That evening, Fili and Cora were assigned to watch the ponies,  so that's what they were doing. Sorta.

Fili was sitting with his back against a tree, and so was Cora, but their fingers were intertwined.

"So, talk to your friend lately? " Fili asked.

"Yes, earlier today in fact. I haven't spoken to him face to face for over a year."

"Wow."

They were silent, and she laid her head on his shoulder.

Then, they noticed that they were missing some ponies.

They followed the troll tracks, and attempted to take down the trolls by themselves.

Fili was attacking anything he could reach, and Cora was making sure he didn't get caught. 

All they had to do was wait for dawn, which would turn the trolls to stone.

Eventually, the dawn came, and with it, Gandalf returned.

"Dawn take you all!" he yelled.

"Who's that?"

"No idea."

"Can we eat him too?"

The trolls turned to stone, but Fili noticed that blood was soaking through Cora's shirt and pants at the  calves and lower thighs.

"Cora! Look at you!" he exclaimed.

She looked down, and the movement was too much. She hadn't noticed her injuries because of the adrenaline pumping through her veins. She passed out.

Fili carried her back to the camp and cleaned her wounds.

The next morning,  she woke up, but was too weak to go anywhere.

Fili and everyone else was looking for the troll hoard while she was still in her roll at camp, so she talked to Legolas.

Hi Legolas!

I was wondering when you'd talk to me again.

Were you feeling lonely?

No. How is the adventure going?

Well, Fili and I distracted a few trolls till dawn, and evidentally I got stabbed in the lower thigh and my side. I passed out shortly after.

That's not good.

It hurts now that the adrenaline is gone.

It will for a while.

I know. Sadly. So what have you been up to?

I'm camped by the path into Mirkwood.

And what are you going to do until we get there?

I don't know,  talk to you?

That'll work.

When the company got to Rivendell, the elves healed her wounds, and it was just a bit sore now.

She was sitting on the balcony when Fili came to talk to her. He set his hand on hers.

"Hello Fili."

"Hi. Would you like to go for a walk?"

"Sure."

They were on a bridge going over a small part of the water, and she sat on the railing.

She was watching the river, then she heard Fili shift positions, and turned to look at him.

She was taken aback because he was on one knee.

"Cora, will you do me the honor of marrying me?" he asked quietly.

"Of course!!!" she exclaimed, standing up as soon as he got up, and slipping her arms around his neck, hugging him.

He slipped his arms around her waist and hugged her back.

Then he pullued back, just to kiss her passionately when she looked up.

That night, she was in her room just thinking, and eventually she laid down.

Shortly after, Fili came in, and laid beside her, slipping his arms around her waist.

She turned to face him, and kissed him on the cheek.

Before she fell asleep, she was thinking. What she didn't realize was that she forgot to disconnect her thoughts from Legolas's.

I can't wait to tell Legolas that Fili and I are engaged!!!

Legolas was in shock. Now the arranged marriage might as well happen. He didn't care any more.

She fell asleep.

You just did.
