"She was beautiful" I read

I noticed that Bethy wasn't paying attention any longer.

"Bethany pay attention this reading is important to me remember" I poured

"Sorry Lina it's just have you seen Jesse" she asked

"Your brother?" I asked

"Yes whom else is named such?" She asked

"Right sorry Bethy" I said

"So have you seen him?" She asked

"No he ran off when I asked him to be my parapatai" I said and kept reading

"Oh Trinity I apologize for my brother" she said

I began to tear up, but instantly whipped it away. Shadowhunters aren't supposed to have well show emotions.

"It's just I felt the connection and I know he does too, but he just ran off without a signal word" I said

Then closed my book and using magic to put it back on the shelf. It didn't phase me much anymore. The use of magic and my other abilities. Those around me on the other hand. It scared them at times especially when angry. Jesse on the other hand understood. He understands how to calm me down and keep me grounded.

He wasn't an anchor my mom explained that to me. Even at twelve I understand the intensity of a parapatai. I was born a shadowhunters, I've had wolves help me with control. I've had warlocks teach me magic for my warlock side. Killer breed as they call me, I prefer downworlder shadow warrior better. Strongest of my kind and well only born of my kind.

Another was created, he's a young child but I don't like him. It's a long story but Gabriel isn't a good child. He throws tantrums and causes too much chaos. Idris is too much for the young child I know it now. I'm too of my class in fighting, runes, healing. Teachings of all different kinds I've aced them all. Jesse is a year younger than me which is why it's harder.

I have to wait until he's twelve and I'm thirteen which is soon. I decided to ask him to be my parapatai now. This way he has time to decided if he wants to or not. Bethy told me he feels the strong bond with me. He already has his first rune and he hasn't answered me. It worried my that my wanted to be parapatai. He has long fled and no longer trusts me.

"Lina" his voice filled my ears

"Jj" I said looking in his direction

"Yes, yes I want to be your parapatai" he said

I rushed to him and hugged the younger boy. I spun him around and grabbed his hand.

"Where we going?" He asked

I pulled up my dress skirt with one hand and held his with the other. I looked at him briefly and smiled widely. Me and Jesse would be the second known pair of parapatai ever. My father and his parapatai being the first in history.

"To tell our mum and dad of course" I giggled

"Off we go future parapatai" he laughed

We watched as the mark glowed and faded with the end of the oath. I hugged my close friend and brother. My young parapatai and my best side kick ever.

"Congratulations" everyone said

"I'm so glad we're parapatai" Jesse said

"Me too jj" I smiled and hugged him

You see the parapatai bond is anything but romantic. You feel a close brother to sister bond or brother to brother bond. Or also in some cases sister to sister bond. You love them and treat them like family. You love them but not in a romantic kind of way. It's forbidden to romantically love your parapatai.

It's a good thing I only see him as a little brother to me. Because like I said romantic relationships with your parapatai is forbidden. This was one of the happiest days of my life. We were going to start more training together.

Another thing about having a parapatai. Your only aloud one in your entire life. It's mainly because connecting with a different person. It's like abandoning your first parapatai. When your parapatai dies it's like part of you dies too. Your bonded for life so they die part of you dies too. I hear it's excruciating to have to experience.

I'm the oldest Shadowhunter in my family out of my siblings. Yes trust me I know the last name confused lots. Because our kind being named the shadowhunters and my last name shadowhunter. I have a younger brother and sister their twins. Exactly the same except ones a boy and ones a girl. Tyler and Kelly polar opposite's, but their twins none the less.

"Come on focus Jesse" I say as he misses the punch

Then I lost step and he swiped under me and I fell.

"Hah you lost focus parapatai" he says

Then I quickly swooped him causing him to fall beside me.

"Young parapatai you shouldn't be cocky" I smiled and got up

I reached my hand down and helped him off the ground.

"Break you two" my mum said

"Mum has father come home from London?" I asked

"Not yet" I hear from the other side of the room

I dropped my weapon and ran for my father.

"Papa" I said jumping into his arms

He spun me around and hugged me tightly.

"My young warrior" he said and kissed my cheek

"Tell me all about your adventures" I said

"Come for lunch and I'll tell you all about it" he says
