Jake's POV

When we arrived at the apartment complex it was almost time for enrollment to end at TCU. "I'll go grab the keys and apartment number then we can head to TCU." I said before jumping out the car and running to tge front desk.

Once there I walked up a well dressed female leopard. "Excuse but I'm here for an apartment." I nicely said tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around and smiled, "Yes name please." she asked turning on a computer.

"Jake Howlston, but it might be under Derrick Mason." I told her looking at her type names in. 'have I seen her before she looks familiar like I've seen her somewhere' I thought. "Jake Howlston here you are sharing an apartment with Derrick Mason." she whispered under her  breath grabbing a pair of keys from under the desk.

She held out the keys and said in the sweetest voice ever "Apartment 21." finishing in a warm smile. I saw a purple and blue fur patch on the top of her paw then it hit me. 'Gem, but it couldn'd' I thought as I took the keys.

She gave me a little nod and started to walk away. "Thanks Gem. Nice to see you again." I called as she walked away. She stopped and looked at me. "How do you? No you couldn't be." she gasped putting her paw over her mouth.

I laughed a bit as I said "Nice to see you little sister, well adopted little sister heh." she ran to me and hugged me. "I'm still your little sister Jake. How's mom?" she asked. "She's great, but I got to go TCU enrollment." I said placing a small quick kiss on her forehead before I run out the door.

Once back to the car Derrick pulled out the parking lot to TCU. When we arrived on campus we had twenty minutes left to enroll. We ran to the front desk panting when we reached the end. "Jake Howlston and Derrick Mason?" said one of the men at the desk.

Me and Derrick nodded still panting. "Fuck oh shit phew." I said breathing hard. Derrick hit me in the arm in a way to tell me stop swearing. "Well you two made it just in time we have an open dorm on the second floor next to Seth and Azrael." the man politely told us.

"Well yea that will work. We can use our apartment on the weekends right Jake." said Derrick with that "just go with it" smile. I nodded and grabbed the keys from the man and walked to the elevator. 'the shit I do for you Derrick' I thought looking at him singing next to me.

             Derrick's POV

I was sing Ed Sheeran thinking out loud as we walked to the elevator.

As Jake pressed the second floor button he wraps his arm around my waist. I smiled up at he as he started to sing along.

Time skip to two weeks later

            Derrick's POV

I was in the gym in the stands watching Jake practice basketball while looking through pics I took of him. "Yo bro isn't that one of the new gaywods right there?" I heard someone say from behind me.

I'm naturally paranoid so I thought they were talking about me. As an instinct I opened Jango and started playing music. "The one that just turned on music yeah that's him Jake is down there." said another.

'fuck fuck fuck dammit!" I screamed in my head. Right as I heard them start to walk down the metal benches Jake texted me to come here. I turned off my phone and walk down and around the court to Jake.

"Derrick are you ok up there sitting in the stands?" he asked putting his paws on waist walking closer to me. "Yes babe I'm fine but I got to go I need to practice for my solo for choir." I replied kissing him jogging out the gym slowing to a stop when I got outside.

"Well well well look at the gaywod going to his dorm." said the voice from before, but this time I saw it belonged to Chris, a tiger. I stopped and remembered what Jake had told me 'be confident stand up for yourself' I repeated in my head.

I turned to face them. "Yeah I'm gay so." I said with a slight snarl in my voice. "Don't try that whole I'm tough trick Derrick it won't work. Everyone knows you need Jake to take care of you." Chris hissed. "I can take care of myself if I can take on my abusive ex I can take on you." I growled meaning every word I said

Chris rolled his eyes and in a quick second grabbed my collar and pinned me to the brick wall of the gym building. "Jake's puppy huh well no you are my bitch take it off now." Chris snarled.

"What! I rather eat pussy asshole I'm not your bitch." I snarled back. Chris punched me and ripped off my collar shredding it to pieces. "No my collar no." I whined starting to cry. "Next time do as you're told." remarked Chris as he went back in.

I grabbed my stuff and the shredded collar then ran to my dorm crying slamming my door. I sat on my bed crying when I heard a soft knock on the door. "Who is it?" I asked my voice shaking.

"I'm Seth. I'm the otter in the next dorm. Are you ok?" he said in almost a hush voice. "No. Come in Seth." I cried. Seth wakes in and sat on the bed next to me and placed a paw on my back.

"Calm down its ok. What's wrong?" he lifted my head as he spoke to me. "Chris the tiger he said I was now his bitch and told me to take my collar off. When I said no h-he shredded it to pieces." I whimpered.

"It's ok Chris does this to all the gays here. I was a victim too but it will blow over ok." Seth smiled at me which made me feel a little better. "Ok. You're nice I'm Derrick. Never met an otter before." I smiled back.

"Thanks nice to meet you. Mind if I stay here with you for awhile my boyfriend won't be back from practice for another 30 minutes." he asked looking around. I just nodded 'I can tell me and him are gonna be good friends'

                   Jake's POV

I shot another basket and made it. "Yes." I said to myself. Right before I shot another ball I heard someone behind me call "hey are you Jake." I turned to see a wolf German Shepherd mix coming toward me.

"Yeah that's me Jake Howlston." I said trying to sound as nice as possible. "Good. My boyfriend just texted and told me Derrick was in the dorm crying." he panted. "Oh well I better head up no thanks...uh I never got your name." I said putting up the ball and grabbing my stuff.

"Azrael. Mind if I come with." he asked. "Sure why not come on lets race." I challenged running out the door and into another building to the nearest elevator. When I made it there Azrael was right behind me. "Nice race Jake you're fast." he laughed.

"Yeah yeah let's go Azrael." I said getting into the elevator. Azrael followed inside talking about his boyfriend Seth. "He's an otter. Shy sometimes and so sweet you need to meet him he loves making new friends." he rambled. I nodded at everything he said but at the same time thinking about Derrick. 'my poor puppy I hope nothing happened' I thought.
