Ariette sat up . She looked around her.  But she was taken aback immediately.  Where was she? She was not in the Evening Moon's Alley.  She felt two strong arms had grabbed hers. Ariette saw  that Dora was in the same situation, but she was not moving. Ariette had an odd feeling that Dora  had been sedated. Ariette began to struggle and overpower her captors. But they were too strong for her.

"Leave us!"she shrieked. Ariette heard  the men  speak but could not comprehend what they were saying. But Ariette was punched very hard on the face. Then she felt the men fling her inside a very claustrophobic place. Ariette shot a sideways glance at Dora but  saw that she was not there. Ariette touched her nose and saw that it was bleeding. One of the men said," Say good bye to your little friend forever pretty!" the man began to laugh maliciously," The King has offered a huge reward for catching hold of you two. "

It did not take Ariette even a minute to realize what the man was saying: they were in the prison. Ariette  lay still and strained her ears to listen. She heard the man speak again," The child is not causing much trouble. It is with the Daughter of Earth that I am worried about."

Late that night, Ariette heard screams coming from the prison cell next to hers. It was Dora. She was screaming out to Ariette for help. Most probably the captors were making her smell the jasmine flowers of the Garden of Eternal Sleep to sedate her. The screaming continued for a few minutes before it died down. Ariette tried to listen more, but everything was silent except the rhythmic beat if her heart and her breath. Ariette lay down on her back and began to cry out of guilt.

" Aslan would be angry upon me," thought she,"  I failed to fulfil my first duty. I could not protect Dora from all harms. Since I couldn't protect a child, I am sure that I would not be able to protect an entire land from an evil far  deadlier than I ever thought."

Ariette continued to weep but stopped upon hearing the sound of muffled footsteps. Ariette peeked out of the bars to see Robin, with her eyes glistening. Ariette turned her face away from the panther's.

"Who opened the portal of hell, Queen Robin?" asked Ariette between gasps. "It was not the girl, Human," said Robin," it was a boy.  The girl and the boy were playing, when the boy came across the portal. It had been blocked with stones for centuries. He removed the stones and freed all of us. I came out first and the boy realized that he had done something wrong. He ran away homeward and left the girl behind. I hid quickly and my comrades came out little by little. Few minutes later, the boy returned  with other people. He blamed the girl and said that she was a witch. The people began to beat her, and quite badly, I must add, because by the time they finished, she was barely moving and for once I thought that she was dead. But in a few moments she fled towards that place where we first  met , the Evening Moon's Alley, as you call it . It surely is a pretty place. "

Ariette listened what Robin was saying. " Your Majesty, please tell all this to the King too at the time of Dora's trial. Please Aslan would be angry upon me if anything happens to Dora."  Ariette begged. The Panther stared at Ariette angrily.

The Panther quietly slipped away. At this point, Ariette lost control over herself and did a very foolish thing indeed. She began to shake the bars of the prison cell and screamed out to the Panther," Please, come back." But the Panther was long out of sight.

Meanwhile, in the next cell, Dora was sitting with her head against the wall.  Her whole body was heavy and she heard Ariette screaming. However she could not recognise her voice. She knew that it was of someone familiar but she could not remember who. She did not try to remember either, the smell of the flowers seemed to be much more soothing. Slowly, she became sleepier and at last, her head reeled off the wall and she became unconscious.
