Monks And Monkeys
Tails, Buddhist monks, Monkeys and other tales.
A Buddhist monk ~ a monk that had dedicated his or her entire life to practice the Philosophy of Buddha.
He must celibate and live according to vinaya pitakaya and refrain from exploring carnal happiness.
A monkey {rilaw} ~ A wild beast. Low key has genetic ties with humans. In literature used as a symbol of sex-starved perverts. Can be found in Sri Lanka. In a pack of monkeys, the male babies are killed by the leader of the pack by ripping their genitals off because only the leader can have his ways with the ladies in the pack. 😬
Tail ~ could be a symbolic meaning to a manhood in literature. {not that common though}
What made me type out this write up was a conversation I had with one of my sister-in-laws recently. We were just talking about random topics this one day and somehow she brought up an incident that her younger brother encountered this one day when he and his friends went to check up on the Monk {Loku hamuduruvo if you will!} of their "Game Pansala". And as far as I can call back my memory they were working on some sort of a "Thorana" on the other end of the temple, away from the "Monks" room till late at night that day. And when they were about to leave they saw the light in the "Monk's" room and decided to go talk to him before leaving.
And once they were there the monk had not even opened the door and had asked them to leave. But as the boys insisted that they wanted to talk to him and "vadala yanna" the monk had reluctantly opened the door. And after a couple of minutes or so they have heard the ceiling cracking, someone falling and a woman screaming.
~😑should I say more?😑~
Even though these things happened "yatagiya dawasa" things like this happen all the time. And the irony that slaps us in the face is, "monks like this asking us to behave according to "Pansil". In the very same way how they want a luxury car to come to the "Dane" and then go preaching about "simplicity" and "giving up".
Believe me when I say that they are not monks but monkeys!
Recently someone shared a link to a WhatsApp group that I'm in about the hazards of "Masturbating" which included the impacts of the aforesaid act in both "melowa" and "paralowa" lives of the doer. {BTW May is the international month of Masturbating. They will never ask about it in your general knowledge exam but no harm in knowing right?}
And one of them was being born a "male monkey" in their next life as a punishment. I don't know what is the scientific backing of this and at the same time, I'm not sure if Lord Budda really perched such a thing. And also the said punishment was only there for men that take part in "self-gratification" and not women. So yeah...<an awkward silence>
I recently saw a "Health" book in Sri Lanka victim-blaming and considering Sri Lanka is a country that does not have sexED it does not even surprise me. I don't even need to tell you the role Buddhist monks played in banning the first-ever sexED book as they thought it would ruin the "so-called age-old culture in our country".
When it comes to that so-called "Sadacharaya" and "Sanscruthiya" all I got to say is that Buddhist monks back in the day that wrote "Sandesha Kavya" wrote about sexy women being a little too intricate about their boobs. And the vast majority of Sinhala Buddhist women back in the day, {if you take a look at women in Sigiriya, Lovena or literally every statue or painting of a lower caste woman} did not wear upper garments.
So there is that.........
And buried by the " news media drama overload" there lays that "once went viral" news of the young monks that got raped by the "Loku Hamuduruwo" of the temple. And no matter what there are school children {from all types of schools regardless of the reputation} that go to rooms and stuff and refraining them from sexED is causing them more harm than good, if there is any harm in educating them in the first place.
So my tale comes to an end with that and if you got any feel free to share it in the comments...
