Chapter 42
"So, what's the plan for the next attack?" Hayden asked, swirling around the cereal in his bowl with his spoon. He leaned back into his chair and sighed.
"I was thinking we could attack another smaller base," Shian suggested.
"That sounds good," Beatrix replied.
"Yep, let's do that," Sadie added.
"Okay, what's with the lack of enthusiasm today?" Shian asked, slamming his fist down in the table, "You're all acting like we didn't just win a battle, and that this is the most boring thing in the world. I want you people to be at least vaguely interested right now, because this is important, these plans could save Palasia from Kalina destroying it! And you're all just like 'I don't care'. Well guess what, you better start caring, or we will never win this war."
"Woah, calm down, Shian," Beatrix said.
"Yeah, we're just all tired that's it," Sadie said, "We did kind of attack that base in the middle of the night last night, I barely got three hours of sleep."
"Ok, fine, as long as you all promise to care," Shian said.
"We do care," Hayden said.
"Ok, well, continue with your breakfast," Shian said. He stood up and walked over to the couch. He sat down and leaned against the back. He took a deep breath and signed. He thought that maybe he was overreacting about this, but this was all of his responsibility. If something went wrong and they didn't win, he would be the one responsible for Palasia falling. He was in charge of the army that was going to defeat Kalina, even if there only was a few of them in the army. He needed to make sure that Palasia won out against Kalina. And he knew that they would.
Sadie walked over and sat down next to him. "Are you feeling okay?" She asked, her voice full of concern.
"Yeah, just the whole responsibility of this army kind of making me feel pressured," he said.
"It's okay, you have me," Sadie said, kissing his cheek, "And I've thought about it, and yes I will truly be your girlfriend."
"I really like you," he smiled, kissing her on the cheek.
"I really like you too," she said, leaning on his shoulder, "And I hope this pressure won't get to you."
"I'll try not to let it," Shian smiled.
"Maybe after this war and everything is settled, you should come live in town with us," Sadie said with a smile, "You can go to school with us and hang out with us. The only problem would be finding you a place to live, but I'm sure my parents might take you in. They've already done that with one of my siblings, why not to you."
"I like that plan," he said, "And I also like this version of less sassy Sadie."
"Oh, don't worry, sassy Sadie will be back any minute now," she laughed. Her eyes sparkled as she did and Shian leaned over and kissed her cheek. "What was that for?' She asked.
"It's because I love it when you laugh," he smiled. Then Beatrix and Hayden came walking over.
"Okay, two things," Beatrix said, "One, you guys are really loud and we can hear you from the kitchen and you're conversation was very, how do I say it, interesting? And two, do we sound this stupid when we're talking to each other?"
"That is a sorry to number one and a yes to number two," Sadie laughed.
"At least we're more private than you two," Hayden added, "Ever heard of a fireproof chamber that's also sound proof? It's a good place for when you're in this mood."
"Thanks for the advice," Shian said, "And sometimes, you're not very private."
"Well-" Sadie was interrupted by a knock on the door. "I'll get the door," she said. She walked over to the door and opened it. There stood none other than Daniel. "Get out of here," Sadie said between clenched teeth.
"Not before I do this," he said. There was a flash of blinding light in Sadie's eyes, and then darkness as she fell to the floor.
A/N oh no, what's going to happen with Sadie! It's question time!
Do any of the character's names mean anything?
Nope, their just kind of random names that I came up with.
Remember to ask questions and thanks for reading!
