I Forced Another Friend to do a Ship Ranking Tier
12/01/2022 -
I forced another one of my friends to try this ship ranking tier~
He is currently being held captive against his will, but that's alright. He'll live.
Now, in this chapter, unlike the last one where I did this with my friend, I'm going to include his conversation (thoughts and comments) for each and every ship.
Oh, and for future chapters (including this one), my friend shall be referred to as Rook Turner.
Without further ado, let us begin~

Actually Doesn't Care x Cares Too Much - Fun
It really depends on how much they don't care about the other person. So, I guess it could be fun.
Example: I don't know
Anger Problems x A Literal Sunshine - THIS IS IT
When there are two opposites, they tend to work pretty well together. They somehow mesh really well together and tend to learn a lot from each other as well.
Example: Beauty and the Beast from Disney
Badass Couple - THIS IS IT
Either goes for really good heroes or really good villains, and they seem like a really fire couple.
Example: Gamora and Starlord from Guardians of the Galaxy
"Best Friends" with Sus Behavior - Yummy ships
The couple has something together, and it's pretty playful a lot of the times, and sometimes, they're childhood friends (which is always a win-win).
Example: Takagi and Nishikata from Teasing Master Takagi-San
Big Soft x Soft Scary - Fun
Simply because there's a part that can be seen as a whole "don't judge a book by it's cover" dynamic. The absurdity of seeing is as it's not common is rather fun.
Example: Taiga and Ryuji Toradora!
Big Scary x Small Soft - Yummy ships
So, the big scary has the ability to protect the mall soft, and the small soft accounts for taming the big scary. Some people need a small soft to tame their inner beast, as they require a shit ton of help with that.
Example: Goblin Slayer?
Bully x Bullied - Not for me
It depends on the severity of the bullying as well as the actual circumstances of the bullying. If it's light teasing, it's fine, but if it's an onslaught of bullying, it's not nice.
Example: Nishimiya and Ishida from Koe no Katachi
Celebrity x Fan - Yummy ships
The fan gets to date the celebrity they really like, and the celebrity gets to feel genuinely appreciated. Furthermore, both parties learn more about one another, as well as having two different worlds merge together. Especially if the celebrity is super rich and the fan is broke as heck.
Example: (Vera's addition to the example is famous boy-band fanfics-) Misa Amane and Light Yagami from Death Note?
Childhood Friends Who Meet Again Years Later - THIS IS IT
It's the same explanation with "best friends" with sus behavior. This is because they have an unparalleled understanding of one another. Also, because sus behavior can be included in this.
Example: Sayori and MC from Doki Doki Literature Club
Coworkers - Yummy ships
They have a lot of stress from work and they have one another to let loose (aka, friends with benefits). [I swear to God, I don't know what the hell my friend is on to be given the coworkers ship, and then turn it into friends with benefits].
They aren't awkward with each other, since they could possibly be really good friends.
Example: (Vera's addition to the example is Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku~)
Criminal x Cop - This ain't it
It depends on the criminal. What if the criminal was one ugly bastard? If they weren't, it might actually work.
Angel x Demon - THIS IS IT
It's the beauty of opposites attract, and the best of both worlds. It may sound weird, but it has a sort of yin and yang balance. Like, the demon isn't all bad, and the angel isn't all good.
Domestic Couple - THIS IS IT
I give up trying to paraphrase this man's words for this one-
Energetic x Soft for It - Yummy ships
There's a lot of admiration involved, and there's this feeling of appreciation and being appreciated, thus energizing the couple even more. Sort of like batteries for one another.
Exes That Still Have Feelings for Each Other - Not for me
It's really sad, but it could work. However, it's still really sad. And the core point of breaking up is to move on. There's no need to second guess your decisions for this kind of stuff.
Flirt x Naive - THIS IS IT
They don't usually get it, but once they get it, they tend to be very flustered, and it's just a great trope overall. With the flirt, they try to be smooth, but when the flirtation flies over the naive's head, they kind of die a little on the inside. The naive on the other hand just doesn't get shit.
Flirt x Flustered - Fun
I think it's fun, because it's not that fire, just casually funny.
Good But Actually Evil x Evil But Actually Good - Yummy ships
Not really a common occurrence, but yummy, because they both show their hidden characters.
Gush About Their Crushes But End Up in Love - Fun
It's somewhere in between fun and not for me. Like, it's a random occurrence how these people are talking to one another about their crushes and then they just fall in love? Not that nice, but I suppose it's fun.
Any Height Difference - Yummy
SO many occasions where the two can interact based off this trope. Like, they're either laughing about it, fighting about it, or teasing one another about it. Plus, it challenges the couple to adjust for each other.
Hero x Villain - Yummy
It's a very interesting turn of events, because you have the protagonist and the antagonist, but they're in love~
The Idiot Couple - Yummy
They're both idiots, but it makes for good comedy (although predictable). It's not that fun, but it's alright because one idiot understands the other idiot.
*Rook was originally going to sort this in fun, but then changed it into yummy as soon as he remembered Kaguya-sama: Love is War-
Lovers to Rivals but Still Lovers - Yummy
There is a certain tension, but it keeps things *spicy* between the couple. (Rook's words, not mine). It's not the most raging fire, but it's still there. They're constantly trying to dominate one another, so that's nice. (Once again, his words, not mine).
Mentor x Student - Fun
It's fun, but usually tragic. (Rook's reasoning:) This is because the master may be teaching their student Shaolin martial arts, and more often than not, the master dies and it's tragic af.
Monster x Human - THIS IS IT
There's so many different way this trope can be fantastical, and it's also unorthodox, which is great! Whoever the monster is, they can use that to their relationship to spice up their relationship.
*Rook's thinking tentacles...
Think what you'd like with that information. I'm out of here, that's all.
Nerd x Jock - THIS IS IT
Because we have the opposite ends of the spectrum in the relationship. It's fun because they're quite opposite and they can explore each other's interests and grow with that.
Not Calm x Calm - Yummy
It's yummy because it's a duo that challenges one another to put up with each other, but still love each other.
*Rook thinks that he's calm, and I need y'all to let him know he's not-
He's trying to convince himself that he's calm, but like, it's so obvious that he's not-
-_-
Not Really Into Each Other But Then a Line is Crossed - Fun
In between Fun and Yummy, because it could go one of two ways. One, they could just end up leaving each other entirely, or, the could end up together and have a happily ever after.
Obsessed With One Thing - Not For Me
Neither I nor Rook know what this even means, so he'll just randomly sort it. It's going in Not for me, since I have no idea what it is.
Optimist x Pessimist - Fun
Because they balance each other out, though the optimist may change something about the pessimist. (Sounds like gaslighting to me Rook-) You need to lean towards optimism rather than pessimism when in a relationship.
OMG ROOK JUST SAID IT'S GASLIGHTING, BUT IN A GOOD WAY-
WHO IS THIS MAN-
I'M CONCERNED-
The world is cruel but beautiful...
*Rook forced me to put that quote because he's convinced that you guys would like it-
Also, I now know for a fact that Rook is an optimist.
The Perfect One x A Goblin - This ain't it
This ain't it unless the goblin is striving to become a better person for the perfect one.
Polyamory is the Answer - Not for me
It's not as bad as the goblin one, so I'm putting it in Not for me. It's perfectly fine as long as everyone treats each other well, but if there's malice, it's not nice.
In a lot of the shows I've seen, the people in the relationship tend to get competitive and want one person's attention more than the other, and this causes discord amongst themselves.
Popular x Loner - Yummy
The loner kinda feels really grateful some times since the popular one likes them. Plus, the popular person might find the loner really different and like someone to hug.
Because the loner sees the world in a completely different way than the popular one, and it's sort of eye-opening for each other once they get to know how the other one lives.
Rebel x Goody-Two-Shoes - THIS IS IT
Because the goody-two-shoes is taken to SO many extremes that they're not used to and yeeted out of their comfort zones because of the rebel's shenanigans.
Plus, the rebel also calms down their shenanigans a bit. They're not gremlins 24/7 after getting close with the good-two-shoes.
The relationship has color, and it's not bland.
It's also like a parent with a problem child.
*Rook just really likes this one, that much is obvious.
Reckless x The Mom of the Group - Yummy
Kinda like the same thing as the Rebel x Goody-Two-Shoes.
Rivals to Lovers - Yummy
I like it because there's this like challenge that they have to get over because they have this newfound connection with each other. They're coming to a sort of standpoint where one's ideals are overshadowed by the other's.
I'm imagining a person trying to overthrow an organization and then now, this person has fallen for one person in that organization, and then one day, one of them wins.
*Personally, my favorite.
Royalty x Peasant - Yummy
I like it. It's yummy. It's the same thing, they see the world in very different ways, and it's a challenge for them to get together. Like, the relationship is a hell of a challenge to get through, and it strengthens their bond.
It's like saying "Forbidden love? I call bs-"
Self-deprecating x Insistent - Fun
Whoever the self-deprecating one is, they've found someone to get them out of that loop. And that spiraling down like that isn't the answer.
Sensitive x Will Protect Them - Yummy
Because of course, one of them is the sword and shield for the other. And the one being protected would feel special since there's that one person who'll protect them no matter what and they know that they need that person.
*Rook's probably imagining a knight and a princess for this trope-
The couple that everyone lusts for - Yummy
There's a lot of "Ha! Look at us! Everyone simps for us~"
And it somewhat revolves around knowing that you're popular and that makes you feel good on the inside. It's pretty much cool kids being cool kids. It's pretty yummy.
Smart x Dumb - Fun
Whoever the smart one is, they're constantly putting up with the dumb one, and the dumb one is...well, they're trying.
It's rather romantic in it's own way. There's this one thing I read where the smart one makes an incentive for the dumb one in order to help them study better.
*Vera's not wondering what the incentive is, she's just going to look the other way. Bye suckers.
From enemy sides (Star-Crossed Lovers) - Yummy
In these kinds of stories, the couple has much to go through, and after it all, they have such a strong bond that when yet something else gets thrown their way, they just say, "Oh, we've been through hell. We'll live."
Stoic Goth x Comedy Relief - THIS IS IT
They're polar opposites, and opposites attract.
It's absolutely fun.
They're this duo that nobody expects to end up together, but they do. There's this tension between the two, but it suits them.
I suppose Wednesday and Enid fit into this category (Vera said screw canonical relationships). Contrast is a powerful thing in both art and relationships.
*Vera's thoughts - Have you guys seen that meme "Someone will die. Of fun!" This is them.
Sun x Moon (Polar Opposites) - THIS IS IT
It's the same explanation as the one above. *Contrast*
Trauma Brings Them Together - THIS IS IT
This is pretty wholesome. I think it's wholesome because the two build each other up, and that's always nice. You get to see the daily stuff and that it's not the end of the world because they have each other. It's uplifting in a way. There's a sense of gratitude and belongingness. The world keeps spinning.
Tries to Freak Them Out x Finds Everything Cute - Yummy
I haven't seen this a lot with main characters, though I have seen it with side characters. The one doing the freaking feels like they're failing their mission to freak the other one out, and the other one just finds everything so amazing about their partner.
Villain x Assistant - THIS IS IT
The villain may be having a hard time on their own, and the assistant can not only help them through assistant work, but also help them in other ways.
It's like they're against the world, but they still have each other and it's very romantic. For the assistant, there's a lot of loyalty and admiration involved, and for the villain, it's a sense of not being alone and that they have someone there for them.
Yandere x Anyone - Not for Me
It's a very different subject to go on, because it could be light, or it could be really dark, like sadist level shit. Like "I'll kidnap your friend if you don't talk to me, and they'll die." It's the definition of mania.
Everything about it is pretty concerning.
Like in real life, it's not good, but in a fictional setting, it's not that bad.
There's a guarantee that whoever the yandere is, they can be put into jail for quite some time and there's a lot of suffering involved.
Example: Miss Nagatoro
Thank you for reading this chapter! Rook is...weird as always, but he is really looking forward to your comments! (Also, he's going off on something about not being ordinary *rolls eyes*).
Rook will be featured more in future chapters, so please welcome him! (And by that I mean ignore him. He'll be fine).
