Chapter 10: Subjugation
We've been on this plane for hours and have already had our one stop for fuel.
"Are we there yet?" I asked for probably the 50th time since I got on the plane.
"Nope, still 2 more hours of flight till we land." Thomas said looking down at his watch. Fabian was sitting next to me, yet again fixated by his phone which he was relentlessly tapping. I sighed deciding it will just be better to take a nap before the over head speak popped to life.
"We have entered marked airspace so please stay in the close to the seating area of the plane for your own safety." The mans voice was deep and clear but was clipped off the moment he cut the speaker.
I closed my eye's allowing sleep to drift over me even though underneath me the world of the mad was very awake.
"Wake up princess, we're here." I opened my eyes feeling the familiarity of Fabian's arms supporting my weight while being suspended in air. I looked around me confused, we seemed to be in some sort of room. I struggled in Fabians grip but he managed to keep a hold of me,
"How rude you're not even going to thank me for carrying you?" Fabian laughed darkly.
"Put me down Fabian." I looked into his eyes and as always they were dancing, almost delighted that I said his name.
He was like a dog that had been hailed for his treat. "Sure."
Air rushed from underneath me and seconds later I hit the plush mattress that I didn't realize was below me till now. "Where are we?" Fabian began undoing his tie and taking off his suit jacket.
"We are in our Hokkaido vacation home." My eyes widened.
"Where's father?" Fabian walked out the room peering at me with a side glance and a slight grin.
"Fabian!" He never answered me so I got up and followed after him. The walls were painted a tan color and everything gave off a really warm vibe. I walked out the bedroom straight into a hallway that led to a passage of stairs.
Once downstairs I was in a grand living space that had a waterfall in the middle of the room like a pillar. I walked over to the dining room finding a large antique wood table; that could feed at least 10 people comfortably, it was positioned in front of an indoor pond with a mini waterfall similar to the one in the living room.
There were many large windows, but at the moment the shutters were closed so I couldn't tell exactly what time it was. I walked into the kitchen to find Fabian taking things out of the fridge, "Hungry?" He asked while his back was still turned before he stood up straight to look at me.
"Where is Thomas?" Fabian grinned and turned completely toward me resting his elbows on the huge counter top that separated us by at least 4 to 5 feet.
"He's not here, and won't be here anytime soon." I did everything in my power to keep my face straight but the slight panic of being left alone with Fabian was setting in.
"I thou-"
"You thought we would be with my father getting in the way of his work-huh, jokes on you. My father is all the way in Kyoto in our white palace home, which is where he will be holding a conference meeting with a few large names. While on the other hand we; in Hokkaido, are going to be having some long awaited fun." Fabian was grinning from ear to ear and I think I paled even more than normal.
"I don't think I am very hungry." I said while backing up from where I stood and Fabian's eye's turned to slits.
"Don't make me shove food down your throat, come over here and eat. I swear I won't touch you."
I felt slightly relieved but at the same time I didn't want to trust him.
"If you do not come over here I will be forced to touch you." I looked at him warily before just giving in because I knew I couldn't win not against him. I walked over to him and sat in one of the counters chairs and watched as he made a turkey sandwich for both of us. I was amazed he could even make that much, he slid my plate over to me then went into the cabinets pulling out a bag of plain chips and ripped it open to pour out onto our plates.
Fabian ate quickly and left me alone to go back upstairs, there was no conversation between us beside's him telling me to eat.
I became curious and decided to explore the house some more after I washed the dishes. I walked into the living room and through one of the doors finding myself in an indoor pool area, there was even a hot tub on the far side of the room. I walked through the far side exit of the pool area to find myself in a greenhouse and I could finally see the outside.
There was at least seven feet of snow on the other side of that window and it was night time. There was a doorway with no door and a flight of stairs that led down into the house, and I was hesitant to go because it was pitch black besides for the moonlight that was pouring through the windows.
I stood in front of the door way wanting to know what was down there, but was too scared to go through. I turned around and went back upstairs to find Fabian.
When I got to the room, the lights were off and Fabian was in the bed snoozing away. I saw my bag inside the bathroom and decided to draw a bath. Once bathed and clothed I came back in the room to see Fabian in the same place I left him. I wondered if I should find another bedroom to sleep in but then thought against it and slid in the bed with him.
It's not like we haven't done this before.
I laid my head on my pillow looking at Fabian's sleeping face, his lips were slightly parted and protruding almost like a child's. His hair was spread out over his pillow and his forehead, his eyelashes were unbelievably long and somehow he managed to still hold his charming looks even when his guard was down. It made me giggle.
I reached my hand out to brush the hair from his forehead and his eyes snapped open as he pinned my arms to the bed and a maddening snare had replaced his once angelic face. "Fabian!"
His eye's widened and his face softened. "I am sorry, you surprised me." He released my wrists and pulled me to a sitting position to examine my wrists, which were slightly red from his squeeze.
"I am so very sorry my little tree nymph, it seems I have hurt you." He kissed both my wrists and rubbed them to his cheeks like I was both fragile and precious, it made my cheeks heat so I pulled my hands from his grip. He was pouting and looked clearly ashamed of himself.
"I'll go sleep on the couch." He began to get up, but I pulled him back down.
"It is fine... I am okay... I-I was just embarrassed is all." Fabian looked me over as if needing further reassurance, so I slowly began extending my hand toward the wild exotic tangles of his blonde hair. I gently wound my fingers into the strands and smoothed them out as I went along. Barely noticing I was becoming enveloped in the smell of his earthy scented shampoo.
"Just kiss me already." It was almost as if he were reading my thoughts.
I jumped noticing our closeness from the volume of the tantalizingly deep bass of his voice almost directly in my ear. His mischievous eyes danced with humor as he watched me try to launch myself away from him yet again.
"Even that was almost a little too much to bare at my current level of restraint little one." He snickered letting the words roll off his tongue and flashed another one of his signature Cheshire cat like smiles. I felt myself go rigid almost as if frozen in fear like a deer in the headlights of a luxury vehicle racing directly toward me. Only to see the car seconds later bursting into hysterical laughter, which made me unbelievably ticked.
"Please enlighten me and explain what is so funny this time?" I slapped his chest in slight protest; and on what seemed like pure reflex, I was in the arms of the chuckling cat yet again.
I began flailing at him attempting to flee from his hold. He chuckled clearly impressed with my will to defy him and swiftly swung me over his shoulder. I felt the panic slowly set in and noticed even with my arms extended I barely could reach his thigh.
How ridiculously big is this maniacal kitty?
"You really need to learn to relax my little tree nymph, you looked kinda stiff back there." I huffed and began to see we were in the pool area and headed toward the far side of the room where the greenhouse resided.
The dread I was beginning to feel was indescribable.
This man is going to be the death of me.
"Fabian Vector if you do not release me-" I felt a sharp pain as Fabian placed a light rap on my bum. The shock took the fight right on out of me as we became encircled in darkness.
"Now-now my feisty little nymph we are almost there." I was dead silent, listening intently to the sound of his footsteps and feeling the motions of us slowly declining into the depths of the darkness. I felt a small chill run down my spine from the sound of my own heart beat thundering in my eardrums.
The darkness began to stir and with it came the howling of a very intrigued man. "Ohs what's this?" My whole world halted, and I was being dragged off the top of the mountain in which I once resided.
It's alright I'm okay it's alright.
"Is this little one scared of the dark?"
Fudge.
I felt the corners of my mouth drop, but I refused to seem weak.
"I certainly am not." I said attempting to graze pass him to keep declining into the darkness, but Fabian stood solid as the wall... In fact, I began frantically patting to find my hands touching what felt like solid bedrock. I froze and slowly turned my head no longer even smelling the slight hints of Fabian's signature earthy cologne.
This man truly is Cheshire cat in the flesh.
My feet began tapping the stairs gaining a rhythmical tune while descending further into the night with melodic percussion for sound, drowning out my thundering pulse.
After about 3 minutes of cautiously tapping stairs, the flat even surface of the floor greeted me and I almost wanted to cry in victory.
"Well done my little tree nymph" I snapped my neck toward the sound of his voice behind me.
"Ho-" two very sharp clicking sounds cut me off and everywhere was illuminated in bright warm light showing the full extent of how attached to the wall I truly was.
My cheeks lit a flame as Fabian roared. "You tried." Fabian briskly passed me; still chuckling and reached into one of the holes in the rocky wall pulling out what looked to be a bottle of expensive wine. The irony almost killed me.
A wine cellar. Of course it was a bloody wine cellar.
"Rice wine, grape wine, white, maybe red? Any preference little nymph?" His green eyes were mocking me as he smugly asked for my opinion.
"I don't drink." The statement seemed to insult him.
"What do you mean don't drink?" I scoffed right back at him.
"Exactly as I said Fabian, I'm not of age so I do not drink for sport." Clearly not buying it he strode two long strides til he stood towering over me in all his glory.
"For sport?"
I attempted to protest to be silenced as he lazily placed the nozzle of the white sake bottle to my lips. "Meaning you have tasted the poison spirits before my little tree nymph." I brushed the bottle from my lips.
"Of course I have; as future queen I've had to do many wine tastings in my trainin-" My ears exploded with sound as he swiftly popped the cork and the sweet aroma of the wine mixed in the air. He lifted the bottle taking a whole mouthful and swallowed it with ease.
"You see my little nymph I don't quite care for a sermon. Go on not drinking unless someone tells you to taste boring wines. I just thought to have a little fun because sake goes well with the current environment." Taking another swig of the bottle and snapping his fingers twice swiftly I was once again surrounded in darkness.
I sighed feeling upset. This is supposed to be a vacation before the big ball with our mother whisking me around every which way for our wedding after all.
Suddenly; like a bag of bricks falling from thin air to my mind, the heavy realization that I'll be marrying this man set in.
Who says we can't have a little fun... Plus it never hurts to see how well your future husband can hold his liquor...
I snapped my fingers twice admiring the space as the lights gave it its warm glow. To my surprise it was almost majestic. As if I was inside a meteor made of the ancient of geodes.
I randomly stuck my hand into one of the crevices across the one from which Fabian had chosen and made my way up the stairs. To my surprise Fabian was sitting peacefully on a bench in the greenroom waiting for me to emerge.
His lean body laid back lackadaisically as he sipped from his stone shot glass. "Ah has my little tree nymph found her favorite brand of holy water." His green eyes danced a taunting dance.
I slowly examined him finally and truly taking in his features and intimidating aura. All of him was beautiful as it was fearsome, his presence commanded power as much as it assured safety. I may have been the queen in the room but there was no doubt this man commanded as king on someone's throne.
His gaze shifted curiously toward me clearly noticing I was giving him a look over. To my surprise, he didn't boast in fact he sat back and eased his commanding air to more of a welcoming one by giving me a small smile and staring at the space beside him.
He can be a gentleman.
I sat beside him without hesitation or much thought. The feeling of his eyes on my face made me turn toward him, watching as his green eyes grazed over me.
"Okay, I got the bottle now what?" Fabian chuckled lowly and reached beside him where he grabbed a wineglass out of what seemed like a mini cooler. He handed me the chilled glass then continued to down his shot glass full of rice wine.
"Why did you try to attack me when I attempted to fix your hair earlier?" His relaxed poise became rigid. "I didn't mean to-" Fabian brushed his thumb over my lips.
"I know you didn't, but-" He paused sighing gruffly and lowering his hand. "This world isn't what you think it is Ambrosia." My name fell like velvet off his lips and it left me stunned.
"My life has always been and will always be dedicated to keeping you safe. I apologize, I will try not to frighten you like that again my little tree nymph." My spell instantly came undone at the mention of my pet name and it must've made me visibly displeased, allowing his mischievous smile to returned.
"May I?" Fabian asked.
"May you what?" Fabian chuckled yet again.
"T'was a yes or no question my little tree nymph." I raised my brow, challenging him.
"No, it's a you tell me what you want and I give you my answer scenario." He giggled playfully now his eyes forming a seductive gaze.
"Guess that's a no then." He said as he downed yet another shot of his sake, and like just that I found myself indulging in Fabian's games.
"Well, I guess you'll never know unless you find the balls to ask the proper question. Right sir chow-chow?" Fabian let out uncharacteristically sharp snort, clearly taking the blow to his ego before chuckling lowly gaining him a whole new air.
He was wicked now, whatever he held from me earlier came full circle and showed no signs of leaving. I was playing with the blazes of Fabian's flames and was determined to walk through it barefoot, while extinguishing his heat with my own.
"Careful little nymph I hear wood burns quite well in fire." He held my gaze while the corners of his mouth were lifted ruefully. I lazily reached out my hand taking his now full shot glass and downed it.
"Hmm. That's true, but it's always shame that the flame never reaches our roots." I grabbed his sake bottle helping myself to another glass, feeling the warm trail of his eyes following my every move. "After all that smoke and noise the fire goes out, but the tree regrows. Can't say the same for kittens now can you sir chow-chow."
The smile on his face was the genuine pride in knowing I was truly challenging him as my equal. His eyes softened locking with mine as he gently took his shot glass from my hand.
He leaned his face closer to mine to the point I could smell the sweet liquor blowing off in wafts with the mint from his breath. He began shifting closer and our breathing mingled syncing together. I don't know if it was the liquor heightening my senses or the fact that he was so close it was maddening, but either way my guard was down and Fabian Vector was the center of my focus.
"Checkmate." Fabian shifted away from me and took the wineglass from my hand, I was beyond stunned as he began pouring the deep red wine that was behind me.
"Did you just..." He smiled coyly sipping the luxurious red letting it stain his lips.
"You see Ambrosia. I love you more than I am willing to let you know at the moment." He stared at me and once again leaned in close enough for me to taste him. Whatever guard I had up became wrecked by his words.
"You are more precious to me than life itself, and more beautiful than anything on this land." He lifted my chin holding it in place even though I was practically quivering in his touch. He examined me as if he were a jeweler examining the carats in diamond, slowly and purely in awe.
"Unfortunately for you my little nymph." His lips brushed my ear as his voice vibrated through my being sending waves of heat to places I didn't know could burn.
It frightened me. He held me firmly in place ignoring my slight protest as he chuckled in a whole new velvet vibrato, slowly sliding his finger from the back of my neck to the curve in my hips.
"There is no need to fear me yet my little tree nymph. I am more than patient enough to see you mature further before tempting in your nectar." His lips brushed the nape of my neck after he pulled me in til I was on his lap.
"Though, if you feel the need to dance within my fires again little one." He gripped both my thighs pulling me in til my hips were flush with his.
"All you gotta do is ask." He rose with me yet again in his arms and he released me onto the day bed in which we sat before leaving me cold and alone.
My body felt foreign as if I were nothing but a puppet to Fabian Vector's personal set of strings, pushing and pulling me to his ways. My legs lost their strength but my spirit was ablaze.
I will tame that man no matter the cost.
But one thing was for sure.
Fabian Vector has won for today.
I picked up the wine bottle in which sealed my loss and began chugging its contents. Settling in on the daybed for the night, because there was no way I was sleeping with Fabian Vector tonight.
