Unique - Wither Effect Pt.1

Delancey POV

One after the other...

Then another...

Then another...

Another test, another blood sample, another inconclusive result...

The day I was born, everyone could immediately tell that I was unique in a strange way. I've always had vibrant purple eyes. But when Mom and Dad took me to doctors, scientists, and of course, Uncle Ivor, all of them assured Mom and Dad that I was perfectly healthy. I grew up normal until I was 13. But guess what happened? My lips and fingertips started turning purple..........yay. Fast forward a year later, guess what else happened? I started LEVITATING THINGS WITH MY EYEBALLS. So for a nanosecond, it was cool. Until realization hit me like a stack of brick blocks, and I realized "Oh crud, I can levitate things just by looking at them..."

Fast forward another year of tests, blood samples, and a lot of other medical stuff, we still hardly know anything. What we do know is that my "Wither Effect" was probably caused my Mom's former and famous case of Withersickness. Believe it or not, my purple eyes just came from simple genetics. It's weird, because even though Mom's sickness was cured, it still stayed apart of her, it just didn't have an effect on her appearance, or physical/mental health anymore. So that not only explains my eyes, but it also explains my purple lips and fingertips. Y'know? Since my mom had an infected arm? But we only have a theory about my levitation powers. We think it might be a parallel to the Witherstorm's levitational beam, that it too, used with it's eyes.

Fast forward to now. I was just told that I was going to be transferred to a new lab with a new doctor/scientist. I was actually upset when I heard this. I actually grew to love the hospital. All the staff knew me by name, I had made friends with the frequent patients, it was nice. I loved it when little kids cheerfully asked about my eyes, they would usually tell me that they were pretty, which always brought a smile to my purple lips. I don't want to leave...

"Delancey, are you okay?" I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of my boyfriend's voice. "Delancey?"

"Huh?" I asked, slightly confused and startled. "You spaced. Are you sure you're okay?" Dillion asked again. He was always there for me. Despite being always being bombarded with homework, there have been very few times where he's had to miss being with me at the hospital. Even if it's just a check up, he'll bring his homework with him just so that he can be here next to me. A lot of the students at school either made fun of my condition, or gave me weird looks but didn't say anything. Dillion was the first one to take notice of my eyes and lips, and actually like them. It took a lot of explanation to convince him that they weren't just contacts and really bold lipstick.

"I don't want to leave this hospital, Dillion. I like it here..." I admitted. Dillion already knew about my liking of the hospital, so he wasn't confused in the slightest. Instead, he gently grabbed my purple tipped hand and lightly smiled. "Hey...I know you don't want to leave, but that doesn't mean you're gonna leave this place completely. You can still see Hannah, and Clara, and everyone else during visiting hours. The staff will still remember and greet you like they always do, and kids will still ask you about your pretty eyes. It won't be the same, but it'll still be here..." He reassured me, curling me up in his arms. We stayed like that for a few minutes, me snuggled up against him, warm and safe.

"Delancey? Ready to leave?" Mom asked, appearing from around the corner. Me and Dillion broke from our hug, turning to her. "I think me and Dillion are gonna get a slushie from.....somewhere. Sound good to you?" I said to Mom, then turning to Dillion for answer. I knew that he could tell by the look on my face that I needed to distract myself, so he didn't recline. "Sure, If you want." He shrugged. "Okay, well, be back by dinner." Mom ordered, with that look in her eye that said "or else."

*time skip*

"Uhhh...one Mango, and a Blue Raspberry. That's all." Dillion ordered, sliding the money over the counter. The waitress nodded and wrote it down on her tiny notebook. She came up to us with our drinks a few minutes later, as we sat down at a bright pink and blue, cafe-style table and chairs. I grabbed my Blue raspberry slushie and levitated it up to my mouth, sucking on the straw. But I only started to drink it for a few seconds before Dillion quickly grabbed my cup and pulled it away from me. He gave me a look, as if he were saying "Nuuuuuu..." He set it back down on the table, and I reluctantly sighed. I grabbed my cup with my hands, like a normal person, and slid it back over to me. I didn't know why, but I had a weird feeling. And it's definitely messing with my mood. It's some sort of mixture between uneasiness and slight depression. Obviously I was upset about leaving the hospital, but it- it's was more than that. It's....some other reason, I just don't know what. Something just feels...off.

You have no idea how bad I wanted to make a Freeze Your Brain reference when I mentioned the slushies. No idea! Can you tell that Delancey is Jetra's daughter?
