Chapter 3: new faces
Fi looked at these people and saw that they each bore similar expression of curiosity and skepticism for Ashei's case. Fi shakes hands with all of them. Then Ashei speaks up and says "Hey there, Fi. I'm Ashei. I come from the mountains up north from here, where my father trained me in the ways of the sword, as if I was his son. However, etiquette wasn't part of his lesson plan, so I apologize if I come off as a bit rude". "Yeah... a bit rude!" the older man responds. "Don't you mind her. By the way, I go by Auru. I have lived most of my life around lake Hylia, and I also have known many people in my time. So, if there's anything you need help with when it comes to people, just ask me" he finishes. "Well, we can start with the people outside who almost tripped trying to run from me" Fi says, then chuckles loudly with most of the others. I cannot believe I am thinking something is humorous! she thought, which made her laugh even more. "Well, they warm up very slowly around new people, you know, most city-livers are" Ashei said matter-of-factly. Fi then walked over to the man in the leather helmet. "...Hello, Fi. I am Rusl. I come from the Ordona province, just outside of Hyrule's border lines." The man says dryly, attempting to not make eye contact. "Come on, Rusl. This girl's had a bad day, at least try to be welcoming" Telma said from behind as she took orders for some people who came in while Fi was conversing. "Oh, all right!" Rusl said, lifting up his helmet for the first time. He had light, auburn hair, green eyes, and a rectangular face with a stern, but friendly, expression. "Sorry about all the secrecy, but I promised my wife not to worry about me, so I put on the helmet to keep from other people recognizing me" He assured her. "Oh, I don't mind at all" Fi says to him. Then, she goes straight to the scholar, who had his nose stuck in a book during the whole conversation. Ashei bumps him in the shoulder, "what is it, Ashei?" he asks, at which Ashei pointed towards Fi, who waves at him. "Oh, right. Of course" he said, then clears his throat and finishes "I am Shad, I am a researcher and the group historian. Although I don't have... how you say... physical attributes, I do have a high volume of information. So if you need to know anything about Hyrule history or legend, you can always rely on me". She looked at him and stared for several seconds, that is until Shad says "um, Fi, are you alright?". Fi suddenly jerks up and says "Oh, uh, yes... I am" very surprisingly. After talking with them for several minutes, mostly about where she originally came from (leaving out master Link, the master sword, the triforce, skyloft, Demise and everything associated with him), Telma eventually went up to the group and said "well, I think it's time for me and Fi to go get some shut-eye, and it's time for you guys to get going.". Then, as if by some magic word Telma said in that phrase, everyone in the group got out of their seats, said their goodbyes (Fi and Shad's the longest), and left one by one. Telma then looked at Fi and said "here, I'll show you where you'll be sleeping tonight". Then, Telma directs Fi to the door Telma entered before, where they walk past a small kitchen (which was probably where Fi's soup was made), and go up a flight of steps. Upon making it to the top, they come across a hallway with two doors on one side, and a single door on the other. "I sleep in that room" Telma said, pointing towards the single door. "And your room is the farthest door from the right". "Okay" Fi said, walking down the hallway. "Oh, and if you need anything at all, Fi, don't be afraid to ask me. I will always be there for you." Telma says, smiling once more. Fi twists her hand to open the door, and enters her room. It was a medium-sized room with a small bed to the left and the vanity with a mirror on the right. A window was overlooking the city outside. Fi looked at bed with drooped, heavy eyes, and noticed that she felt very weary. She stumbled over to the bed, then flopped right onto it, with her arms and legs spread out. This must be what my master was doing when he lays in one of these Fi thinks as she quickly drifts asleep...
After two or three hours passed, Fi woke up to find the moon still in the sky outside. Not tired anymore, she lays there and thinks to herself.
Why is this happening she starts
I have never laughed at a joke in my life
I have never felt hunger in my life
...I have never felt anything in my life.
Was this Hylia's reward? To be cold, hungry, tired, and without a sense of where I even am? That was a very great gift, Hylia, real real wonderful!... did I just use sarcasm! By the goddess, it's getting worse !
She then looked up and thought I might actually be thinking about this the wrong way. "Think on the positive side" as master Link says all the time. Well, for starters, I've starting to get a group of friends for once. I think that's what they are called... friends. Also, I think that their is a 70% possibility that they might be able to help me in the long run...
Now THAT sounds like the old me...
... but what are the NEW me's attributes?...
Well, I warm up to people easily, I am a fast learner, most people see me as cheery but shy. I am good at being myself around people I'm familiar with.
That seems to be the new me. It is my... personality, I presume. Yes, personality, that has a nice ring to it. Fi has heard that word before, when her master and her were exploring Eldin volcano and she tried to re-explain the concept of dowsing to him. He then turned to look at her, hushed her, then said "Fi, why don't you be quiet and gain a personality for once!" then continued adventuring. He was always talking to Fi like that when they were still together, but Fi knew he meant well.
Well Fi thought, as you requested... I have and smiled at her own thoughts, then went back to sleep in no time flat.
