Beatrix wakes up on a Thursady morning, at least thirty minutes later than normal. Beatrix is normally an early waker and it was 7. She really doesn't have to get up for another thirty minutes, but she gets up anyway. She glances in the mirror and yawns. Her brown hair with bleached ends is sticking up all over the place. There is a drop of drool dripping down her chin and she wipes it off with her hand. She gets up and walks over to the closet and picks out her outfit. A pair of white shorts and a light shirt. She pulls them on and walks into the kitchen and grabs some granola and fruit. She eats it and glances at the clock. 8:00. She washes out her bowl and heads outside. She locks the door behind her and starts walking to school.

A few minutes later, she gets to school. She spots Hayden and Sadie talking by the door. "Sadie! Hayden!" She yells. She runs over to them.

"Hey, Beatrix." Hayden greets her. He smiles at her and looks back to Sadie, who is telling another story about her guinea pigs. They always seem to do the craziest things. Today, it is about how one sat on the other.

"That's insane." Beatrix says to Sadie. They laugh and the bell rings. They walk to their home room, they all have the same one. They sit down in their seats, all next to each other. Right as the bell is about to ring again, a new kid comes into the room. He's wearing a black hoodie and black jeans. He has jet black hair and pale skin. Our homeroom advisor smiles and says, "Class, please welcome Shian. He is new to our school. Please give him a warm welcome. Now, Shian, choose your seat." He looks around. There are about six empty seats from kids leaving before school has ended for vacation. It's almost summer, so Beatrix is confused on why he is coming this late. Then it hits her. He's gorgeous. His skin looks so smooth and he just looks amazing. She sighs happily and whispers to Sadie, "Isn't he cute?"

She nods, but then whispers back, "He's not really my type though." Beatrix looks back at Shian. He then looks at her, and the seat next to her, that is empty. He walks up to that seat and sits down. "Hi," he whispers to Beatrix,

"Hi," she says, trying to hold in her blushing.

"I heard what you were whispering to Sadie." He says. Beatrix is shocked.

"How do you know Sadie's name? And how did you hear us?" She asked quietly.

"Well, when I came to the office, they sbowed me a picture of Sadie and said that she's a very peppy and good person for me to learn about the school from." He replies, "Oh, and also magic." He winks at her and then looks back at the advisor.

"No new announcements for me to make, just tonight is the end of the year dance and tomorrow is the last day of school. Have fun in your classes and remember during fourth period there is a water balloon fight outside on the field for those who wish to join." The advisor says. She smiles warmly and the bell rings. Hayden, Beatrix, and Sadie get up and Beatrix tells Shian to come with them, because she looked at his schedule and it was coordinated with theirs.

"So, what's your name?" Shian asks Beatrix.

"Beatrice. But call me Beatrix." She says.

"Beatrix, what a beautiful name," he says. She giggles happily and Shian chuckles.

"What are you doing to her!" Hayden suddenly announces.

"Are you her boyfriend? If so I'm so sor-"

"No, I'm her friend and I've never seen her like this before." Hayden says, interrupting Shian, obviously nervous.

"Calm down, Hayden. I just think he's sorta, you know, cute." Beatrix says while punching Hayden in the arm playfully. Hayden laughs stiffly but smiles. Sadie gives him a confused glance, but they continue on.

Eventually, they get into their next class and hear a balloon pop.
