Chapter 38
"Beatrix!" Hayden screamed. He rushed over to her side. Her face was slowly growing sickly pale. He held her hand, it felt cold and frail.
"Hayden," Beatrix choked out. Pain was searing up her thigh. She could feel her heart slowly slowing, her brain slowly dying, and her vision slowly fading.
"I love you," he cried, kissing her softly on the lips. Tears welled in his eyes. Shian and Sadei were also tearing up as well.
"I love you," she croaked out. Tears began streaming down his and her face.
"Can you help her?!" Hayden yelled at Shian.
"Uh, maybe, but I've never done this before," he said, "She could die through the spell."
"Well, she's going to die anyway without the spell," Hayden said, "I'll kill myself if she doesn't make it because we didn't take a chance."
"Ok," Shian said. He walked over to Beatrix's side and placed his hands on her stomach. Her breathing was getting more shallow by the second, Shian didn't have much time. Power surged through his hands and into Beatrix's dying body. Blue light surrounded Beatrix, flashes of light danced across her skin. Her eyes slowly started to close and her breathing started to stop. Shian took his hands off of her.
"Is that it?" Hayden asked, "Is she gone?"
"Yes," Shian said solemnly. Hayden looked at Beatrix's body. Frail and pale. He held her hand, it was limp. He kissed her one last time. He wrapped his arms around her and cried.
He cried that he would never see her again. He cried that he could never see her smile. He cried that he would never see her happy. He cried that he would never hear her laugh. He cried that he could never feel her kiss. He cried that he could never hear her say "I love you" in that sweet voice of hers. He cried that she was gone.
Tears streamed down his faces like waterfalls, dripping all over her face and clothes. Her face looked sad, but still beautiful with her gorgeous brown hair with the blond ends. Her smoothly sloped nose. Her long beautiful eyelashes. Her flawless light skin. Her delicate, sweet lips. He kissed her one last time. "I love you," he whispered into her ear, thinking that she would never hear those words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Beatrix's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darkness enveloped me, but I could still feel the sharp, stabbing pain in my thigh. I tried to move but I couldn't. But I could feel. I could fell warm, muscular arms around me. Tears falling on me. A soft kiss on my lips. The words "I love you," whispered into my ear and I knew it was Hayden. Hayden was doing these things.
"I love you," I tried to say back, but my mouth didn't move and no sound came out. I tried to move my arms to hug him back, but nothing. I tried to open my eyes, but they wouldn't budge. I felt more tears. More weeps of sorrow. And I knew I had to get up. Tell Hayden that I'm still hear. "I'm alive," I tried to call out to him. No words. I needed to break out. But I couldn't.
I felt so alone, just me and the darkness. I then saw a blinding light. "Come," the light called.
"No," I replied. I then fought against the darkness. I tried moving my arms over and over, trying to open my eyes as well. Then my arms moved.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Back to normal stuff~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hayden still had his arms around Beatrix, still sobbing. "Hayden, let it go, she's gone," Sadie tried to comfort him. The words ran through his head. She's gone. But she can't be. They had to stay together, they had to defeat Kalina, they had to stay in love, she needed to still be best friends with Sadie. She needed to do all these things. She was too young.
Hayden rested his head on her shoulder. Then the unexpected happened. Hayden could feel Beatrix's arms wrap around him. Shian and Sadie stood shell shocked and happily surprised. Beatrix's eyes slowly fluttered open. "Did you miss me," she smirked.
"Don't ever do that again!" I yelled, picking her up and twirling her around in the air, planting a kiss on her lips.
"I'll try not to," Beatrix smiled.
"I love you," he said, kissing her again.
"I love you too," she replied, "And we're feeling very affectionate I see as well."
"Well," Hayden blushed.
"She's right," Sadie said, "I've had enough of this. My best friend isn't dead, let me have a turn." Hayden let Bearrix go and she ran over and hugged Sadie.
"How did you do that?" Shian asked.
"I fought the darkness and didn't give into the light," Beatrix smiled, "Now give me a hug, wizard boy." She gave Shian a quick hug and went over to Hayden.
"So we just had our first battle, now what?" Hayden asked.
"Now," Shian started, "The war has officially begun."
A/N ha, I scared some of you for a second, didn't I?😋 anyway, question time!
Do you have a favorite character?
I think so. I think my favorite is Sadie, because she's sassy. And also Beatrix's best friend. And just is cool. So yeah.
