Chapter Fourteen, Jayden's Second Birthday
Chapter Fourteen, Jayden's Second Birthday
Margot awoke feeling nostalgic. Why? It was her baby's second birthday, of course. He was growing up so fast and was turning into such a caring little boy. She had worked hard to create the perfect birthday for her son with the help of her amazing twin brother and her boyfriend, Jasper. Esme had also graciously offered to host the party at her house which Cora and Jamie graciously accepted on behalf of their daughter; knowing she became rather shy when offered help with Jayden, fearing she wouldn't be seen as a good mother. It was left over from what she had endured but she was slowly getting better with each passing day. It helped that she had such an amazing and extensive support network.
With this in mind, Margot had created a task list for everyone to help create the perfect party. She was making the cake, but Esme, her mother, Kim, and Emily were making the food which was more like a feast with the packs large appetites. Jasper, Paul and Emmett, Sam and Jared were creating games to play; Rosalie, Cara, Leah and Alice were creating the decorations while Margot also made the invitations. As Jayden wouldn't be starting nursery until September there would only be Emily's niece, Claire, who was his age. However, there wasn't a lack of people to celebrate his birthday as the whole tribe, Eva and the Cullens were determined to make that little boy's birthday special!
As soon as Paul, Jayden and Margot arrived at the Cullens, Jasper was starstruck by his mate's beauty. No matter what she wore she always looked stunning and Major purred in the back of his mind; itching to claim their mate and mark her delicious neck with the mating mark but both Jasper and Major knew she wasn't ready yet so they would go at her pace. Just before his mate had arrived, Jasper had spoken to Eva - his old teacher - informing her of the budding relationship between himself and Margot. Edward was nowhere to be seen thank goodness as he had kicked up a storm over the entire pack coming as well as their teacher until Esme and Claire had informed the stuck up child that Eva was their friend as well as Margot and as it was their house they could invite whoever they liked.
They hadn't seen him since then. But back to the point. Jasper had informed her as he knew she was a dear friend to his mate and she hated lying to her loved ones, so he took the initiative. Surprisingly, she was very supportive of it and as he was no longer a student and they were both consenting - (he had a feeling she'd spoken to Esme, Claire and Carlisle about it, as Jasper could admit he didn't really hide his feelings for Margot and Jayden) - there was no harm done.
"Hello darlin'." Jasper purred, pecking Margot's lips tenderly. "You look stunning. And Happy Birthday to you, lil' wolf." Jasper crowed, swooping down to pick Jayden up in his arms. Throwing him in the air and catching him to Jayden's delight as jovial giggles escaped his lips.
"My turn. My turn!" The overgrown teddy bear known as Emmett bounded over enthusiastically, his childish and jovial attitude and behaviour immediately caused Jayden and Claire to warm up to him. Scooping down he snatched Claire from Emily and Jayden from Jasper as he bounced away to the bouncy castle at the edge of the garden.
"Seems Emmett has found someone his own age for a change." Rosalie commented dryly, watching her mate gently throw the two toddlers down onto the bouncy castle, but there was a fondness in her eyes and a loving smile upon her lips.
"It would seem so." Jasper sighed put upon. He had been looking forward to spending some time with his son but Emmett just had to come and steal him away from him.
"There will be plenty of time to play with Jay." Sam laughed, clapping Jasper on the shoulder.
"But least you know how Sam and I feel when Paul is around." Jared grumbled good naturedly.
"Not my fault he favours his Uncle Paulie." Paul teased, shoving the two playfully.
"Errr I think you'll find I'm his favourite." Margot teased them all, giggling with the girls when they shot her a look.
"All boys are Mummy's boys." Eva joined in the ribbing, laughing her loud baritone laugh at the looks she now received.
"Yes, well. I was still his second word." Paul put in pitifully. "Has he said any of your names yet?" He teased his pack and the rest of the Cullens and tribe. That did it. They each tried to claim they were the best uncle/aunt or grandparent much to Margot's amusement. As she watched her loved ones playfully bantering with their supposed enemy she couldn't help but smile that this all occurred because she imprinted on her student and she was in turn his soulmate. But despite the happy moment her wolf was slightly on edge - guarded - as her eyes darted amongst the trees as she felt like she was being watched with intense dislike, even hatred. She knew who that was; Edward. Jasper had told her of the massive fight he'd had with the mind reader and how he'd stormed off like a petulant child.
As those thoughts appeared in her brain, spreading to the rest of her pack their hackles raised as the feeling intensified; Jasper wrapped his arm around her waist as he looked in the same direction. His eyes no longer the honey amber but a pitch black with swirling red. Major was at the forefront warning Edward to stay away as he glared darkly and projected his emotions towards the child. The staring contest between them seemed to go on for ages until Edward darted away. But they knew that eventually he would cause trouble for them all.
"Don't worry Marlie, he will not harm a hair on your head or Jayden's. You are our Alpha Luna and Jayden's your Cub and we protect our own." Sam whispered quietly to his Alpha Luna, so Eva couldn't hear.
Margot was the only one who could withstand and even contradict his command. But luckily they worked in harmony as a pack should and she hadn't had to to use her Alpha Luna power, but they all knew that time was coming, and coming fast.
"I know thank you Sam." Margot whispered, hugging him before she headed off to her son to enjoy his party; pushing Edward's hostility to the back of her mind for now.
