Alone

Taehyung held tightly onto the cup, biting nervously on his lip. Yes he thinks this place was awesome.  But that was when he was with Jungkook, right now... He was alone. And that didn't feel so good.

Jungkook felt safe to be around. But now, Taehyung doesn't know anyone or anything here. Heck he doesn't even know what he is drinking right now!

He sank more into the back of his couch seat and stared at the people around the bar off the inn. Their loud voices suddenly felt a bit overwhelming.

And that didn't go unnoticed.

Suddenly a red haired lady sat down in front of him and smiled.

"Hello there, you are not from around here, are you?"

"no, I am not." Taehyung straightened himself out of habit. His voice became polite and controlled. But he shook it off. He was not in the palace, people don't know him here. He can be whoever he wants to be.  "no, I am a.... Traveler"

"a traveler, fascinating, we don't get a lot of travelers through these mountains. They are dangerous to climb, almost impossible for a human to make it to the top where we are. So...How exactly did you come here?" she leaned a bit more over the table. Her long nail tapped on the table.

"Uhm, we came from far away. But we have been through worse. But we were freezing so we came here to warm up and restock.'' Taehyung lied. Jungkook kept Zuzu a secret. So he decided not to tell anyone else about zuzu or anything magical he had seen.

"really?.... Now, tell me more about the journey up these icy paths." she smiled strangely and Taehyung felt like she was not being nice here.... She was fishing for something, trying to get something out of him. "Were you...With someone else?"

"ah, well yes. A friend, she is from my hometown Taehyung changed it to a girl hopefully to keep her confused. Mentally he was panicking. He doesn't know what to do, what he was supposed to say. She looked dangerous, rough and strong. Not like the regular elegant ladies.
'jungkook, please come back...' he wished mentally and closed his eyes to take a deep breath. Suddenly a warm hand was placed on his shoulder and a hot breath fanned over his ear.

"Do not worry, your protector is here~" a whisper was in his ear.
When he opened them his eyes widened.
Jungkoom was right next to him. The warm hand on his shoulder gave him a light squeeze before the touch was gone.

Jungkook faced the lady who looked annoyed by Jungkook's appearance. "I think you should leave," the wizard spoke. To which the lady flicked her tongue and stood up walking away with an arrogant flip of her hair.

"I got us a room so let's call it a day. We will go shopping tomorrow. Jungkook said and they stood up. Taehyung's last bit of drink had run cold by now, so he left it behind. "oh, here" the raven handed the Prince a folded cloth.

"What's this?" Taehyung held it up and it unfolded into a beautiful inside furred coat with a hood.

"for you so you won't be cold. It's handmade by the natives of this place, so its perfect for this weather"

"can i really have this?"

"Of course, why else would i give it to you? Now lets go, i got a room for us"

"thank you" Taehyung smiled and held the coat while they searched for their room on the second floor. Wooden planks cracking under their feet with each step.

"you're most welcome dear" Jungkook gave the other a smile and unlocked their assigned room door. Which he immediately locked behind them. The wizard took off his outerwear and dropped it over a stool near the door before walking around the tiny room with two beds and flicking his hand at the canes. Making them light up without a match.

"Seriously that's so cool" Taehyung chuckled and did the same. Dropping his coats on the stool, but instead of magically lighting caed he just flopped on the bed with a deep sigh.

His first night in a new land. A nice thought. "By the way" he started and turned his head towards Jungkook who was starting to undress. "why don't we sleep with zuzh, won't she be lonely?"

"its too much hassle to go up and down the mountain everyday. And no, zuzu likes her own time where she can relax without human blabbers in her ears."

"i like her, may i ask how she got that injury?"

"well, it happened in my own world. When i decided to run i was already being chased, so i took my one shot and took Zuzu with me. I flew away with her to the end of the world where the instability connects mine and yours. I wanted to travel through the gap and escape, but we were being shot at. And sadly Zuzu got hit in her fin my a mortar shot. We barely made it out, she was bleeding heavily so as soon we got through the gap we crashed into a forest. "jungkook spoke and sat down next to taehyung who laid on his back on the bed. "i knew i had to attend to her first before going to find you. Which is why i need medicine everywhere i go, medicine is expensive and im not allowed to buy more than small amounts. Zuzu takes a whole thing each day!"

"but, you have healing powers right?" Taehyung reminded the other.

"yes, but giving and fixing a life exhausts me a lot, and something her size... I don't think I can work on such a big scale. I don't want to fail or accidentally hurt her. She is my dearest friend, she takes such good care of me. So I take good care of her in return."

"you're a kind man"

'your man' is what went on in Jungkook's head. But he will never tell the other. At least, not now. It's best if Taehyung doesn't know their whole connection. Jungkook will have to keep hope that he will come back eventually.

Fixing this war going on was their mission now. Jungkook has to get Taehyung there in and back out safely. He can not force this version of Taehyung to be who he wasn't meant to be. Jungkook knows that once this is over he will have to let go of the other.

Taehyung does not belong in his world.

But Jungkook can be quite selfish at times. But he has to remember that....

"lets get some rest, we have a busy day tomorrow"  Jungkook said and walked to the other side of the room.
