Ch.4 - A Dream About Tri?
Akæna~
Several hours had past and now we sat under the dark sky. Gray clouds covered the rising moon and dim stars.
I sighed, laid back, and stared up at the clouds with my cloak wrapped around me tightly. I was tired and scared and...
"Akæna?" A voice called out from close by.
"What do you want, Soran?" I asked in annoyance at the disturbance of the peaceful silence.
"How did you end up here?"
I was taken aback by his question and it took a dozen tries for me to speak, and when I did I couldn't help but sound rude. "Why do you care?"
"We all have been wondering how you got here... Would you care to tell?" Soran seemed submissive, as if begging or pleading for me to tell him.
I didn't have the energy to refuse so I just told him to wait until tomorrow and then I would tell him. He reluctantly agreed and left me alone to my thoughts.
I felt... Different with these people around. I felt... Safe with them and... Happy, for once.
I shook it off and rolled onto my side, tonight I would sleep outside, near their canvass thing.
As my vision began to dim I heard a muffled sound and a sharp clack before I was out.
------------|----{~Dream~}----|------------
I was alone in an empty field full of wildflowers and short grass that tickled my ankles. I looked up to see dark clouds gathered in the sky, a flash of light made me close my eyes. Thunder followed in pursuit.
A trumpet of panic entered my ears and I reopened my eyes only to see all the flowers wilt and die and the rain fall in giant globs. Blood formed a trail through the field like a trampled path.
I followed the path even though I felt like I should run away. Soon the path became wider and more blood made it up. I quickened my pace when another trumpet sounded, closer this time. Then I tripped and fell into a large crater, when I got back up I saw a tricerotops in the middle of the crater. His side was split open and one of his horns were missing. Blood pooled around him and I spotted something shining by his head. I crept foward in curiosity and realized it was a necklace, the string was made from leather and a white feather was hanging from it, two leather bows were on each side of the feather.
The necklace felt ancient as I picked it up, as soon as I touched it the tricerotops heaved his final breath and the light escaped his eyes. My heart clenched as I realized, from close up, that the tricerotops looked familiar but I couldn't place it so I turned my attention back to the necklace that was still in my grasp.
The feather seemed to glow in my palm and the bows looked to unty themselves. They danced around my head and the feather glowed brighter and started to float with them. I wanted to laugh, to join them, I felt like a little kid again, before coming here. But I couldn't as a familiar voice whispered.
"Look at the leather in your hands."
So I did and, to my astonishment, another bow was forming, one that held dried blood on it's surface.
"This is your family and close friends, Akæna, each bow represents a different member and friend that has died. New ones stay bloodied before turning like the ones around your head." I looked at the feather, the voice seemingly came from that white feather. And I couldn't place who's voice it was.
"Who are you?" I asked the voice before it could speak again. "And how do you know my name?"
"Oh, my dear, dear child, it pains my heart that you don't remember the one who had brought you into this world..." It seemed sad, depressed even.
I was confused now, that voice must've belonged to someone from my past, before I found this island.
"Akæna, come home..." Then everything turned black and I slipped into an unforgivable void of darkness.
It felt like death.
------------|----{~Awake~}----|------------
I woke more slowly than I would've liked and stretched, watching the Sun shine high in the sky- wait, what? If the Sun's that high then it must be...
"Noon!" I leapt out of my makeshift bed and dashed outside to see the others except two. Charles and Willie. "Where's the others?!"
"Calm down, sheesh, they just went to get lunch." Zenix answered me as everyone stared at me in confusion.
"They can't hunt alone! Ugh! My head..." As soon as I came outside my head had started hurting like someone had hit it several times with an ankylisaurus' clubbed tail.
"Are you ok?" Chris asked as he stood up to help me take a seat.
"I... I don't know..." Was all I could answer with my head burning all my thoughts. I let him help me sit and I rubbed my head to help fight the pain. "Ow..."
"What're you 'ow'ing for?" Mikado asked as he scooted closer to take a look at me.
"Nothing..."
"Don't say that! It's not nothing!"
"Fine... My head hurts..."
