Luke

I listen intently for any signs of predators as I walk through the freshly fallen snow, my stomach growling fiercely when I spotted a berry bush. I've been searching for food for the past hour, leaving my family alone to search for the food that we desperately needed. I didn't hear anything, so I hurried to close the distance, pulling out the bag that I had already put the few roots and other eatable plants that I found. I hurried to put the berries inside of the bag, my heart racing since I was out in the open, my long ears high in alert for any sounds. I ate a few berries to settle my stomach a little, closing my eyes as I enjoyed the sour taste be taken over by sweetness. A branch broke behind me, making me freeze, turning around slowly as fear gripped my heart when I caught a glimpse of black fur. Without a second thought, I ran, sliding into my animal form so I could run faster and slide through small spaces, my heart pounding when I heard that I was being chased by whatever it was.
I dared myself to look back, instantly wishing that I didn't. I was being chased by a giant, black dire wolf, that was steadily gaining on me, it's giant paws leaving prints in the snow. I turned my attention back in front of me, running faster as fear seared through my body, running through a snow covered log and slide to a halt in the middle, hoping the wolf would pass as I caught my breath. Why, out of every predator shiftier, did it have to be a wolf that was chasing me? I heard the wolf slow down and stopped, its footsteps walking next the log that I was hiding in and was so close, I was able to hear its heavy breathing. The wolf dug at the log, its claws going straight through the dead tree, my heart pounding hard as I backed away, hoping to get out of the log before it clawed all the way through. I relaxed when the wolf stopped clawing at the log, trying to control my breathing as the snow crunched underneath its paws. I didn't realize that I had backed up in front of a hole in the log until the wolfs jaws went into the log behind me and grabbed the back of my neck.
I kicked and tried to run away, only to have the wolf tighten it's hold a little, growling as it pulled me out of the dead tree. My heart pounded hard as I tried to kick at the wolf, trying to get it to let me go, looking at the ground to see that it had slipped into its humanoid form. A paw like hand grabbed the scruff of my neck, the teeth leaving my skin as the wolf held me out to inspect me. I saw that the wolf was a girl, her tail swaying a little as she studied me with creepy, blood red eyes. I kicked again, wanting her to let me go, making her smile at my efforts, shaking her head as she laughed softly.
"You think I'm going to let you go, little rabbit?" She grinned, grabbing my feet with her other hand and let go of my neck, making me go upside down as my heart picked up its pace.
She smiled as she studied my helpless body hungrily, her sharp, white teeth sending shivers down my spine as I struggled in her grip. She reached into a bag that hung at her side and pulled out an empty, brown sack, shoving me inside before I could retaliate any further. She tied the sack and slung it over her shoulder, my heart pounding harder as I kicked and struggled to get out of the bag. The wolf chuckled at my attempts to escape and began to walk away, humming a song that seemed familiar, but I was to busy trying to free myself to figure out what it was.
