Chapter Sixteen, Baseball

As the Easter holidays were drawing to a close and with it, Margot's time off, a thunderstorm rolled into Forks bringing excitement to the Cullens as it would be their first Baseball game of the new year, and this time the Pack were joining them which brought a whole new level of excitement to the used to be enemies; or rather the childish members of the two species: 'Emmett, Paul, and Jared'. Even though some members of the Tribe have yet to shift they would still be attending even if it was just to watch, entertain Jayden and cheer on their friends. After dressing for the game, Margot couldn't help but awe at how adorable Jasper and Jayden looked with their matching baseball Daddy and Son outfits, it melted her heart and made her wolf extremely happy.

'Mate is so good with Cub.' Margot's wolf purred in her mind, bringing forth unbridled images of Jasper and Margot claiming one another which left her reeling with rosy cheeks, as she had a feeling she would soon be ready to take the next step with her mate and complete the bond.
'OH COME ON!' Paul, Jared and Sam complained through the pack bond. 'We don't need to know that!' They groaned while Cara cackled, fully enjoying their complaints.

With her cheeks still rosy, Margot entered the living room where Paul, Jasper and Jayden were waiting for her all the while ignoring the playful glare her twin sent her.
"Hello Darlin', you look incredible." Jasper beamed, standing smoothly with Jayden perched on his hip smiling and waving at his mother. "Are you alright?" He asked concerned, noticing her flushed cheeks.

"Thank you Jazz, you look incredibly handsome dressed ready for baseball." Margot flirted, kissing his cheek as she took their son into her arms, greeting him with Eskimo kisses before she greeted her brother with a hug and a kiss to the cheek. "Are we ready?" She asked excitedly, earning tender smiles from her mate and brother as they nodded. They loved seeing her happy and so excited. "Let's go." She cheered, fully intending to win as she pulled a raincoat onto Jayden before she followed the two out of the house locking it behind her.

Upon arriving at the clearing, Jasper, Margot and Paul couldn't help but laugh as they saw Emmett play fighting with Jared as they pretended to box while waiting for them to arrive as it would seem they were the last ones to arrive.
"Finally!!" Emmett cheered teasingly.
"That eager to lose, are you Emmie-bear?" Margot asked teasingly, eliciting laughs from everyone while Emmett pouted at Rosalie.
"Rosie, Marlie is being mean!" Emmett pouted.
"You'll live." Rosalie teased, laughing before she pecked him on the cheek getting a beaming and goofy smile from her mate and husband. "What're the teams?" She asked looking around at everyone, yet again Edward refused to play with the pack so he was sulking at home.

"How about girls vs boys?" Cara suggested teasingly, smirking at her little brother, Jake, and her mate, Quil, as they had already lost against her today in a video game. "And the loser has to treat the winners to a meal or something." She added, sharing a smirk with Margot and Leah who was entertaining Jayden with Emily.
"Perfect." Claire agreed. "Prepared to lose brother dearest?" She asked Carlisle teasingly.
"In your dreams sweet sister." Carlisle returned, everyone laughing excitedly as they got into their teams, watching while Rosalie stepped up to bat first.
"Jasper! Stop distracting my teammate!" Rosalie shouted, as she slid into base just seconds before Esme caught the ball. "It's your turn soon." She added to her brother.

Winking at Margot, Jasper kissed Margot's neck, removing his arms from around her as he moved a little away from her to warm up, twirling the bat which was incredibly hot. Jasper winked at Margot chuckling, no doubt feeling her emotions. What can she say? It was hot. Rosalie now stood beside her linking Margot's arm with hers.

"Good job, Rosie." Margot praised her by pulling her into a hug.
"Thanks Marlie." Rosalie smiled hugging her tightly as they watched Carlisle bat. He was lucky enough to get home as both Jared and Emmett had jumped up to catch the ball at the same time only to end up crashing into each other. The sound of them crashing into each other sounded like boulders which was luckily enough covered by the thunder, Jayden couldn't help but giggle as he watched his uncle's earning pouts off of Emmett and Jared. After Carlisle was Claire, who had to stop at second base otherwise she would have got caught with how quickly Emmett caught it to make up for his previous blunder earning a teasing smile from her older brother which she scowled playfully at.

Now, it was Jasper's turn he came up to Margot the bat over his shoulders which he dropped as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Good luck babe." Margot smiled, kissing his lips.

"Why thank you Ma'am." Jasper smirked, kissing Margot's lips again making her giggle. "What do I get if I win?" He asked mischief shining in his eyes.
"You'll have to wait and see won't you!" Margot teased, laughing when he groaned and buried his head in her neck.
"Come on Jasper!" Emmett shouted, laughing and holding his hands up in surrender when they glared at him.
"You can snog her later." Leah added, teasing her best friends. Rolling his eyes he kissed Margot once more before taking his position twirling the bat again. "You're very distracting darlin'! But I love you so I'll forgive you." Jasper teased, winking at Margot feeling her emotions again before he got ready and swung at the ball as hard as he could before he took off running.

Jasper ran as fast as he could around the base but as he was nearing third base Emmett climbed the tree rather like a monkey.
"My monkey man!" Rosalie gushed, as she, Cara and Margot dissolved into giggles, just as Emmett chucked the ball to Esme catching Jasper out.
"Sorry baby, and I love you too." Margot whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck as he wrapped his around her waist pecking his lips, as Margot stepped up to bat behind them, swinging the ball into the forest.

"Mama!" Jayden cheered, earning smiles from everyone at the cute little boy. Smiling Margot blew a kiss to her son and winked at Jasper before she took off running around the field peals of laughter escaping her lips bringing forth smiles from everyone as this was proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was healing from her ordeal and they couldn't be happier for her. She was the glue that helped hold the ex-enemies together, for who would've thought a year ago that the two opposing sides would be laughing and playing baseball together.

It just went to show that when they got passed the unfound instincts to hate and mistrust the other that they had more in common with each other than they would have thought possible, and without the negative influence of Edward around them (as he was a spoilt child) the members of the the Cullen clan were happy and enjoying themselves - some for the first time in centuries - without his poison being poured into their ears; as was proven by Jasper who he found had more control and strength then he had ever allowed himself to believe and it was all thanks to one Margot Alia Lahote.
