Shian started walking over to Sadie. She was really excited to start training! She wanted to know how to use her powers. Sadie, once she heard about the prophecy and met Queen Charasia, really wanted to help Palasia and save it. She took a deep breath as Shian got to her.
"Hello Shian. I'm ready to start training!" Sadie said excitedly.
"Well, before you begin, I need you to clear your mind. Think black. Dark, black and dead." Shian said.
Sadie shuddered and said, "Ok." She cleared her mind after at least ten minutes, "I'm ready." She said.
"Ok, now look at the grave and think the word 'awaken' over and over." Shian said.
"Ok," Sadie replied. She stared at the grave, repeating 'awaken' in her head over and over just as Shian said. After a few minutes, a shadow began erupting from the grave.
"Keep thinking 'awaken'!" Shian said. Sadie did that. Soon, the shadow began to look like a figure. It was a shorter girl with long dark hair. "Now, stop thinking awaken and tell it to do something in your mind." Shian said. Sadie started thinking 'run to the left' and the shadow did that. "Good job!" Shian congratulated. "Usually it takes people a few times to make them do something. Now let's try the ashes."
"Sounds good." Sadie said.
"Do exactly as before, and it should work. Don't be worried if it takes longer, ashes are harder to awaken." Shian said. Sadie cleared her mind again. She looked at the pot and thought 'awaken'. It took ten minutes for the shadow to finally start erupting from the pot. It looked like an older version of Shian. She then told it to 'jump' when it was fully formed. The shadow left ten feet into the air and came back down.
"Amazing!" Sadie said.
"Yeah, it's pretty cool. To make them go back to their graves and pots say 'return'." Shian said. Sadie did that and the shadows returned to their original places. "Good job! I'll leave you to working on that." He said, starting to leave.
"Not so fast," Sadie said with a mischievous grin, "I've been sort of interested in your crush. Do you still like her even though you know she likes Hayden?"
Shian started to look angry, "Let's not talk about this, Sadie. You need to train." He said.
"Fine, but you will give me an answer later." She said.
"No I won't!" Shian yelled back to her. Sadie could tell he was uncomfortable with talking about it. Sadie liked making people feel uncomfortable. There was no doubt that she wanted to make him confess. Even if it meant annoying him for a long time. She thought that Shian and Beatrix would be sort of cute together, but Hayden and Beatrix was even cuter. Then she started thinking about ship names for them. Maybe Haytrix? She thought.
"Hey, Sadie! Get off your lazy butt and get to work!" Shian yelled.
"Yeah, whatever." Sadie thought. She got up and started practicing, but she couldn't focus. She started thinking about how Shian felt about Hayden and Beatrix. He was probably really upset, most likely pretty mad. She may like making people feel uncomfortable, but she doesn't like people being upset. She shrugged it off and started to really focus on her work. Then, a loud voice came into her head.
"You are worthless," it said, "I will defeat you and your little friends. It doesn't matter anything that you're thinking anymore. You will never be good enough. You will always be useless and meaningless. Nobody cares about you. You don't matter." Sadie's mind and vision went black and she crumpled to the ground.
