At The Castle

As the vague outline if Cair  Paravel became clearer, Ariette and Dora reached the end of their path through  the Garden of Eternal Sleep. Dora said,' Miss Ariette, I am so sorry.  I caused you so much trouble. Oh do let me down.' Ariette gladly lowered Dora from her back. 'How do you feel Dora? Are you still sleepy? asked Ariette. Dora shook her head. The two children held each other's hand and walked the rest of the path in silence.  Ariette decided to break it. ' Tell me more about the Evening Moon's Alley, Dora.' asked she. ' The Evening Moon's Alley is the only place in Narnia where  there is evening forever. The moon shines there brighter than in any place, and the alley is huge.' replied Dora. They talked of different things, such as how beautiful Narnia is and how they were more or less in the same situation at home.

At last they reached the gates if Cair Paravel. Ariette drew a deep breath in. Dora gripped her hand tightly. Then they walked into the castle and reached the King's court. The  court was crowded and a man was speaking to the King. Nobody saw the two children come in.

The man said,' Your Majesty, my daughter  Dora, has brought upon us the hundred year reign of evil forces. She has opened the portal of hell and the evil forces are pouring into this land.' Suddenly a wave if murmur rose through the court. Ariette saw Dora looking up at her. She was shaking with fear and it was clear from her eyes that she was requesting Ariette to have faith in her and not believe her father. The man continued,' Your Highness, I shall help you to imprison that sinner and I request you to hang her. I don't want a sinful creature in my family.' ' What a cruel man,' thought Ariette. She looked down to see Dora who was crying in fear and sadness.

' Hey Dora,' she whispered,' it's no use standing here. Let's go away and look for a place to stay ourselves.' Dora clung to Ariette as they left the castle. Just before they crossed the gate, Ariette heard another woman tell the King that Dora was with a Human child.  She was sure that Dora heard it too for she hung her head in shame.

Slowly with heavy steps, they walked away from Cair Paravel. Dora said,' Miss Ariette, please go back to Earth. Otherwise they will all imprison  you with me.' Ariette said in a  determined  tone,' Then I shall take you to Earth too. I have promised that I shall prove that you are innocent. I must keep my promise, otherwise Aslan's wrath shall be upon me.'

The two children had walked quite a long distance when Ariette felt as if her legs had become like jelly. 'Its probably from walking such a long  distance. ' concluded she. However Ariette was wrong. It was not long before Ariette realized that something was not right. She felt that they were going around the place in a circle and she realized that Dora was not there with her. She was all alone.

Ariette began searching for Dora. She started screaming out her name.  After screaming for several times, when Dora did not come, Ariette was heartbroken. She looked before her to see that she was standing in the middle of the Evening Moon's Alley. Right in front of her was her Bookshelf.

Suddenly, a voice called out to her. It seemed to come from underground, from the trees, from the sky and from the moon. It spoke in a musical voice.  It said,' Turn back and return Home, Daughter of Earth.' Ariette turned to see a black panther standing on top of a cliff. It was looking at her with its eyes glistening with cruelty. It was as black as night, and it's eyes seemed like a pair of emeralds shining in the moonlight. Ariette stood there on the spot, frozen. After she had gathered up some courage, Ariette said,' Where is Dora?' The Panther laughed.

'I am the Queen of the Land Beyond the Mountains.  My name is Robin and I have taken the small child with me.'said she. Ariette pleaded,' Oh Queen, please return Dora to me. She is an outcast and I must protect her from all fiends who want to hurt her.' The Panther smiled again. She said,' Is this what you seek, Daughter of Earth?' The Panther moved out of the way to reveal a scared and shaking Dora. Robin crouched on her forepaws and prepared to leapt off the cliff. Ariette said,' Oh Dora,  where  in the name of Aslan had you gone?' Upon hearing the word Aslan, Robin turned back. She looked at Ariette and said,'Remember.  I had warned you.'
