Robin and Aslan
When Ariette awoke the next morning, she realized that Dora had wrapped her arms around Ariette's her waist tightly. Her eyes were closed and wrinkled. With each passing moment, her grip grew tighter which meant she was having a nightmare.
"It's morning, Dora. Wake up. " said Ariette. Dora opened her eyes wide and looked at Ariette. Ariette said," Were you having a nightmare about that day?" Dora nodded. " But you are not alone anymore Dora, so no one shall ever beat you again. You should look at its bright side too."said Ariette. " You mean, I met you on that day isn't it?"asked Dora," but they will never leave me! They will even kill you to get me."
Late that morning, one of the squirrels informed Ariette that someone had come to meet her. Dora did not want to leave her alone, so she went with her. This time, it was the panther herself. Ariette was surprised why the squirrels did not get scared. As if she heard Ariette's thoughts, Robin said," I disguised myself. The squirrels are too foolish to see through disguises. Once I set up my own kingdom in Narnia, all such fools shall be either hanged, or banished."
"You shall never be able to set up a kingdom in my Father's land, you foul Panther." said a wild, deep voice. It was Aslan's. Ariette and Dora turned back to see Him standing behind them. He roared at Robin with anger. Robin roared back. " Aslan," said Robin," do not forget that I am your equal, even though I am the Queen of the dark. " The two children knew that the conversation was not a very pleasant one. " Robin, then you insist?" asked Aslan." Yes." replied Robin. " Then we shall finish the rest of our talk in the battlefield, the Evening Moon's Alley?" said Aslan. Robin nodded and left.
At last, Aslan seemed to notice the two children. Ariette could not help but ask," Sire, why do you want to fight with Robin and why do you say she has troubled you for long, when you have just met her today?" Ariette felt very guilty after asking this question.
Aslan sighed and began," Robin is my sister. We were born on the very same day, but I was born at dawn, while she was born at mid night. Towards the beginning of Father's reign, we used to stay together. Father had control over both here and hell. He divided his kingdom in two halves and gave one to each one of us. We all loved Robin very much, but she revolted against us. She would often launch attacks at us with her forces of hell. At last father banished her away from here, and she became the Queen of hell."
Ariette asked," Sire, do you want to have a battle against hell?" Aslan replied," Yes. You shall fight in my force. In fact, I want to make you my general." Ariette said," But Sir, I am not athletic, nor am I brave. Narnia shall lose if I were the general." Aslan replied in a quiet voice," Courage, dear heart." and disappeared, leaving the two children alone.
Ariette looked at Dora. She then thought to herself," I must speak to the King. Maybe Aslan made a mistake? No one would ever nominate a stupid girl like me as the general." But Ariette turned out to be wrong. The King confirmed what Aslan had said to be true.
When she returned, she saw Dora sitting in the corner of the table and crying. The younger squirrels tried to comfort her, though all their efforts were in vain, because of their rapid chattering which made all their words incoherent. Dora looked up to see Ariette. She then asked tearfully," So you are going right?" " Yes," replied Ariette," I cannot deny Aslan's orders. I must fight against Robin."
Dora did not speak anymore. She ran away towards their room and closed the door behind her. Ariette heard something made of glass break inside the room. Fearing that she was hurt, Ariette went inside the room. There was glass shattered all over the floor and Dora was sitting nearby. It was Ariette's favourite little glass bird that had broken.
"Please forgive me Miss Ariette," pleaded Dora," I did not do it intentionally, it was an accident. Please don't hurt me - " Dora was going to say something more, but Ariette held her in both arms. She rubbed their noses together and whispered ," It is okay, Dora. The bird was not as valuable as you are. Don't worry, no body shall hurt you anymore."
Ariette's eyes shone with unshed tears. She said," Dora, I want Narnia to be free, but at the same time, I want this danger to last forever! Because once Narnia is safe, I will return to Earth and maybe we will never meet again! I don't want to lose you Dora and go back to Nanny." Dora stared at Ariette intently and said," Miss Ariette, please don't be selfish because of me. Please save this noble land, and you shall be remembered as a hero in Narnia. " " Yes," said Ariette," I should not be selfish. Thank you Dora for reminding me. I shall fight and I will take you to Earth with me."
