Sadie looked at the little shack. It was dirty and just looked like a bunch of pieces of wood nailed together to make a structure. It's roof was sheet metal nailed to the wood. It looked moldy and damp and not appealing to even just be near. "This is where Hayden is," she said.
"Maybe. Possibly," Daniel said, wrapping his arms around her. Her heart fluttered and she leaned back into him. He was almost too good to be true.
"Well, what do we do, just barge inside?" Beatrix asked.
"Well, we have no better plan, do we?" Shian answered.
"Good point," Beatrix replied.
"Well, let's go," Sadie said. They walked slowly to the door and opened it. It creaked as it shut behind them and shook the shack as it closed. They saw a bed with a severely bent and dented metal frame with a dark figure resting in the sheets. The figure turned over and moaned a weak sound.
"Kalina, don't hurt me I've done nothing wrong," the figure said weakly out into the darkness. It was unmistakably Hayden.
Beatrix took in a sharp breath. "Hayden, it's us," she said, "We're here to rescue you."
"No!" He exclaimed, "Leave, I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"Hayden, what do you mean get hurt?" Sadie asked.
"Kalina, this was her plan," he said, "You would come rescue me and-"
"Well, well, well, it looks like we have visitors," Kalina cut off, walking out into the faint light inside the shed, "Sorry I didn't clean up. I wasn't expecting guests."
"Kalina," Shian muttered with disgust.
"Why hello Shian, it's nice to see you too," she said, walking over to him, "And I see you brought the whole squad. And oh look, my old friend Daniel. I see you've done your work."
"What?" Sadie exclaimed.
"I'm so sorry you had to find out this way, I really like you but I was sent to help you guys by Kalina. I was sent as a spy," Daniel said tracing his finger down her face.
"Don't touch me, you liar!" She yelled, pushing him away.
"Oh, so this is the feisty little Sadie," Kalina said, walking over to her, "I heard you were so fiery that I sent you that little burn. I thought it would fit your personality. Daniel has talked much about you."
"I bet he has," she muttered, glaring at him. He mouthed to her 'I'm sorry' but she just shook her head. Her burn may heal, but that cut was just too deep.
"What do you want, Kalina?!" Beatrix yelled.
"Oh, I almost forgot about you," Kalina said, striding over to her, "I hope you enjoyed my little cut. I bet it didn't hurt as much as this." She stepped aside and gestured to Hayden. "Why don't you show your friends your little scars from acting out. Then they'll know never to disagree with me. Hayden has learned that the hard way," she said. Hayden slowly stood up and limped into the light. His face was covered with bloody scratches and his clothes were torn to shreds. He had bruises all over his body and had some nasty cuts on his arms and legs. It was too much for Beatrix to handle and she fainted.
"Beatrix!" Hayden yelled, limping quickly to her side. He sat down next to her and caressed her hair. She slowly came to.
"Hayden," she murmured, "Hayden!" She jumped up and wrapped her arms around him. He winced from the pain of her touching old scars but pushed the pain down. His love was here.
"I'm so sorry you have to see me like this," he said, rubbing her cheek. Her eyes started to well with tears.
"Hayden," she said, "I love you and am so sorry that Kalina is this mean and-"
"Okay, enough with the lovey dovey stuff," Kalina said breaking them apart, "We have business to do. Guards!" A wave of men covered with armor walked out and seized each of them, except for Daniel and Kalina.
"Let Sadie go," he said, "I'll take care of her."
"Fine," Kalina said, "Release her." The guards took off their grip on her and threw her to Daniel and grabbed her and embraced her, but she pushed him off.
"I said don't touch me," she muttered.
"Please let me explain-"
"No need to explain. You've already made a cut," she said. Tears started to well up in her eyes. Her friends were being captured and the person she still honestly loved was against her. But still he tried to make it seem like he didn't lie.
"Take them to base two," Kalina said, "And make these two go with them." The guards dragged the five of them off into a black van and drove off to mysterious base two.
