn't seem to fit a member of this house.

He's also pretty quiet and gives off a mysterious air and does tend to distance himself from others "in his orbit."

Apparently, his name is a reference to the poisoned apple used to poison Snow White?

I really don't get that reference-

Now, as for his looks, I feel like he might look a little bit childish (in terms of visage), but the only way to know for sure is to see for myself!

I was kinda right? I mean, he does have this extremely youthful (like literally kiddish) kind of face, but it's also ethereal in a way?

Also, does everyone in this house have such graceful almost feminine-like beauty or something?

If so, where can I join this house?

OH WAIT, I GET HIS NAME NOW- (T̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶w̶a̶s̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶s̶u̶d̶d̶e̶n̶?̶ ̶W̶t̶f̶?̶) His name is "Epel" and if you say it out loud, it kinda sounds like "apple!"

The last person in this house is Rook Hunt. (I'm guessing he's based off of the Huntsman in the original story).

Rook Hunt is voiced by Yojiro Itokawa. He is an 18-year old junior and is the Vice Housewarden of Pomefiore (still LOVE that name). The Wikipedia page says that he is an "appreciator of sublime aesthetics" (as am I, but anyways) and that he holds both Vil and Epel's beauties in high regard.

Oh, and he's a bit difficult to read.

As I guessed before, he in fact is based off of the Huntsman from the original story.

(I'm lowkey excited to see how he looks because if Vil and Epel looked that level cool, imagine Rook!

Okay.

First of all, I was right. He looks extremely cool. LOVE his hairstyle-

Second of all, why do they all have this vampire aesthetic thing going on in some of the pictures?

Also, slight confession at this point of the learning about this fandom. I've already started reading fanfiction for Azul and this other character (who I'll mention once he comes up in the list) and I have no hecking regrets. L̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶l̶i̶t̶e̶r̶a̶l̶l̶y̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶o̶n̶l̶y̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶I̶'̶v̶e̶ ̶r̶e̶a̶d̶ ̶s̶i̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶f̶i̶r̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶r̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶p̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶A̶z̶u̶l̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶r̶a̶c̶t̶e̶r̶'̶s̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶f̶i̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶-̶

Because of this, I kinda already know the other characters at this point. But hey! I'll still continue with what I originally thought about them!

Firstly there Idia Shroud. Now, do you pronounce his name as "shroud" like "loud" or like "shrewd?" Either way, I like his name. Now, he is voiced by Koki Uchiyama and this house (which I forgot to mention earlier) is based off of Hades.

Now, the Wikipedia page doesn't have personal information about the characters after Ignihyde started, so I'll just let you know what I know about them so far. Because of this, I'll be referencing the Wiki page for this fandom as well as what I know from the fanfics I've read so far.

Now, based off of what I've read about Idia, he's a MAJOR otaku, and in my opinion, he's basically the Leviathan (from Obey Me) equivalent of Twisted Wonderland.

Idia is pretty closed off from society and has a bit of a dark outlook of life, but he is very passionate about his games and animes. I believe he's in a board game club or something and he plays with Azul. (I only vaguely know this because I've read about this in a few fanfics-)

As for his appearance, it's certainly one of my most favorite out of everyone, because haVE YOU SEEN HIS HAIR, LIKE OMG-

The next (and last person in the Ignihyde list) is Ortho Shroud who is Idia's brother. Now, I do want to say that I found out that this list only has the main characters of this fandom and that there are multiple other students in each of the houses.

Ortho is voiced by Shouta Aoi and he's Idia's younger brother. Did you know that the Shroud brothers are from some noble family or something and that Idia's supposed to inherit the family estate?

It kinda makes sense seeing as how they're all based on Hades who is quite the prominent Greek god.

The only things I know about Ortho's personality is the fact that he's much more outgoing than his brother and he often encourages him to open up more.

But that's about it.

Diasomnia

Yet another amazing house name. I gave up on how many of them I like because at this point, I like all of them.

Period.

Now, this house is based off of Maleficent (if you couldn't already tell by the name).

The first character is exactly the "other character" I've read fanfiction about now. It's...

Malleus Draconia! He's voiced by Kazuki Kato and I LOVE HIM. (Malleus I mean).

If you read the fanfiction about him, you'll know what I mean.

Now, Malleus is super tall (my short ass can't) and he's got horns and a tail! Most people are intimidated as hell by him, so they tend to stay away from him, but the truth is that he's a gentle giant. Think Mori from Ouran High School Host Club but change him up a bit to make him a Twisted Wonderland character.

Now, Malleus is one of the most powerful mages in the world (o̶f̶ ̶T̶w̶i̶s̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶W̶o̶n̶d̶e̶r̶l̶a̶n̶d̶-̶) and despite his "unapproachable demeanor," he's still well-respected on the campus.

Oh, and apparently he's a fae prince. H̶o̶w̶ ̶f̶r̶e̶a̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶o̶o̶l̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶!̶?̶

Next up is Lilia Vanrouge, voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa.

Now, I know from the fanfics that I've read that Lilia has known Malleus since he was a kid (I don't know the dragon equivalent or fae-prince equivalent of child so bear with me) and that he's one of his retainers.

Because of this, I assumed that he was a bit more strict and honestly, I just assumed he was like Trey Clover.

How wrong I was.

Lilia looks much like a child which I find funny because he's much older than Malleus (and Malleus has got a number of years on him) but he even has a slightly mischievous side to him that matches how he looks.

Like, the first time I saw him, I honestly thought that he was a girl. But then I found at that Night Raven College is boys-only...

Even still, I get old-man energy from him in pretty much all of the fanfics I've read where he's shown up-

Also, he's a bat?

Like I think he can shapeshift into one?

Silver. Now what do I say about this guy?

Firstly, he's voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki.

Secondly, I've come across him in the fanfics.

And either he's always sleeping.

Or he's on the verge of sleeping.

I assume he's got silver hair or something? He does! Also, I've heard that he's good with animals? He and I would make good friends I believe.

ALSO. I don't know if I've mentioned this already, but why does the Diasomnia hat look like a really edgy flight attendant hat?

Honestly, out of everyone in the house, Sebek strikes me as the most flight-attendant worthy.

Now, I've already become well acquainted with the staff of the college (blame the hundreds of fanfics I've already read-), so, I'll just zoom through the teachers. Capisce?

Dire Crowley - Voiced by Mitsuru Miyamoto

A bird brain that pushes all of his responsibilities onto poor poor Yuu.

Oh and he's the freaking headmaster of the place-

Grim - Voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama

A capricious "tanuki-like creature" whose sole existence is to be Yuu's companion during their stay at Twisted Wonderland AND to make said stay as miserable as possible because they are the definition of "trouble."

Divus Crewel - Voiced by Kent Ito

Easily one of my most favorite staff a̶n̶d̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶C̶r̶u̶e̶l̶l̶a̶-̶

He's the alchemy teacher and he's said to be very strict. Obviously, he has a love for fashion.

Mozus Trein - Voiced by Rikiya Koyama

The magic history teacher at Night Raven College. Also very strict.

Owner of Mr. S's Mystery Shop at the college.
