Chapter Twenty-Two, Pack Discussions
Chapter Twenty-Two, Pack Discussions
Previously on The Wolf's Major:
Margot was left reeling at the obnoxious behaviour coming from Charlie's daughter, Isabella, who was complaining to Jessica Stanely and Lauren Mallory (the rudest girl she has had the displeasure to ever meet and the daughter of the barrister who defended HIM) at a lunch table, about how her father (she even had the audacity to call Charlie by his given name) had Margot decorate her room and it was disgusting with neutral colour scheme the only colour being her purple bedding and a ridiculous hanging chair. Unfortunately, Margot had joined the lunch line to get a salad, some fruit, and some water (having forgotten her own lunch at home) at that moment and could hear them – and she didn't need her wolf hearing to hear them as they spoke loud enough it was unmissable.
"Oh Bella, I'm so sorry." The two supposed IT girls commiserate with her. "She always seemed like she had better taste. I mean look at the way she dresses." Jessica sighed, shaking her head in disappointment.
"I'm not surprised." Lauren scoffed, rolling her eyes. "She did have a child from her supposed rapist, dating Jasper Hale who only graduated last December and is now four months pregnant with his baby. Is that even legal?"
"What seriously?" Bella asked in disgust. "That's disgusting! I'll talk to Charlie about it later."
"I actually think it was really nice that she did that for you Bella." Angela, sweet Angela, interrupted whatever the trio were going to say next.
"She didn't have to do that, she could have told your father no and yet she did that for you on her day off, so I really think you should be grateful instead of being ungrateful and slagging her off. And for your information, it is in fact legal as he was one not a student, and two they are the same age." She shook her head at them and got up ignoring them as she left, only pausing to apologise to Margot on her way out of the cafeteria.
"Who are they?" Margot heard Bella asking as she nodded towards where Alice and Edward just entered the cafeteria. Emmett and Rosalie had graduated in June. Rosalie actually worked at the same garage as Paul and Emmett worked at the logging mill, neither of them wanted to repeat college or university after all of the times they have already repeated it.
"Just great." Margot sighed. "Just great." She swiped her work pass and paid for her lunch before leaving the cafeteria, fully intending to have her lunch in the classroom with Eva but the looks passed between Edward and Isabella left her feeling unsettled. She shared a look with Alice as she left; both of them knew this was only the beginning and nothing would ever be the same again. Whipping out her phone she called Sam, they needed to have a pack meeting tonight with Jasper, Alice, Claire, Rose and Emmett present while Esme and Carlisle spoke to Edward, as something was waiting in the wings if those looks were anything to go by; they needed to stop it now!

Chapter Twenty-Two, Pack Discussions
Margot sighed with relief when the school day finally ended, she felt incredibly drained, but she knew that her day was far from over due to the meeting she had called. The minute she had left the cafeteria, Margot had called Sam who agreed with her that they needed to talk about this and had promised to let the Elders know the meeting would be held at her house. After they had bid bye for now, Margot had used the group chat she had created for the pack and let them know followed by texting Alice, Rose and Emmett inviting them to her house for the meeting as well.
She had also texted Claire, but the petite brunette had replied that she would stay home to help talk some sense into Edward and to stop Carlisle and Esme from giving in to Edward. As she walked down the steps into the car park, Margot could feel eyes fixed on her and instantly knew that it was Isabella Swan. Ever since lunch no matter where she went she could feel the new girl's eyes fixed upon her – and she didn't need Jasper's gift to know that she was glaring at her in disgust – Alice had also stated in a text that Isabella would constantly stare at her and Edward as well; and was rather unnerved by it all.
A very familiar rumble pulled Margot out of her thoughts as Baby pulled into the car park pulling a smile to her lips at the sight of her beloved car she shared with her twin, who stepped out of the driver's side wearing the shirt she had brought him, rather proudly displaying that he was going to be an uncle again. The minute he locked eyes with his younger twin sister, Paul hurried to her side instantly knowing something was wrong. Paul and Margot had a very close relationship, even for twins which had nothing to do with the pack bond, in fact, the pack bond enhanced the bond they had already shared making them incredibly overprotective of one another.
As twins always seemed to do, they knew when something was wrong or bothering their other half and sometimes even had phantom pains if the other was injured, which Paul experienced when Margot went into labour with Jayden.
"What's wrong? Are you alright?" Paul asked worriedly, looking over her tensely.
"I'm drained, Paulie." Margot sighed quietly; tiredness clear in her voice.
"Let's get you home." Paul responded, slipping her bag over his own shoulder, leading her towards the Impala. "You can have a nap until the meeting, I'll help look after Jay for the time being or I'm sure Emily could until after the meeting."
"I just want to make a sofa fort with my twin and my son." Margot stated, smiling in thanks as he helped her into the front passenger seat.
"If that's what you want Marlie then that's what we will do." Paul replied with a smile, getting in the car he put on Carry On My Wayward Son and backed out of the car park. They both loved the song, and it always eased the tension in their shoulders, especially as they belted out the song together. He loved that regardless of Margot having her Imprint that they still did these sorts of things together, and it was a sort of tradition to build a fort and cuddle together with Jay when either of them were stressed. It was apparently something they have done since they were kids, and Paul had made sure to continue it after what had happened to her.
~
"MAMA!! UNCA PAULIE!!" Jayden shouted the minute the pair had entered the living room. Pushing himself away from Auntie Emily he ran over to his mother, carefully throwing his arms around her, placing a gentle kiss to her small baby bump, before Margot knelt down and enveloped him in her arms. Having a three-way conversation with his mother, Uncle Paul and baby sibling all about his Daddy-Son Date this morning where Jasper took him to the park and he played on the swings and fed the ducks, and then after his nap he had been drawing and baking with Auntie Em while Daddy went to work at the local Ranch as a Ranch hand. Funnily enough, it was the job he had when he was human before he was forced to enlist.
Listening to her son talk about his day with both Jasper and Emily was a balm to Margot's overwrought nerves and eased her stress levels. Plus watching her sweet Jay talk to her baby bump asking if they've been good for Mama was just so damn cute.
"Where's my hug little man?" Paul asked, kneeling beside Margot with his arms open wide and a pout on his face, making them all laugh.
"Silly Unca Paulie." Jay laughed. Giggling he kissed Margot once more before he ran into Paul's arms starting a tickle fight making Margot and Emily laugh at the pair.
"How's he been?" Margot asked Emily, who helped her up, handing her some water. "Thanks." She muttered before downing the entire glass, she made her way into the kitchen to refill it and snag an apple.
"What happened, Marlie?" Emily asked confused, getting a batch of blueberry and double chocolate chip muffins out of the oven. So Margot proceeded to tell Emily everything that had happened at Forks High today (knowing Paul would also be listening in) before she finished with telling her that she had called an emergency pack meeting that included the Elders, Jasper, Alice, Rosalie and Emmett. After the explanation Emily was left shocked at Isabella Swan's behaviour and ungrateful attitude. She knew even without meeting the girl that she wouldn't like her and only hoped she nor any of the pack had anything to do with her.
"I'll make some finger sandwiches and some more muffins while you go and relax with Paul and Jayden." Emily stated, pulling everything out of the fridge and cupboards that she would need. "I'll also look after Jay during the meeting as well."
"No Emily, I can't ask you to do that!" Margot protested, disposing of the apple core into the compost heap out in the garden. "You had him all afternoon."
"You're not asking Marlie, I'm offering." Emily refuted. "As for having him this afternoon, you know I don't mind. He's my adorable little nephew. You need to concentrate on this meeting to come up with a plan and you won't be able to do that with a two-year-old wanting your attention.
You're pregnant Marlie, you need to take it easy and accept all of our help, it doesn't make you a bad mother." She assured the girl she saw as a little sister, taking her into her arms for a comforting hug.
"Thank you Emily, you're right." Margot agreed, hugging back just as tightly. "But you, me, Cara and Emily are having a Girl's Day on Saturday. Even if we just watch a movie with face masks on." She countered.
"Agreed." Emily laughed, looking forward to Saturday. "Now, go on. That little boy has been eager for his Mama to come back all day. And you need to go relax for a bit before everyone gets here for the meeting, so go relax with your boys. I'll bring in some muffins when they're cool enough for Jay."
At that moment they heard a shout come from the living room making them laugh.
"Mama, fort ready!" Jayden shouted before they heard his little feet running towards them in the kitchen. "Come Mama, you and baby need to relax." He held out one hand while the other rested on his hip like he had seen his Mother do loads of times which only made Emily and Margot laugh more.
"I'm coming baby." Margot assured him, kissing his forehead as she took his hand. "Auntie Em, is going to hide us some muffins." She whispered to her son who cheered happily.
"Yay! Then Unca Paulie, Unca Jare and Unca Sam, and Auntie Ara can't eats them!" Jayden cheered.
"Oi!" Paul called from the living room making everyone laugh more, they all knew it was true.
***
With Jayden sufficiently distracted by Emily, Leah and Seth (who had come over to help) as they played with his dragon – that was the first ever toy Jasper had brought him – Paul and Jared moved the kitchen table out into the garden to put it up against the garden table so there would be more than enough room for everyone they got the meeting started.
"Where's Margot?" Sam asked, looking around the garden.
"She was here a moment ago." Rosalie replied with a frown. Just as Paul and Jasper went to rise from their seats, Margot came back out into the garden with two baskets of muffins that she placed on both tables.
"Does anyone need a drink?" Margot asked, looking round at the pack and the Elders (including her own parents). "Billy are you warm enough?" She asked, concerned.
"I'm perfectly warm enough, thank you Marlie." Billy reassured her with a soft smile.
"Marlie sit!" Jared pointed to the seat at the head of the double table that was in between Paul and Jasper. "I'll go make some coffee and tea for them and bring out some soda for us. You've been on your feet all day at work so sit." He ordered his best friend and Alpha Luna.
"I'll help." Emmett added, climbing from his seat, following Jared inside only pausing to hug Margot briefly.
"Come on darlin'." Jasper coaxed. Knowing she wasn't going to win Margot conceded and sat in her seat a soft sigh passing through her lips as not only was the weight finally off her feet, but she wasn't looking forward to this discussion.
When Jared and Emmett were back, Rosalie quickly helped pass out the teas and coffees to the Elders and a honey tea to Margot, while Jared handed out the sodas to Paul, Cara and Sam; they finally retook their seats. Margot started the meeting with what she had heard in the cafeteria at lunch time from Isabella Swan, Jessica Stanely and Lauren Mallory – even adding how she would talk to Charlie about her and Jasper's relationship and that only Angela Weber had spoken up in her defence. She finally ended with how Bella and Edward seemed obsessed with each other if the looks passed between them was anything to go by.
"It's true." Alice added with a sigh and shake of her head. "I tried to distract Edward at lunch, I even tried to tell him that Isabella was his Blood Singer. Like the one Emmett came across a few decades ago but he refused to listen to me. Then during Biology he nearly lost control of himself when the fan blew the scent of her blood towards him. I called Claire and she promised that she would help Carlisle try and talk some sense into him, but also be there so Esme and Carlisle couldn't give in to him."
"Why do I get the feeling that he will give in to Edward even with Claire there." Cara scoffed, rolling her eyes. From what they saw a year ago Edward ruled that coven despite Claire's best efforts.
"Because he will." Emmett stated, rolling his eyes.
"Been that way for years." Rosalie scoffed.
"I'll talk to Charlie." Billy added after a moment of silence. "Make sure his daughter isn't spreading lies. You've done nothing wrong Marlie, and Charlie knows that. But he is also like Carlisle and gives in to Isabella no matter what she says, or her demands are. He was the same when he was married to Renee. And I will tell him how ungrateful she was too. She won't get away with that."
"I know he is trying to make up for lost time due to Isabella not wanting to see him for years but giving in to her is the worst possible thing he could do." Tiffany Call added.
"I think we should tell the Volturi about Margot and the baby." Alice piped up causing everyone to freeze and stare at her as if she had lost her marbles.
"Alice you can't be serious!" Rosalie demanded angrily.
"You don't know what they'll do to her!" Jasper shouted, a growl building in his throat. The pack were starting to growl while Emmett stared at his sister as if he had never seen her before.
"All of you calm down!" Margot ordered sharply, her eyes glowing a bright luminous blue. "NOW! Before Jay comes out here scared!" Paul, Cara, Jared and Sam immediately listened due to both her order and the threat of scaring Jayden. The latter calms Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett although they still glare at Alice. "You can pack in the glaring too!" She ordered sharply, her eyes slowly returning to her normal warm brown. When they were all calm she turned back to Alice. "Alice, why would it be a good idea to tell them?" She asked.
"Did you see something?" Margot asked, which Alice nodded to.
"If we do not tell them now, and they find out from someone else then it will be so much worse and could mean war between us and them, and no one can stand against the gifts that Alec and Jane have. Alec has the gift to deprive you of your senses while Jane causes unimaginable and unbearable pain with just one word.
I had the vision of Edward and Bella telling them in a year, and it can go one of two ways. One, we tell them on our terms and soon, proving to them that male vampires can have children with the proof Eleazar and Claire found from the tribe in the Amazon.
Or they find out from someone else, and they accuse us of making an Immortal Child. Which will mean death to everyone involved, including the innocents here on La Push and Jayden." Alice finished her explanation to everyone's horror.
"I'm sorry did you say an Immortal Child?" 'Old' Quil Ateara asked in horror. "Please do not tell me that is what I think it is!"
"Yes." Rosalie added sadly. "An Immortal Child is someone who turns a child under thirteen. Jane and Alec are pushing the mark as they are only just thirteen but were turned by Aro Volturi, one of the Kings. Immortal Children are instantly beloved by anyone who beheld them.
You would do anything for them, but their maturity and understanding are frozen at the age they were turned. A single tantrum can massacre an entire city."
"Centuries ago, the mother of our cousins, the Denali's, turned a little boy, who was Jayden's age." Emmett explained to the rising horror of those from La Push. "He killed an entire village with his tantrum, putting a new meaning of terrible twos. She died trying to attack the Volturi when they came to destroy him. Kate, and her sisters Tanya and Irina were only spared as they didn't know about him, their mother had hid him from even them."
"Since then it's been a death sentence to create an Immortal Child." Alice finished the explanation, while Jasper consoled a distraught Margot, tenderly wiping away her tears.
"Who could turn a poor baby?" Margot gasped, taking both Jasper and Paul's hands in her own to calm herself down. "Sorry. Damn hormones." She grumbled, brushing the remaining tears from her cheeks. But she could admit that the thought of someone doing that to her precious Jay or someone his age sent a bolt of pain and fear through her heart.
"You don't need to apologise Marlie." Rosalie assured her best friend with a soft smile as the pack and the Elders were left in a horrified silence as they tried to digest that disgusting news that anyone would do that to a poor child, never mind a baby like the Denali mother had.
"It is a disgusting thing to do to a child, never mind a baby." Rosalie agreed, unbeknownst to her agreeing with their thoughts. "I would never wish this life on anyone and would never ever do that to a child no matter how much I would have loved a child, but I have my Emmett, and a gorgeous nephew and a new niece or nephew so I have finally made peace with it." She smiled when Margot got up to hug and readily returned the hug.
"Plus the woman was actually Kate, Tanya and Irina's mother and had turned them against their will so she really didn't need to do that to that poor boy. Stealing him away from his own family..." Rose trailed off shaking her head. That is something she openly disagreed with when Claire and Carlisle told her, no matter what Irina thought it wasn't right. There was something seriously wrong with that woman, a madness that she and Emmett had seen within Irina's eyes.
"Alice is right though." Emmett added. "We should really tell them, and soon."
"I'll write them a letter once we're done here. Including all of the evidence, which may mean they will visit the Amazon tribe and Eleazar first." Jasper sighed. "I won't let any harm come to my family nor anyone on La Push. Although that will mean with the arrival of the three Kings and their guard that more will phase, as they will want to see Margot for themselves and see our thoughts. Aro is like Edward, but he has to touch your hand to be able to read your thoughts." He added as he looked at Billy, Margot and Sam.
At that the pack tensed as they didn't want them near Margot, but they knew it was a better alternative than war.
"We could have them meet us at our house, so they don't come here." Alice added. Billy nodded to Sam and Margot before the two Alphas shared a look, speaking to each other with the pack bond before they turned back to everyone.
"We'll warn everyone and prepare them." Sam stated.
"You know we will help keep an eye on them all." Cara added getting nods from Paul and Jared as they knew they would need the help as there were quite a few who could phase, and they didn't want to stretch Sam and Margot too thin; especially Margot.
"Thanks Cara." Margot smiled gratefully at her best friend.
"The minute we notice any of our kids exhibiting signs of phasing then we will let you know." Harry Clearwater told them, getting grateful smiles from everyone as they knew in the coming months it will be a trying time and they are going to be stretched thin more often than not, as in the New Year Margot will be giving birth and already there has been suspicious deaths making their way closer to Forks but they haven't been able to find the vampire or vampires responsible, even with Emmett aiding them with his Tracking ability. They were all left with a hollow feeling that everything will be happening all at once.
