Chapter Fourteen
Alright, who's ready to read about Ebony dying? Let's go on an adventure, my lovely readers!
Chapter Fourteen: Treating A Wolf Pup
Point of View: Phoebe
I come in to see Aroen sitting up in bed and holding Ebony close.
I drop all the food and scream, running over to my wolf. "What happened?" Tears stream down my face.
"Get Lady Artemis." Aroen sounds strangled.
I nod and streak out of the tent, darting for the dining tent. "Lady Artemis!"
She smiles over at me, but it slowly drops as she sees my expression. "What is the matter, Phoebe?" She rises from her seat.
"I don't know. Ebony is hurt." I tell her.
We both rush back to her tent and find Aroen trying to inspect the wounds on his son's torso.
"There is so much poison still left over." Aroen says and holds Ebony down on the bed so he doesn't hurt himself.
Artemis goes over and hisses. "No, that is not poison. Atalanta cleaned it out. That is the venom Lycaon uses to change his wolves. It is deadly to Ebony. He must have released it into Ebony's system without any of us noticing. But his claws cannot do that. Is Ebony bitten?" She checks all over until she lifts up his head and pulls on the collar of his shirt, gasping at the bite mark on the place where neck meets shoulder. She lays his head back down and gets his eyes to flutter open by calling, "Ebony, wake up, sweetie."
"Lady Artemis." He breathes.
"Oh my gods." I come over and take one of his little hands in both of mine. "Ebony."
Point of View: Ebony
"Phoebe." I whisper.
"Why didn't you tell anybody that Lycaon bit you?" Artemis demands.
"Bit me?" I am confused.
"Right here, Ebony." I feel Phoebe press down on something, wincing when she comes into contact with it.
"He didn't bite me." I mumble. "I didn't get scratched there by him. It was that big wolf dad killed."
"Why didn't you say anything?" Artemis questions.
"I thought he scratched me." I murmur.
"Son, I want you to listen to me." I hear my father.
"What is it?" I reply.
"How bad does it hurt?" He asks.
"It isn't the bite, it is Lycaon's claws." I answer. "I cannot feel the bite unless you touch it."
"He is resisting the venom, then." Artemis informs them and I feel her light touch where the mark is. "Look," She breathes. "The venom is receding little by little."
"What does that mean?" Phoebe inquires.
"The reason he isn't healing here," Artemis gestures at my midsection. "Is because he is fighting the venom. I suppose that is why he is so tired. He is stopping something that our wolves consider nearly fatal. Just stay with him and he should be fine. Unfortunately, his growing process will halt for now until he is healed completely. It is one of the...benefits of the time you spend with him. In case a wolf was hurt, they wouldn't move on because their time wasn't spent with their Hunt Sister. He needs to rest." She kisses my forehead before leaving.
I watch as Phoebe sits down in her chair again, but when Aroen lays down and lets me lay against him, my eyes slide closed. I can still be with my Phoebe when I am better again. I have to get better. But I am so tired. Sleep.
'Change.' A voice growls.
Hehehe! See ya soon, my lovely readers!
